Updater issue that isn't solved by the anticheat installation

I've just installed the game after many years away and already have a problem even getting the core application to launch. So naturally after 5 seconds of standard thought capacity I check "technical support forums" I see there is a solution involving the anti cheat program being installed manually if the automatic way fails. I employ the solution. Surely enough I click through launcher, updater comes up, still no launch on clicking "start". So I give the pc a restart and try again, I even "check file" again. Still nothing. 

At this point I've already determined that a decent size sub group of players are also having this issue, some newly installed/reinstalled players like me, and some even current players and unsurprisingly to me the issue isn't even acknowledged on the tech support forums besides a barrage of "did you install the anti cheat?"

    Hey nubshot,

    There are a few things it could be.

    If you have an Anti Virus program on your PC could you check to see that no files from the War Rock or EAC folder have been Quarantined.
