"I have gotten most of that just by playing and having fun! perhaps you should try it."
Because some players (myself included, I suppose) don't play the way YOU play, doesn't mean we aren't having fun. It's no fun though when some items are WAY out of your price range, but I find ways around them usually.
I think pirates should have fun too. Maybe I was wrong - maybe we should have unlimited farming after all; besides, there are plenty of ducats to go around, right? You can be interrupted while generating or transporting ducats, or goods, right? They are equal players, right? They are allowed to make money, right? Or is their way of making money inferior to yours because you are elite and spoiled and you want to have your way? Or is it suddenly a problem when your gameplay mode is interrupted, yet everyone blames piracy for what is wrong in the game? Pirates aren't the problem - you are.
You have been doing it your way for years with poor results, especially judging from ivyro comments (and elsewhere) throughout the years regarding the economy.
So lack of acess to what OP items harms newbies in any way ?
What are those super expensive items no newbie can do without ?
BTW - many items i n comp shops are priced NOT to sell by players who use them as a place to store things. They put a price on the items that is so high that no sane person would buy them - they dont want to sell.
Why do you persist in bringing up that social justice warrior crap up ? Are you an IRL communist or radical socialist ? You sure do argue like one.
Let's just agree to disagree on most points, since we're going in circles and we're probably not going to agree with each other anyway. Interestingly, I listened in on merchant chat last night (ending up swapping for an item I was looking for ironically) and there was a person spewing prices that were questioned. I was glad to see that for sure. An item was "suggested" at 300M, someone said it's not worth that, and seller sold it for 100M. So I know on this I am right. Some of the prices are completely arbitrary and are randomly coming out of someone's head, the people are handing over their ducats like slaves, and no convincing by you or anyone else will convince me otherwise.

Yes, I am not talking about those items.

You argue like a radical capitalist, and totally are on the side of the individual rather than the community. In real life, I am more socialist in my views, but definitely not a communist, since I believe in an individual owning private property. Zeroing in on someone's views as the basis or part of an argument is the hallmark or a poor debater. You should be a politician.
The whole theme of this game is unrestrained captitalism, that's the method of play and the over riding goal. Getting more money/loot=you win. That's what the game is about, if you can't win or can't simply enjoy the parts of the game you are able to comprehend, then play something else.
Wow, I expected a better comment than that from you. The theme of this game is unrestrained capitalism? What planet are you on?
I win more than lose in pvp, I am able to generate ducats without nanban droning, I help(ed) players with their crafting and maritime skills, and I can go on. I think I have a pretty good idea of what the game is about.
I also comprehend the subset of players that are making it look like an unrestrained capitalist arena, but it isn't. You're demonstrating the disease that is causing all the game's economic problems. In fact, I was talking to a nanban runner (with his clermonts and all) and how frustrated he his drilling nanban to keep up with the prices so he can buy cash parts to mod his ship.
Players like yourself (as demonstrated by your comment) and the elite cliques you are a part of have frustrated many players, and you have taken away from the real theme of the game, as well as some of the player's enjoyment. I doubt you will agree with me; such players are so convinced of the rightness of their way because you have been doing it for so long, and no one has questioned it. It's tantamount to economic slavery.
Sad.
As an aside, players who spend money on uwc or tickets/keys (including myself) are NOT entitled to receive what we please in ducats, just because we spent real money. The current economic uwc in-game trade system in the game needs to be destroyed, because the ducat generation via EA and SEA is completely unrestrained fueled by the price fixers of uwc items.
What this game needs is a capital tax on ducats. At the top tier, there would be a 100% tax in real time after a certain limit in cheques is reached. The tiers then drop to various percentages correlating with an enhanced time span as the tiers drop; therefore, the more money stashed, the more it's taxed coupled with a shorter time cycle as the tier rises.. Obviously, the rate would be 0% at the lowest tiers and then rise to 100% gradually. The people that have zillions currently will lose it, and prices will drop as a result, because the money supply will be reduced.
So if you want unrestrained capitalism, I propose a method to counter it.
@WhiteJacket, you seem to have highly over-rated my potential commenting ability if you were expecting much more than what I said. This is a game of buying and selling, run out of money and there's not much you can do. Try it and see if you don't believe me. As for elite cliques, I'm not really sure what that is, but I play the game with one alt at a time, just enough to have a fleet and participate in fleet events. I will buy as cheap as I can, and I will sell my items, both UWC items and game obtained items, for the price I want to sell for, or they will not be sold. end transmission.
jeez I didn't even get around to reading the last few sentences of that manifesto until just now - that idea is insane and totally insane, and would ruin the game, except for maybe followers of karl marx and hugo chavez.
I think your comments are quite good overall; that's why I was surprised at your last comment.
I'm not a Marxist though. But, yes, 100% is extreme, I will admit. But so are (many) prices; in fact, world chat was just talking about it; many probably just don't post due to the simple reason that many don't want to fix what's broken.
It would not ruin the game at all. It would ruin the gameplay for people who are used to getting the prices that they think they are entitled to.
The Chavez comparison is inappropriate; no one would be "collecting" the ducats per se. I am simply giving an example of draining the excess ducats from the economy, and "tax" seemed the appropriate word.
Oh i don't know, we might have some volunteers to go around collecting. But if anything, let's just revert to Robin Hood, pirates can rob the rich and give to the poor. Wait a minute.....the pirates are the poor ones.....so that's not working. hmmmm, lots to ponder.
Sadly, no golden aide skill book (forgot the exact name, it adds a skill to an aide) this Treasure Cove even after 40 or something keys used, although I did snag up to a few ships.
So how many 10^8s of ducats are those golden aide skill books going to cost me to buy one?
The reason I ask about the price of it is that I was asking for fair market value of something I was wanting to obtain, but I don't recall anyone selling one yet, but then again, I only played UWO at certain evening hours usa edt time zone (I have a full time job, thus doesn't play on a 24/7 basis like some probably do), as I have dozens of billions of ducats worth of ships collectively from bot SLS-era captain tix and Current treasure cove, plus billions of ducats worth of ship parts sitting in shared storage & strongboxes.
It's just that theres a ridiculously large number of different items per treasure cove, meaning that, randomly, it's all too easy to not get one of some low-to-mid nonship item (aide skill books, particular ship parts, particular equipment clothes, & the like) due to pseudorandom RNG nature thereof.
Or did Papaya forget to put that golden aide skill book into treasure cove & falsely advertised as a result?
@Ownvinll it was obviously a joke, so you can eat a big pile of shit if you can't take it. Don't come at me with your snide remark crap, or you will get a lot more remarks that you won't like either. If you're not adult enough to engage in a normal conversation then get the fuck out, douchebag. With your stupid RLLLLLLLS too.

Your snide remark is uncalled for.
