How will it effect us?

Forgive the crappy title, but was wondering how Belgium's recent banning of various loot boxes will effect us here as the cap tickets seem very much like the same thing. Just me being curious.

I'm from the Netherlands, and as far I as know they are against the gambling rules once you are able to sell the items from the tickets for real life money.

So atm I don't think they are breaking the rules in the Netherlands atleast.

To quote from a dutch news website

"Doordat de prijzen te verhandelen zijn, krijgen ze een economische waarde. Spelers kunnen geld verdienen als ze een zeldzaam voorwerp krijgen. Daardoor overtreden de spellen de kansspelregels."

What they're saying is because the rewards are able to be sold/traded with real money those items will get a market value, at that point they are breaking the gambling rules here in the Netherlands.

Here they gave those companies 8 weeks to change their game, if they do not they will be forced to stop selling their game here.

Overall I don't think we have to worry about that in UWO, as there are hundreds of mobile games with lootboxes too and they haven't said anything about them yet. They're after the big companies with way more players. And besides, we cannot sell our ticket items for real life money, well ofcourse you could but you would probably get scammed 90% of the time.

I guess that this might be why most if not all games say you can't sell your accounts aswell so it covers them.

Laws might change - the loot box business model is increasingly being frowned upon. Its no longer just gamers who hate them. Its gambling marketed to children and if the de jure content of laws differ from what people wiev as the de facto situation laws are likely to change.
That "big" games like Battlefront, DOTA and Fifa get all the attention doesnt make small games like UWO be able to get away with it forever. If I were in the gaming industy I would be spending my resources on finding other ways to make money on my products rather than lobbying for lootboxes.
