Plunder EX

HelloAllHelloAll Posts: 701Member Intermediate
Hello, I’m currently failing at rare item plunder. In fact I’ve had more expensive goods plunder by the NPC than I have plundered myself xD

I have R13 plunder the increased success rate plundering x2 and rare item plunder from oxford. Also my aide has seize cargo at 100s.

I don’t want to give up and have a purpose made ship for it with APN BPA and CP.

I’ve spoke with some experience plunderers and they feel I’ve just been unlucky,

They often mention these plunder EX tho which I’m still a bit hazy on.

Can someone give me some more details on them please.

Maybe a screen shot so I can see what they look like and what they do.

Also are they difficult to get hold off?

Thanks all for your time.

Plunder EX is incredibly usefull, but also extremely expensive.
Some things you can do to improve plundering though:

    Get the Cranio Espada title
Get a bird pet (I've heard they should increase plunder chances but I don't know anything about the new pet system)

Also, if you have Successful Plundering 1 & 2 active you can get a maximum of 5 seizo cargo attempts at a time, after those 5 you'll have to retreat the melee fight and try again.

Other than that it's just luck, if you do refine plundering there's yet another rare plunder boost.

    Get some more plunder boosts.
Also the plunder ex swords are totally worth the money.
I went from getting 1 ship eng chest from every 2 fleet to getting 3-5 chests per fleet once I got the plunder ex.

Thanks guys. When do you know when to give up on a fleet? Like you can literally keep going for hours and hours, especially if you leave the battle ring and re engage once they loose to many crew.

@culvern also do you do the fleet alone? How do you manage it if so cos they are a not the easiest to manage if they are all shooting at you.
I thinned the fleet out by killing a few but that wasn’t easy in a job where my cannon skills are capped at 10

For plundering I made an FCV with APN & WMB(WMB is rather useless in PVE I noticed) That has max dura and nearly max armour.

This way the NPCs do not really hurt anymore, what you wanna do with the Ship Engineers chest fleet is to just let them shoot at you, over and over. Eventually their ammo will run out and even after leaving the circle and coming back in their ammo is still gone.
(Their items like ship engineers chests are infinite)
At this point they will not shoot at you anymore and keep trying to hug you.

As in to when to leave the fleet, I like to get their crew down as far as I can, then leave the circle and start the fight again.

    Tip
If you want to stop the melee fight, do not use retreat bells but use the normal retreat. It will do less damage against them and Seize Cargo can still be activated.

Also I would recommend to get a ship with DHP so you don't have to worry about crits as much. The MKW is a great plundering ship with max armour and BPA :)

    Thanks spookles, great tips.
I just recently made an Ingermanland with max dura and armour, so I have over 1400 dura and 70 armour as base.
I have apn, bpa and cp as ship skills too.

I guess I could do it like evasion grind, park on the line and spam repair until the run out of ammo.

    Again awesome tips, cheers boo

HelloAll your plunder rank doesn't matter. the plunder EX weapons are very useful, though i really wish they weren't so high attack. bookshelf SP, helps to keep NPCs alive as long as possible.

Cranio Espada as far as I can tell doesn't work for rare items, but does work for increased cargo you plunder. I had cranio espada title in OGP days, was very disappointed in the title.
The Ingermanland is a superb ship, I have an aide modded support build, +20% cargo, so can work for pvp aide or my alt's plunder ship, hope you haven't gone 8/8 yet so you could think of doing the same.

I have the Tarsier for a pet, land+sea plunder but it works when defeating enemies and the items you gain aren't from the fleet, they're usually items new to the game for the pet system such as accessories or consumables.

@Culvern you shouldn't be killing fleets. you can plunder literally hundreds of ship engineer chests or whatever item off the same fleet without killing them, also they run out of ammo which is nice.

I think most of them here told you the best plunder tips already ^^ The only thing I wish to add is the following:

    1) In case you wish to avoid increase of your attack power then these factors involves it:
    - Crew (+0.5 attack each), so don't hire too many sailors.
    - Battle level (+0.5 each), you can't avoid this especially when your purpose is maritime at the end.
    - Attack equipment (+0.25 each), best plunder EX are weapons sadly but  fortunate doesn't factor that much.
    - Swordplay (+3 each), bookshelf if possibe.
    - Melee battle support (+5 each), no one uses that fortunate for this purpose.
    - Crew ability (+0.1 each), keeping it low as possible is handy.
    2) Replace Command Post by WMB, because WMB does increase your base defence so it does apply under disorder. For rare item plunder is being disordered a heavens as you barely harm the npc while seizing their items. Just make sure you've APN along with plus smoke bomb of retreat (for emergency).

This is all I wish to add.

Goodluck on finding rare items mate ^_^

It's true you can leave the circle without killing the fleet so you can re-engage and continue to plunder them.
I usually do not do that since I find it easy enough just to grab the next fleet that respawns. They are fairly common. I was also using the fleets in the area for BRs at the time so needed to kill em.

I usually kill their crews too quickly in melee even when just using guard, but I do keep all my skills active since I am a pirate and often get attacked while in the area. Need to be able to defend myself.
