I dont think the traders of the game will be to pleased about this treasure cove thing, do you?
I think this will become a permanent thing, the Captains tickets days are numbered, and I think it's a good thing, having no more 250m or so tickets (Cheques as some people refer to them as) will help fix the economy, won't be perfect I will give it that, but should help, I just hope these keys are non tradeable and although 16 hours or so to go, I think it will be more website based like we had the bottles on OGP so should fix a bunch of economy problems, again won't be perfect and will have to see how it goes but it's a good start.
Also they will be listing the odds against certain things, so should be good.
I don't think going back to what the rules were 5 years ago or more is going to magically bring anything back either. The game has evolved, and it is what it is now. The only feasibly solution seems to build on what we have and try to attract some new players. Especially if it no longer suits the vets who got used to the old ways. The people like me that have been playing for 3 years or so are used to how it is now, and it has changed some in that time, mostly for the better from what I see. Maybe the game will die out, but I got more than what I expected so far when I heard that OGP was shutting it down. I will enjoy it at papaya while it lasts, and if it opens somewhere else after that I will consider my options. Maybe it will eventually be released as a stand alone game with only NPC's to interact with, if so I would probably play that too, but it wouldn't be as good as an MMO.
Retiring captain tickets won't help the economy or make things cheaper, it will just make it more inconvenient to pay for things. And if c tickets are retired permanently, that's just another case of GM's not understanding the details of what's important in the game. The economy has come to include c tickets as an important part, removing them would cause problems and not help anything. We do need a GM that plays the game (in a transparent way, and should probably be blocked from initiating battle with other players) to better understand what's going on.
This is what I'm talking about. The game obviously needed rebalance ofc but heres my issue theres never any compromise it literally treats traders like cattle to be harvested. Never taking into account that traders leaving sparked the initial piracy nerfs. 1 min green to escape? 5min if sunk? Are you serious?
You need to be VERY CAREFUL what you ask for alot of you pirates don't land battle and know nothing about it… if you did you'd understand that immense fortune can be made at bourduex dungeon its easy in safe waters has lots of profitable things no esbt needed and most importantly NO RISK OF PIRACY. Do you want every trader to be a dungeoneer again and make the seas completely empty.
There MUST be more thought put into this nanban is not the only way to make $. It needs to be fair so that players still want to sail and wont be forced to dungeon because trust me THEY'LL DO IT they did it before when FSD was introduced. EASE UP or create more dungeoneers choice is yours…
1 minute flag to escape pssh they'd be in bouduex dungeoning so fast lol.
10 min flag if defeated that's enough time to port or at least get away
5 min flag if you escape or trib
Same pirate cant attack same trader for 30mins to 1 hour
Landing cancels flag
Removal of fine tribs from boxes or make more rare.
Soon as you attack a white or blue name you turn red or orange whether you sink them or not. (Stops use of alts to create a chain of green flag)
Add money on person incentive
You get a bonus to speed if you have $ on your person. 25 mil for 10% speed boost and 20% boost for 50mil(can play around with the number amount could be 10 mil I guess) . No bonus for blue flag. This makes getting tribbed profitable and add incentive to attack BH or pirates carrying that cash for the bonus.
OR
Leave everything the same as the diagram says. Add the money on person incentive.

Money on person incentive really adds a cool advantage if you're willing to play w/ more risks not just traders but pirates and BH too.
If you want people to trade more, there needs to be more reason to trade. Really, the only thing that's worth trading right now is nanban or spice from anbon. Regular trade goods do not have enough market variance to make a good profit. And a lot of times you see prices at 40%, but you never see them at 200%. More variability in prices, including higher AND lower prices on regular goods would help.
lootboxes/tickets is a rotten business model - I think Papaya should spend their time on figuring out how to generate income other than just repacjaging lootboxes.
Its just a matter of time before they become banned - they already are in some jurisdictions and they definitely should be as anything but REGULATED gambling in an adults only environment,
Some people don't like gambling, others prefer to let people do as they please. I'm one of those that minds my own business and like it if other people will leave it to me. In addition to the gambling fun aspect, the current captain tickets provide a valuable way to carry more cash equivalent since you can only carry 200 100m checks. I want more options for the game, not less.
As the new Treasure Cove Keys proves that Papaya has listened to our suggestions. We have asked for the recycle option back - we got it. We asked for the odds of prizes - we got it. We asked to have prizes stored like we had with bottle system - we got it.
I think papaya is trying harder than OGP did, but small things like disrupting the current captain ticket system, instead of just adding to it, is an example of something they changed without really understanding the effects it would have on the economy, not to mention the panic it would cause among those that have a lot of them right now. Adding things is good, but before removing things you should follow the rule of measure 10 times, cut once.
Does papaya generally email the player base for in-game events, ESF, notifications, new ages or even ticket contents to our emails?
Unless I have something turned off in my settings; I have never seen anything come to my email from Papaya advertising this game whatsoever. I would welcome emails from papaya for events as it would certainly keep myself and most players up-to-date on current or up-coming events and may even entice some to come back.
Hi all, first of all +1 to WesDoobner. Yes PP is doing a good job, not great but they are moving as best as they can, my opinion anyway. As Culvern said above, we are getting most of what many require but yes its just never enough for some and hence the whinning goes on.
Just a thought here, since i myself have experienced the golden era of no holds barred during NM era, yes it was so active back then, it was great. Lets go back to that setting - dungeons rule, no nerfs from drops being near or far does not make any difference. Inspite of this ppl still sailed around, battled here and there not giving a 2 hoots to the plunder effects. Why was this? Ahhh, i will tell you - coz there was no forged equip or cannons bs. All were equal, only difference was the the choices of equipment you can acquire from the shops through cash which gave a minor advantage over some.
The main difference came from how much time you put into grinding your skills and ability. We didn't have EA back then, all were doing spice runs. Wow, as i think back that was a great sight - traffic jams between Ternate and Ambon inspite of SL blocking the entire exits of SEA. Yes, bring this back, NO HOLDS BARRED era but un-nerfed all dungeons as before and i will guarantee the whinning still goes on.
Game didnt decline solely on inflation, the major effect was when forging BS came - huge drop after that. The fun of battle was over, game was active because many were into the Adrenalin rush from a pirate chase, chasing a pirate or even company rivalry. When forging came, that dropped drastically, ex: half of SL just quit instantly not to mention other maritime comps. Then came DB - Nail in the Coffin.
So as for me, i will play and enjoy the game as long as its here instead of logging in, sitting around and whinning till kingdom comes. Reality check - its a game and freedom of choice comes into play. Do i want it to go back as it was, hell yeah but in the meantime, i will play it as it is.
Want the game to change? Change yourselves first. Perfect example would be the BS and vile that comes out in Merc chat.
GM's have much more influence and control in the creativity, direction and substance implementation outside of the game and some don't trust them to breathe and move within the game?
In any MMORPG, gaming structure is greatly improved when GMs participate and know the game in which they are responsible for guiding and administrating.
You have obviously never had a job that required a startup or troubleshooting. You have no idea what you are speaking to. Instead of complaining perhaps you should be thanking them for taking the time to gwtbit working.
> As the new Treasure Cove Keys proves that Papaya has listened to our suggestions.
I think this was planned all along. To have a year of people filling alts with unneeded trash from overpriced lootboxes that they couldn't sell, lose all faith, and then doing what was obvious and was present in the game years ago already, to "look good" and persuade those who catch on this to spend even more, on repackaged overpriced lootboxes.
What we got indeed looks slightly better than what it was, but it doesn't either "prove that PP listens" nor makes a proper shop.
I didn't mean me, there were people complaining on this forum who never tried to sell seriously (and who used far more tickets than I did). It is true though that selling ticket trash (or anything non-consumable / non top-tier at all) takes time, often a lot of it.
It can take time, lots of time or a little depending on what you want to sell for. I've seen people shouting for days trying to sell items for 5m, I would simply sell them in my bazaar for 1m and be done with it. I'll use the time I saved to make 100's of millions by actually playing the game. Some people don't seem to be able to reconcile the time it takes to make money with how much they're making.
My dad, who worked as a used car salesman at the Chevy dealership in his older years, told me something that I remember to to this day - he said he would rather sell a car on the same day it comes in for a $200 profit, rather than let it sit on the lot for 30 days and make a $2000 profit. It all has to do with the time value of money.
What you say is still looking for excuses for this dirty system. I don't want to be forced into gambling. I want to buy an SHC and nothing else, PP knows this. With the current "improved" rate it'll take 1000 tickets, $2 each. I don't want to spend months selling $1900 worth of trash, I don't want to sell it at 50% market rate and lose $1000 (a ship in UWO cannot be worth this much, this isn't Entropia Universe or EVE Online), I don't want to spend $2000 on this game in the first place (oooh, PP knows this soooooo much); and to top it off - I don't want to exchange money for ducats - I want to earn my ducats using SHC that I bought, having to sell ticket trash is ruining my expected experience.
Naver probably deserves to be hijacked, but regardless of your wishes, that is not the business model. You have two choices, buy tickets until you get the ship you want, or stack ducats until you can buy from someone who did. If you don't like that, it's understandable, but not a reason for papaya to change if it works better for them like that. Perhaps someday you will be able to purchase ships from the store. Not now though.

Papaya is and has been doing what we ask.
I love the idea Carssman has about emailing us all about new stuff and events.
Bear that in mind, I mean gees we have a forum, game managers, but still no news. after 8 plus hours
It is just shabby treatment
