Clermont for Aide

So there's that message warning of a slowdown if you have Clermont for your aide without coal, but has anyone tested if it is actually true? Maybe that message just means that it won't go as fast as with coal?

Apparently if the ship is used on either your char or aide then yes ypu need fuel. This is why you will see people using Claremonts for their alts instead since alt ships don't affect admirals' speed.

Yes, but I'm asking exactly because I've seen way too many people using and recommending Clermont for the admiral's aide.

I think your aide ship would get a speed penalty even if you had coal fuel.

management+nav combined ranks need to be = 30 otherwise you get 5% speed penalty

I use clermonts for my aide unless I'm doing a ship race, the speed penalty in not really noticeable.

Clemont encourages multi. This ship should either be banned or fixed so that it does not slow down on aide.

I believe that release of Clermont and Bonanza box is the most terrible and irreversible mistake by Papaya.

Cept papaya didn't add the Claremont to the game. All content comes from Koei not papaya. Papaya has nothing to do with the Asian servers and yet the claremont is on them as well as other high power ships that we haven't even seen released on Maris yet. They don't seem bothered by the Claremont so i don't see why all of you should be. You people need to stop blaming papaya for everything.

Then, I would say I blame KOEI for it. But I dont think distinction between KOEI and Papaya is so essential for us.

Remember there is a customer-client relationship between Koei and Papaya.

Yes all content comes from Koei. But Papaya does not have to buy all content available.

The publisher manages the game so as to make money from it's market. They choose what to take from what's on offer.

On the face of it choosing to introduce a steam ship must have seemed a good idea. Would you have voted against it at the time?

I don't use them, even on my traders. UWO for me is a role playing game, and I'm still in the age of sail.

@lefox271 "Yes all content comes from Koei. Nut Papaya does not have to buy all content available."

Problem with this is then people complain that they are not getting complete game. Already look at the whining from people that have less powerful gear/ships from others. They complain that they are not getting "full" game even though if they put effort into it they could.

When the Claremont was first advertised everyone was excited about it even though they knew it had a much larger cargo. It wasn't until people actually used it that they saw an imbalance. So how is Papaya suppose to know what works and what doesn't unless they try?

Personally, I'd rather have the FULL content available to customize my game than to be forced to play with less options. It's all about growing and adapting to change that keeps this game fresh and fun to play. Just because somthing is in game doesn't mean you have to use it. I don't use Claremont for my main, i use MNM. Thats my choice and i have to adapt when i see others using it, simple.
