It's nice to know that I can get back to questing after a bounty of 7,5m.
Gonna take a while to get there, that's probably ~30-50k noto.

I pirated non stop for over a month. (I didn’t port camp) and only got around 650k bounty.

Annebony who was very active only got around 1m bounty and nukeshaw who port camps with a spotter only got to around 2m bounty, so I’m not sure how achievable this is with the Maris population.

I’m not complaining about it, I’m a white name now anyway but I find it a funny buff xD

I like the goal of  getting back to question, even though 7.5m bounty is very steep.
It was quite a shocker once I realised I couldn't quest anymore. This is very frustrating if you want a new job or grind your battle level with BRs, although I found a loophole to still quest as a pirate.

Oh, and in the next patch there are gonna be new events for pirates too. Piracy is being improved, were just behind on the patches :)

The negatives to being a pirate are endless while the benefits are near zero.......

I still find it fun being a pirate.

I have not hunted in about 3-4 months and only hit a few people when in the right place and I am still in the top 10!
Guess there is hardly any pirates actually hunting.

    @Culvern
There are currently people trying to pirate, but most of them get bored quickly cause they can't find anyone.

Fair is fair, the seas aren't very high traffic.

Oh and for anyone curious, there's a 'secret' benefit to pirating.

If you pirate in EA like I do you'll steal A TON of wares, especially if you have a high plunder like I do.
Do not trash these wares, do not trade these wares at once, do not sell these wares in SEA.

Go to any of the following nanban ports you have unlocked:
    Chongqing
    Hanyang
    Edo
    Anping

Trade 50 of your wares to the market keeper, sail out and back in. Do it again, rinse and repeat.

Eventually there's a chance of getting a nanban gift which can go up to 500m+ on the open market!

Oh that said, I don't like other pirates in my waters.

if you want nanban gifts just bring 50 fish (except anping - they dont like fish) and trade for 1 of something.
    all trades are equal.

    Yeah......
I tried hunting for awhile today and almost no one on the seas.

@spookles don't tell me you attack other reds/oranges! How savage. :)

While were on the topic of pirates anyway, what do you guys think of these 'pirates' that have an alt spotting outside ports to see if someone leaves port.
Their main then logs out at the edge of the safe zone, so when a trader does go out, he can log in be at full speed and traders have no chance of avoiding it.

Right now there are 2 'pirates' doing this, this annoys me for multiple reasons.
    • Traders have no chance
    • Traders get mad at pirates, giving us a bad name overall
    • These 'pirates' give traders a green flag, so as a normal pirate, there's nothing I can do anymore
    • I cannot kill these 'pirates' since they're not logged in
    • These 'pirates' do not lose noto while catching/looking for traders
It's disgusting and all because they can exploit some freedom of multiple toons we got.
From now on when I see such a 'pirate' his alt in my seas I will just anchor on the edge of the green zone too. Since both of these guys don't want to fight my anyway.
The only thing I can do against it, and I will is harassing these guys, wait for them to log in and then kill them and hope they cannot catch anything anymore.

I'd like to know others their opinions on this.

hummm idk why people has big problem with pirates its part of the game, pirates make the game more interesting and the thrill and rush. idk why some  does drama when get attacked.
all i can say is  "if you cant beat them join them then". :)
as for me im a lover not a fighter lolx :) so im useless atm on maritime. just  making money and adventure for now. my maritime will come soon :p

While I'm not exactly a fan of the whole spotter thing I'm not against it for 3 reasons

    1. I feel what you do with your alt is your own business

    2. Traders CAN use spotter alts as well

    3. If you crack down on pirate spotter alts you have to crack down on ALL players that multibox with their alts that includes TRADERS who use their alts to nanban with because you cant bash pirates for abusing alts and ignore the traders

Now some will argue but pirate spotter alts affect other people's game well so does traders when you multi nanban you greatly increase the chance of the next player after you getting crappy nanban rates so YES you also affect other people's game as well negatively.

So in the interest of fairness I dont really care about spotter alts and like I said traders can utilize spotter alts as well against pirates so its your choice if you choose too or not… shrugs

I can up against this boo.

It was nukeshaw and it annoyed my because at the time I was working my way to the top of the most wanted but he quickly left me behind easily.

I really don’t see the point in it, there is no thrill or chase, no intelligence needed.

For me real pirating is our thinking someone, chasing them down and also facing the chance of losing them.

A comp member of mine who at the time was in a different comp got booted because he was accused of selling his friends/comp members location to me.

I feel sad for him cos it isn’t true, but also happy because it shows I caught people in places they though it was impossible or very unlikely to be caught.

That’s also why i did a few posts about pirating in the past complaining about empty sea’s, because I would play the odds and pick somewhere i think a trader should be rather than wait outside a port.

So many times I would catch a trader in the middle of the sea and they would actually say ‘gg’

Now I prob can’t catch many, I use my oxfords for rare plunder and don’t want to keep spending money on speed boosts.

Who are the pirates and what are the spotters names? Name and shame em :)

    Just to reply to cpc.

I never used a spotter alt and I guess I can understand why people do that because since pirates can’t go of search then sometimes you would want to be out of the sea zone or traders won’t leave port at all.

But to log in just outside the green zone is just not sportsmanship in my opinion and it also takes an challenge out of the game.

I complain about piracy rules but I also expect it to be a challenge. I expect some to get away and I times maybe to even lose.

Doing the method described above takes and chance or challenge from it. Almost like a bot.

I wont name the actual players, pretty sure that is against the rules and a GM will close the thread.

I will however name their alts

Boo, your post on those lame-o pirates who exploit the game in that way illustrates yet another reason
why this game would be so much better off if everyone was allowed to use just one, and only character
    at a time.

I don't even know what can be done about it with the current rules in place, other than making people who log off persist in the world a bit longer - therefore making them vulnerable and making them reappear
further than their intended log-off location.

Yeah I agree on going back to 1 char active at the time aswell, I know most people disagree and it will never happen anyway.

The game was designed for one toon. If it was Intended for multiple toons you would be able to control the party of toons from one interface and would not have to open another session of the game.
Thousands of games have interfaces that allow you to control all your party members. This one does not because it was designed to have you play A character and not characters. Period. There is no way anyone can reasonable argue otherwise.
It's purpose is to have people actually group with other players. But instead everyone found ways to bend the rules to make it easier.

And before you say it- you can do everything without alts. I did it on gama. I was able to G6 all my ships without a single alt. I did all my own SBing. Anything that needed a skill that I did not have i would fleet with a friend or comp mates.

Storage? I managed that without alts as well.
So the 'you need alts' is BS. It's you Want alts.
I want millions of dollars because it would make life easier, I don't NEED millions.
