Boston skill boost.

I noticed there is now a place in Boston that you can do quests do get + boosts to skills. Seems it’s like oxford but a separate thing.

Are they stackable?

Can I use my 5 oxford skills and these extra Boston skills?

Yes you can stack them if you look at the tabs that run across the top of the skill menus.

    HOWEVER there is a catch.

They are only avtive if in the right job.

Wes, I have done a few, Cartographer and Priest. Gives me a +1 after submission in either job.

Priest, you do any Theo quests

Cartographer, you do any geography quests

For the 1st bldg only takes 10 quests for the 50 points to finish it.

Once the submissions in that Bldg is full, I imagine you get the opportunity to do it to get +2 in either job.

    Hope that helps

I have only seen Fisher and Privateer.
What do we need to do to see other jobs show up?

I have 21 submissions so far and the second building has not shown up.

    Has anyone seen it?

so the melee on is only for privateer and doesn’t offer anything for pirate or filibuster?
Thanks for posting this info btw

once you've done the research and have the skill, do you have to be in the right job to use the skill or can you use it with any job?

You have to be in the job. I did the privateer one which is 10% melee boost. But I can only use it in privateer job, which I would never pirate in anyway so it’s kind of a waste tbh

Until I can use a skill as a filibuster it's a bit of a waste for me as well.

i believe 2nd building will open when our point count reaches 10k.

afaik it is a communal effort, not individual like oxford

crazyhunter is correct, much like Oxford buildings, the entire server must work together to turn in submissions to unlock further buildings. Once we get the 2-star building, most classes will have at least 1 thesis open to them, which should hopefully make the remaining buildings easier to work towards.

Every class in the game that has an expert skill will end up with 2 possible effects they can get from the Boston Academy, and you can unlock a maximum of 4 slots for Boston skills.

So it may be dull, but I highly suggest everyone at least does some Fisher thesis turn-ins to both help the count along and open themselves up to the 2-star building once it develops. Catching Tuna counts as a "rare" trade good for that thesis so you can finish it up decently quickly.

Good info, thanks. I tried doing google searches about this and couldn’t find anything. So weird

I have done the privateer one about 20 times but switched out of the job to better utilize the profiency bonus we have going on.

i haven't read the details about the skills. So will a skill come out for each job out there as more buildings are opened?

Another suggestion is to repeatedly do the Art Dealer boston thesis and port-hopping between cities/towns whose markets have lots of type-3 trade goods (like arts, crafts, fibers, fabrics) and buying those type-3 trade goods (Genoa, Pisa, Antwerp, & Amsterdam are 4 of the cities/towns that come to mind).

Also, more information about Boston theses can be found in http://gvo.gamedb.info/wiki/?cmd=read&page=BostonAcademicSociety&word=Boston especially if you translate that into English.

personally, i have done two of the thesis for boston. the fisher job (which is very fast if you catch tuna by syracuse- the tuna count as advanced for 50 pages), and the trade merchant job (the skill will allow two trade skills to level up to 17).

perhaps the easiest way to complete job thesis is as a fisher. use the fisher job, fish at syracuse for tuna, and turn in research to mediators at naples. dont forget to train your storage skill with those fish.

Arms Dealer and Trade Merchant are also easy to complete thesis since all u need is buying PO1/PO3 trade goods. Nantes/Bordeaux have plenty of PO1 trade goods for Trade Merchant. Just like Arts Dealer, u can do hop between Naples, Pisa, or Genoa for PO3. Amsterdam-Oslo is also good route especially if u're tailor/yarn dealer.

I don't like one thing about thesis that'd be Maritime because those thesis are good for only NPCs not PVP.
