Which ship is the best price / quality at the beginning

Biel93Biel93 Posts: 2Member Beginner
Hi, I'm a beginner, but I have experience with other games like EVE Online.
I have a question about the later stage (but still when I'm a beginner) and available ships.
Are there any specialists on the forum who will advise me which ship is the best price / quality ratio?

If you are talking about the grad ships, i find the grad polacca seems to be the best starting for cargo to speed ratio.

Need to know your levels and budget and what you plan to do in the game to really answer  that question or else we're just throwing out ships and prices with you can't afford or don't need...but I'll try to answer

If you're just starting the School awarded ship is Free and is fast just complete school to get it.  After that for trade typically Trading large Galleon is good as it can be used for battle grind or for Trade primarily trade and boasts a spacious 944 cargo I believe for only like 25 mil for a rank 20 one but a none rank 20 can be as low as 5 mil or free if your company director makes one for you. Then trading clipper at 52 lvl trade for 25-35 mil then Big Trading Clipper at 64 trade or long merchant Schooner 60-65 mil or Clairmont HUGE cargo 1460 iirc and I think the price is 100 or 150mil ask in world chat.

If you do adventure tow cutter is pretty fast and storm proof and cheap like 15 or 20mil. Then you graduate to clipper or trading clipper 25-35 mil then eventually Long schooner  or even long merchant schooner for 60 -65mil.

For battle...TLG 25 -35mil, La reale 30 mil ish  ,then finally. vaisseui will run about 65mil

Anything after this is up to you and your money as after these are cash ships so if you got 500mil and over you can start buying cash shis like custom long schooner or custom Vaisseiu etc.  Hope this helps good luck

Since you're beginner, you should just stick with school ships ,but you will need to fleet with player that has r5 sbing for refit. Ofc, you can do it by yourself if you're r5+ sber.

As for battle report quests at Nation starters, I used Memorial Cruise Sloop with 30 crews and 16 guns ,so I never had problem to complete quests by sunk 200 ships and defeated 4 bosses even though I had to use Reserve Candles when I had lack of gunnery skills to start with. I built Nao (4/5) then Heavy Carrack (4/6) for battle reports at Stockholm and Calicut. I regret that I went with HC because I thought WMB would boost my melee ,but I am not dedicated to rehire crews over and over again lol. I should have gone with Refitted Heavy Carrack. Oh, I also used Taiwanese Ships for my main toons.

Adventure- Graduation Sambuk->Transport Swift Schooner->Long Schooner or any high tier ships

TSS can have near 500 vert and has best crews/cargo ratio. It can be built at Havana with Large Flush Deck style hull while you will want to bring Teak Panelling with you or buy one at SF then u can build TSS with that panelling (just scroll up till u see Teak Panelling.

As for salvagers, Cruise Galleon or San Gabriel is good ship to use since CG has better ceiling especially armour and dura while SG has better skills especially Reference Room.

If you can afford to mod ships, you should try one of Sha-Chuans since they're near 40's level ships and probably are faster than mid ships ie TSS.

Trade- Graduation Polacca->Ghanjah Dhow->any high tier ships ie BTC, LMS, Flying Cloud, etc

I also recommend you to use slow ships ie Clermonts without fuels or TLG for grinding management while sailing within short range of 2 ports.

Battle- Graduation Frigate->Heavy Carrack->Vaisseau or Galleass->any high tier ships.

Nao is my fav ship for battle report because it needs only 0/20/6 and has 3 broadsides and more cargo if u don't plan to use Survival. Recon Nao is good too. Heavy Carrack and Heavy Galleon is good too but don't sail without mod. Armed Sha-Chuan is beast in battle ,so if u plan to participate ESF someday then make sure build this ship and mod fully since it's one of best medium ships beside Shadow Armed Sha-Chuan.

i wouldn't even consider a Nao it has a little more crew than graduation frigate but less dura, armor and speed.
you can perfectly sail a Grad Frigate after you do school, and it can last without issue until you are about 35 for battle galleon or 42 for SuperCorvette, or 44 for heavy galleon... you could continue on that frigate until 52 for Vaiss directly but above 40 your leveling will slow down since your ship will be grossly out tiered by the enemies which give you effective exp(low tier battle reports are unlikely to give you a level each at this point).
on the budget tier of UWC ships you can get a few for 500 but nothing too fancy there mostly grinders like MSSX,  MSC or Vasa around 1.5b are the actually useful ships with ANL/INL/Ingermanland perhaps some others haven't paid attention to the market this week.

    For trade:
Up to lvl 32 use school ships, 32 Trade Xebec is a good choise, at 44 there are Trade Large Galleon for crafting or Big trading schooner for long range trade runs, at 52 Trade Clipper

    For Battle
there are no ships that are a grate upgrade over Graduation frigate up to a level 40, around level 40 there
are Naval Xebec, Supper corvette, Armed Sha-chuan

Wanted to say thank you for these responses. This thread was very helpful. I have been using a CLC to get around, and while it does a fine job, the cargo space leaves a lot to be desired. I decided to buy a trading galleon (not the large galleon, the lower level 30 something one) and while it has more cargo space its speed is absolutely god awful.

I thought about modding it to ease the pain of its slow speed, but ultimately decided that would be a huge waste considering I'm only a few levels away from the trading large galleon anyway.

The best I can think of is get rid of the trading galleon and either stick with the CLC (aide has high cargo Siam) or bring up battle levels a bit so I can use a trading xebec. Unless you guys know a better way I should do this.

The trading large galleon will also be very slow.
For speed stick with clippers or schooners.

Swift Transport Schooner, Big Trading Schooner, Large Survey Schooner, or Big Transport Schooner can be built at Havana. They're pretty fast. Oh u can buy Teak at SF then build one of these ships with that panel.

yes for speed you have little choices around that level Xebecs/Quebecs and Transport Sha-Chuan will have the best compromise between speed and cargo, i would say either Swift Quebec and Transport Quebec are better choices than a straight Trading Xebec, if you don't mind the asian ship look Transport Sha-Chuan is another solid choice even more speed but needs fusion or OSP to get EA unlike the Quebecs.

if you rather have a galleon flemish galleon is better option over the lv35 trade galleon.

at 44+ i personally prefer Dutch Indiaman over TLG slightly faster bigger cargo and less crew, many people take BigTrading Schooner or Transport Swift Schooner with which you sacrifice a little cargo but the V sail is better all around.  those should be enough until lv52 clipper.
