Question after a year.

Hello friends, I hope you are all doing well. Had a question
for you. When the wipe happened about a year ago myself and some others
who I live with all started playing. There were 5 of us in total, we are
a small group of people who always run our own servers on games like
ARK and the forest and such and play together.

We had played for a short while before realizing there might be
problems because of the rules of toons/IP that were set in place because
of people multiboxing the game.. I don't really care if people do that
or not and don't want the thread t become about it lol.. My group and
myself all only play 1 character anyway , none of us wanted any others.

I guess I was just wondering if we
did start playing again if anything had changed regarding the way that
this rule works or if I fleeted with a group of 5 (All different people
but all from the same IP) if I there was still a chance to get banned.
Or have other measures been taken to combat the problem the rule was put
in place for in the first place to where I could play with my group.

I have come back to read the forum lately and it seems like people are
talking about this going to Steam, I guess once that happens maybe we
would be able to play depending on how things went from that transition
if it were to happen. Anyway thanks in advance my friends. Good day.

you can't play more than 3 accounts from the same ip. Not sure if it works differently though steam.

The rules works as follows:

One person is not allowed to have more than 3 characters active at once.

However the only way to get banned for doing this (going over 3 characters) is when another player reports you for multiboxing.

Papaya will check and see if there are 5 characters active from 1 IP address, if yes you get a ban.

So unless you guys are planning to have 1 guy in a lead ship and your 4 other friends in a clermont. I don't think you'll have much issues, but yes if a player does report you, you do risk getting banned.

btw those bans aren't permanent, first time is a week, next a month, then a year or something but don't quote me on that

Just dont fleet together and you will be fine.

It is not practical for GMs to constantly scan the server for multi. They rely on citizen arrest from other players via ticket system.

Just dont look suspicious and no one will report you, even though you run 3x3 fleets.

Thank you for replying. Guess can't come back then lol... I don't want to start playing a game with people only to not be able to play the game with those people.

Also don't you think this rule is odd anyway? I am just curious on your opinions. It really is like acknowledging a problem, then not fixing it and also hurting people that want to play from the same ip. I wish somehow there was a way to talk to somebody for such circumstances. I put something up on the suggestion thread but for some reason I doubt it gets looked at often.

Well, 3 toons per household per IP is fair. Either you can play all three yourself or you can share 1 toon each per (3) family members.

Is that the same in life like "You are NOT a thief until you get caught?"

@00Syhn00 they made the rule for good reason. There's always going to be someone that will exploit a system and ruin it for everyone else. In this case some people will exploit the extra accounts to multibox many toons and have an un fair advantage over others. Those people want everything right away instead of working for it but UWO is a marathon not a sprint.
