Confused about Aides

Little confused about Aides, how they work and what I can get out of them.

The skills they have, do they provide them to me? If I get an Aide that has for instance the Livestock Trading skill, do I then act as if I have that skill when accessing markets?

Overall, how can aides help a new trader like myself?
