What is the use of Salvage R10+?

Is there any reason to be in Salvager Job after R10 Salvage?
I have a G3 Cruise High Clipper with exploration refit and Haul assist.
I have no haul skill and R10 Salvage.
I have not discarded a single map and only had the ropes break a
total of ONE time in all 160+ wrecks. I also sail at top speed while
towing a wreck.
Is there any reason to increase Salvage skill?
Why not be in Thief Job when raising wrecks...
Experienced salvager's comments are appreciated.

On Gama from personal experience I had a shipwreck just north of Edo.

I tried doing a nanban run so would been in trade job, bazzar my nanban goods for safety and proceeded to the shipwreck, I tried for about an hour to get it, different positions etc the usual tricks.

The ropes would constantly break at 80, 90 or even 95%

I even had some boosters and used those, total rank would been 12.

I returned another day with Salvage skill at 16 (switched jobs) and got it up first time.

Touch wood thats the only shipwreck I have had any trouble with, so it can be worth getting the highest even if most of the time it's in reserve.

I leave the choice up to you, but thats my one and only experience I can think where I needed more and could be totally unrelated and just had a better day when I went back. But I can only speak of my experience.

what a horrible waste to add exploration refit to a cruise high clipper.

while i don't actually think r10+ salvage would do any benefit anyway, you don't see a difference because of exploration refit which cuts difficulty so much that you could raise any ship with r5 or so.

i actually refuse to add exploration refit to any ship now since it makes it too easy, and cuts salvage exp to 1/10 or so since you pull 9* with the same dificulty of a 3* without.

    The Exploration refit was intentional.
I think that every skill added to a ship has a purpose.   All of my skills are fairly high, so I added what would give me the most advantage for my play style.
Exploration Refit is +10% xp for adventure at sea which over time is significant.
It really helps when you are level 84 adventure and need 550k for that last level.

With such ship setup (about the same skill set as what I run), no, salvage r10+ has little effect. At that point, the only reason why you'd be in Salvager job is to take advantage of Salvager's Intuition 1 boston research skill.

Exploration ship refit makes salvaging quite trouble free even without having hundreds of crew to carry around. I've made my aide ship as a salvage ship so I wouldn't have to worry about switching ship at port to raise/haul wrecks, I can just get to the wreck in my ship and switch at the spot. No hassle. As an aide ship I don't want it to have high crew count, so it works. IMO any sailing salvage ship should have exploration ship refit, unless you like pain and broken ropes, or you like having 100+ crew.

In GAMA I used to have a cruise light clipper with the skill, I carried 18 sailors and liked how they don't use up supplies fast. People said I was crazy, but there wasn't any wreck that ship couldn't raise.

At the end it all depends on the player's play style. If it works for you, then it's good.

Bonus points for having 10% extra exp like mentioned above when the discovery is at sea. I can quickly switch to my aide ship to get 10% extra and switch back for speed. It makes quite a difference for high exp items like astronomical objects.
