Returning Players - Player Base active?

There are a few of us who used to play this game who are looking at giving it a try again. We have been playing a mobile game, Ocean Legends, that is closing.

How active is the player base in this game these days? Anything else to consider since it appears Papaya deleted all of our OGP/Netmarble characters?

    There's an exp-boost event on right now, so it's a good time to start.

    Thanks for the responses. Disappointing that characters got wiped. Not looking forward to ranking SB to 20 again... Other than that, game still seems to have gotten quite a bit of new content in the last 4 years and seems like it’s going to be fun,

    There's new content and the player base is rather sufficient, especially after the Steam launch an on weekends. Somebody's always passing choke points like Gibraltar or Cape Town, bazaars in Seville are present, however I believe there were times when there were more. A visually noticeable increase in players is present over the last week.
    You don't have to grind SB, the SB system was revamped. It is easier to hire R20 SBers, they're always present (I get a feeling they don't even have enough clientele). Besides, it is far more difficult to grind SB now (probably even with the current 400% boost), despite all the rest of the game being made simplified compared to what it was before.
    Overall, it's pretty much the same as it was with OGP.
