Battle skills passing rank 20?

A number of people are saying battle skills are going over rank 20 now, with ranks like 15+8 for gunnery and accuracy showing in their skill tab. Is this intended, a visual bug, etc? I currently cannot get any trade skills to pass r20.

    It was part of the update that allow certain skills to pass r20. The base limit is still the same cap at r16 with expert favor skills. I believe the voston college skill allows that to get to r17 but i have not confirmed that.

    As far as which skill can go higher than r20 I don't know other than plunder and assault from first hand knowledge.
    Both I have refined so that may play a part as well.

    Where are you max grinding plunder Culvern ?

    Damn here I am trying to fricken get rank 3 hand gun skills and am missing out on the skill boost event FML

    Any area that has high level fleets to go melee works.
    I have mostly worked the Newfoundland waters to work the BR and try plundering the SSB chests and special ship paints.
    I believe the black sea actually is better for melee grind but does not offer and high end rare item plunder.
    Plunder ranks much much quicker if using an aide with seize cargo skill.

    Thanks partner, which bounty fleet near Newfoundland drops the Special ship paint, ive heard of it but haven’t come across any ?

    Are they spawning near the area where I plunder the SSB chest?

    The special ship paint comes from the 'coastal pirate fleet and can be found in the whole area.
    Only some of them drop the paint. Seems if they are dropping cranberries they will not drop paint. No way to tell them apart though.

    @Culvern The special ship paint comes from the 'coastal pirate fleet and can be found in the whole area.

    I was told that you have to plunder the blue lead ship to get the chests and paint. Does it work for the regular ships as well?

    The ship engineer treasure box comes from the "disguised pirate fleet" and is only from the fleets that have the blue sailed frigate. You can plunder the chests from all the ships in that fleet.

    The ship paint is from "coastal pirates" fleet. And again all ships can give up paints.

    A quick correction.
    I had stated before that if the Coastal Pirate fleet dropped cranberries that they would not drop special ship paint. I have proven myself wrong by plundering a fleet of both.
    I had initially read it on ivyro and believed it since I had not seen it happen for a lot of fleets.

    Skills do not surpass r20 , it's most likely a visual bug :/

    Quite a few skills are allowed past r20 now. Not sure of which ones. The update notes mentioned this when it was released.

    Definitely going above 20. 

    I'm r17 base in a lot of the cannon skills (varies depending on the job I'm in) and am around r25 with gear on in almost all of my cannon skills.

    Yeah, I did a number of the Boston Schools. I don't remember the names atm and am not in a location where I can check.

    r16-17 though is over 20k skill prof required. It was a pain in the ###. But at r25 Pen, with just straight up cannon 18's, not modified, I broadside for over 700 against players with ships that have 110+ armor.
