Um..... Guild wars 2, and that's just from the top of my head. I've played plenty other mmorpgs that are f2p and the only cash shop items in game are fashion-related (such as costumes).
The more I think about it, all the popular, good, rich in content etc, mmorpgs are not P2W, only obscure shit games like dekaron or those shitty browser or mobile games are.
Thats why I'm asking why they always say pay2win?.
instead they should say overprice item and gear.
every game now need profit to continue copyright. I think the right word should be OVERPRICE rather that PAY2WIN like what RAZEEER mention Guild Wars 2 they cash shop also So are the other games out there have cash shop.
Of course free to play games need some sort of cash shop in order to... well pay for everything, server upkeep, salaries of the staff members, advertising, etc etc, however p2w generally refers to (as the name suggest) pay in order to be competitive (varying from small amounts to high amounts of $) and offer absolutely no other alternative. In short, you can play it for free, but you will be wank pvp and/or pve wise and if you want to have access to the best items (or at least good enough items so that you can be competitive) you will have to pay real money for them.
Having a cash shop where you can buy fashionables(costumes, wings, hats or whatnot)/consumables such as exp boost, item drop rate boost/mounts/pets etc is not P2W, is just pay to support the game if you want to, and as a reward you get to look cooler (with no advantage over the other players), get a kick-ass companion for your journey and perhaps ease the leveling process, which you can totally do even if you don't pay, it will only take you a bit longer.
That's kind of the community's fault. Since money is what greases the wheels of the company. That's not a bad thing it itself. If you really want to circumvent what which you find problematic. Perhaps the expansion of party events on different levels need organization?
I think of games like Maplestory where at every set of levels. The party events are critical. Except getting help from others is not very difficult. Whereas in Dekaron you have to somehow make connections to extremely reluctant players. Who they have their own people whom to fall back and not waste time.
The most rapid way is clear. You must do party things, events, and find active guilds.
