Why so much hostility between certain players here in UWO?

Some people act like children, my 2 year old grandson behaves so much better than some players we have here and boy can he misbehave. I know I am a new ish player to UWO but it has spread out of control, you just have to read some comments on Ivyro and some youtube videos to see how people are. I'm shocked, I know this is the internet and all that, but from what I seen some people just can't help themselves to bicker with others or to try troll people that actually try and help people the best they can.

I'm sure some people will say it's Banter but this goes way beyond banter. Can someone explain why so hostile to each other?

People seem to be hostile to pirates because it inturpts their gameplay and now they can steal items from other players.

I guess it's like other games, some people just can't let go and have to then try to bring them down in world chat, forums and anywhere else they can.

I work on the theory that there is people in game that cannot make themselves look good on their own. So as a result, they feel the need to insult or put down others.

I been gone for a while but I think I have more than enough experience to answer this question lol

What you have to realize about this game is that yes there are normal in game beefs ie pirates or you scammed me or youre a noob thats nothing new But you have to realize there are REAL people behind these characters and their beef extends FAR beyond the bounds of the game into the real world. Theres so many different cultures ethics ideals backgrounds races biases upbringings ages political affiliations etc. then you put all these people together that would otherwise NEVER interact with one another you're bound to have problems.

You got some racist people who have to interact with black people or Old people conversing with younger people, conservatives arguing with liberals or losers who like to troll people trying irritate people who are hot tempered its just the way it is its inevitable.

Then add the second layer all these trolls hide behind their PC and wouldn't DARE say these things to the person face so it adds artificial courage so they are even more motivated to act a fool.

In closing beefs will happen we are just too different for it not to happen learn from my mistakes block those cucks or report dont engage too much or they'll curse you out then report you when you react its best to either laugh it off or playfully troll back dont take it too serious

There isn't that much hostility as in other games. It was better before the wipe though, imo. Somehow UWO seem to got more concentration of highschoolers after the wipe. The hostility may look more obsessive though because a lot of people with OCD play this game.

A lot of it is tongue and cheek, especially for those of us who have been around for awhile. I like to goof on a lot of my old friends AND frenimies.

It's kind of like sibling relationships. They love to pick on each other but also have a polite respect for each other- though they sure won't be saying it =p

No point in mincing words, there's people in this game who are complete bat-turd psychopaths. There's been numerous times someone said something in world chat and I just envisioned them playing the game in a padded cell with a laptop they got for good behavior.

That being said, the community has been very helpful for me. 9 times out of 10, even rude members will still take time to answer questions or give advice any time I asked. It's also worth noting that the majority of nicer players don't/rarely participate in world chat, but I've found they do monitor it just in case there's something of value or a new player they can help out and just PM them directly. It can get bad at times but it's important to remember, just like in other game communities, a few bad apples do not represent the silent majority.

I have 3 words for you: DON't FEED TROLLS that's because some players want to get attention or commit dishonest like if they don't get what they want then will start to act hostile toward you for stupid reasons. That's why you need to learn how to ignore them.

Hostility among players is the best part of the game. It encourages conflicts, then single pvp, then aggressive arms races on best ships / gears / cannons, then constant group pvp. If everybody is friendly to everyone else, there wont be pirating or ESF any more.

There was way more hostility than it has now.

I agree with Kat the conflict drives the game he has a point. I remember PrideOfEngland , jtw, AceT, ziad and even myself and many many others spawning huge conflicts that caused alot of activity hes right anger… is a motivator lol.

My only issues are when it becomes harassment like making tons of alts to get around blocks or when they would post hate articles on FB and ivyro the 100 million check page is a prime example.

Also people who try to involve GM or CA into their beef like intentionally trying to get people banned like telling all your friends to mass report people or reporting SS out of context to manipulate bans or kissing up to GM or CA to sway opinions.

As long as that stuff dont happen like it did on OGP i see nothing wrong with a lil conflict.

Cpc i think u missunder stand the concepts of making activity and just out right drama.Like LZ he use to go out of his way to cause drama in any way he could that was his goal .The only thing u said that was right was u putting lz and your self on the same lv both dramaqueens thats why both of u had been banned on the forms and lz banned in game The only activity u guys made was in the forms and chat.

2. You said I was banned on the forum by Coolwind because I was drama queen and you SUPPORT HIM so what about the other players who were banned by Saul? Were they drama queens too? There were MANY prominent players banned by him including some of YOUR own Friends who did nothing wrong. Glad to see you would side with that traitor to this game over your friends you have literally no spine and that makes you a traitor too just like him.

3. Once GM Coolwind was fired I had my account RESTORED due incompetence and falsehoods reported by him. Which means I was innocent didn't mention my account restoral on OGP I wonder why...

4. Many pirates chased me and ziad all the time . When I was dueling champ I had a dueling school and the tournament I was in had the largest turn out of any LB tournament. Auctions are always FULL of people bidding and having fun. I'm a Seville trader yet most people know who CPC is. The point is CONTROVERSY SELLS whether you like it or not and if players are dueling fighting chasing participating in events because of a player then thats proof it increases activity.

5. Lastly and MOST Importantly you're jealous that nobody knows you or even gives a damn what you have to say unless you mention me. You want Clout, recognition and fame and when other people who you deem unworththy of it are getting it you come on the forum and whine about it like a wuss like you just did. Stop hating make a name for yourself ON YOUR OWN and stop trying to mention other people just so people can pay attention to you. Thats not trolling that just proves you're a jealous cuck.

I've never had any problems with other players personally, but I'm about to have one pretty soon it looks like. There's some jackass on world chat that seems to think I'm farming alts, which I have never done and will not do. He didn't mention me by name but it was pretty clear who he was referring to, and I don't appreciate it. There will be major hostility if this POS keeps assuming he knows what I'm doing when he doesn't know his head from his ass from what I can tell.

For the record - sinking your own alts is stupid and anyone who thinks it's a good idea is even stupider. Play by the rules of the game, or don't play. And when you start losing and start accusing, then you're you're just a big loser.
