ONE Bamboo Broom

ONE Bamboo Broom   (a.k.a. Unreasonable Deliveries)

T'was the Time of Delivery, for Barter-Town in Genoa;
Time to sail and to search, like the Ark did, of Noah.

Hmm . . . White Smoke Bombs; Sounds good, except then
I looked up the recipe; Ugh, Alchemy 10

Look, here's Improved Rope, (Ain't that used to tow boats?)
Well now maybe there's hope, Sewing 8, oh well . . . nope.

Extravagant Necklace (why?) Sounds expensive and high,
It's a quest, My oh My.  Have to pass this one, bye.

Improved Justaucorps, That needs sewing 12
or 11 and Alchemy 11 . . .that idea, had to shelve.

Lastly, Bamboo Broom,  Not too hard, I presume
with Search 4,  I assume,  I'll find many a Broom.

Such fond memories, like CPC in Seville,
Beating down landfoes, with that broom she did wield.

I'll Be sure with Search 4, Horus' staff will add 2.
Hmmm, maybe some more: Diamond brooch adds 2, too.

Removed all but what I need to survive,
when finished,  empty inventory totaled 35.

South Mediterranean Landing, Mammal Bones is where,
I will use my Search 8, and find Bamboo Brooms there.

Got many Wood Spears, and many Dull Cutlasses,
and many strange-looking Iron-wire Hunting Nets.

Iron-wire Net, is funny, it looks like a thing,
to cover your face, to protect you when fencing.

Buccaneer waistcoats, I dug up so many,
makes me wonder why, nice clothing they'd bury.

Found many more things, so stange and bizarre,
and what practical use is the Dull Scimitar?

And a ton of sand, and even more Waistcoats,
and even Grass-stained Adventurer's Notes.

Quadrants galore, and more, quite near,
was a big store of shiny new Fishing Gear.

But, one thing was missing, I could not exhume,
The elusive rare, mysterious Bamboo Broom.

Am I in the right place?  I had little more room,
when after 2 hours, I dug up ONE Broom.

I had 100 grass, I made Vegetable oils
and sailed to Benghazi, to clear out my spoils.

Back at Mammal Bones was I, where 2 hours I stood,
and found only ONE Broom, that cannot be good.

All day did I swing that Pickaxe, I was sore,
but a Bamboo Broom, I did not find any more.

Day 2, many trips to Benghazi; I ran out of room.
300K from Shopkeeper, still ONE Bamboo Broom.

Day 3, I could see, that there'll not be much glee,
ONE Bamboo Broom, this game LOVES Trolling me.

Day 4, I could stand no more, everything the same,
with the Bamboo Broom, most elusive in game.

Fortunately, starting Day 5, this lunacy was checked;
many boots out of game, server busy disconnects.

ONE Bamboo Broom, won't be used for delivery,
Only 5 points for searching 5 days at a tree.

I'll use Landmark Ribbon, sailing right past Genoa,
In fact, I'll sail through the Strait, right on Over

To Mother Lisbon, I'll run to the Doorkeep,
and before I lay my weary head down to sleep.

I'll give ONE Bamboo Broom, to Circumnav Dress Manequin,
As a reminder to me, that I'll never again

Search for a Bamboo Broom, on the game called U-Woe
as my friends like to call it.  Why?  You ought to know.

Why are things made so hard?  Anyway, I am done.
I'll go do things rewarding, with lots more of fun.

I love your poems  Cocoa lol !

As far as Bamboo Brooms...I HATE that contrib item its painstaking but  the higher your search skill the more likely your are to find them like REALLY high  upwards of rank 15-20 high.  Me at rank 4  I would find maybe 1 in a 4 hour session I basically gave up.  While the lead adventurer in the company with sky high search found 3-4  in about 2 hours and his alt an additional 4 brooms this is Very good.

I went the Capitalist way  and bartered with another company to supply our Brooms and I essentially offered Salted Piracuru and some auction services for the Brooms  as my fishing was rank 20 and I had cat breeding and a near limitless supply of fine tribs those I could get with ease.

Aide fleet pretty much mad all this unnecessary as you can just send an aide out to fulfill your contrib duty....But I guess if you still want to do contribs you could barter for them or buff your search skill or since you have history doing auctions with me you could do those as well as compensation people trust you because your're VERY anti theft/ piracy lol

(Hugs CPC, and does a pre-emptive strike and hugs PurplePirate before getting "hugged" in unsafe waters; because Cocoa will never give Tributes . . .)

Anyway, that was the least of my Frustrations:  I was doing that in the background all those days.  I was reinstalling ALL my programs for the SECOND time after Installing my first SSD and switching from Win 7 to Win 10. (Win 7 support ends in January 2020) Triple Booty . . . booting Win 10, Win 7, Linux Mint.  I had Cortana hogtied and all spyware keeled.  I tried to switch from RAID to ACHI for the SSD and could not Boot afterwards.  Finally, with flash drives, CDs, and laptop, I booted the desktop.  Re-installed, Could access but not boot Win 7.  So I fooled around with EasyBCD and messed it up worse than before.  It finally did a Hard Reset.  I was ready to re-install Windows.

But, I will never again get to R20 Anything, because I refuse to grind on any game.  I play U-Woe casually now.  I play games for fun.  I would LOVE to take my Bounty Hunter Alt Toon out with Darin's, and get deck-swabbed, but I can't get that 2nd real Company Member / Straw Director to Play.  Darin better hope that M.C. Puff doesn't write a rhyme about him!

Good to hear from yawl, and how is Lil' CPC doing?  I don't know if you had a boy or girl, or the name.

UPDATE:  wait . . . Aide Fleet makes all that unnecessary???  I have no clue about most of the stuff in this game.  How do I "send an Aide out"???  (Bet you need to have 5 Aides with R20 Search and Alchemy and R4 Quarters)

    @CocoaPuffBunny does
a pre-emptive strike and hugs PurplePirate before getting "hugged" in
unsafe waters; because Cocoa will never give Tributes . . .

Lol, well you don't have to worry about that. I've never played as a pirate either on Maris or Gama, I'm a BH so i'm blue. I only took the account name purplepirate since it sounded cute and i love the color purple :)

Oh and. Some of the items you needed are actually easier to find than make...

White smoke bombs don't need alchemy, you jusy need to go to naples archive and farm the archeology map 'lost settlement'. It'll take you outside Athens and you get 5 per map (as well as some other goodies). It's a low ranking map so the generate frequently in the archive.

Improved rope drops in Bordeaux dungeon, but i don't know how you feel about dungeon grinding..

I never had any problem collecting brooms - and I always went to the animal bones too.

After the reset in 2017 I once had enough to start a pop-up broom shop in Helder, selling them cheaply. There were so many people grinding sewing back then. And you can probably guess what happened - some enterprising creep bought them all, and probably took them to Seville and sold them at 10x the price.

My son Roman is doing just fine keeping me up all night, sucking the life outta me and poopin all over the place lol.  But hes SO CUTE like omg insane cuteness overload! So it makes up for it when he smiles at me :D lol

As far as doing contribs man thats the SUCKER'S way. Gone are the days of working together as a team for the company's good to deposit contribs, gone are the days of crafting and selling all the different contrib items like pop trees salted piracuru and justacorps that people sold to make a living. NO LONGER now all you do is go to the company admin and click aide fleet that will send your unused aide away for a month that will automatically give you your contrib for the month and some items!

Somehow the devs thought this feature that NOBODY asked for that even more makes crafting useless is just what the game needed. The feature we all have been asking for, for over 10 years a simple check mark next to whomever contribed for the month with the number I guess simply was too illogical and difficult to implement but a brand new feature like aide fleet was somehow easier to implement and made more aense

Some still do contrib but it much easier and quicker to simply aide fleet.  Devs need to do better

Company contributions are so much easier now. I can max them out for the whole company in a few hours. Everything is getting easier seems like.

@WesDoobner Everything is getting easier seems like.

I know people that played WoW, and they said that over the years the game got ruined because of all the changes in game that made it to easy now and that many people left the game over the years because WoW lost it's appeal. Recently Blizzard announced that they are re-releasing WoW in it's original form to bring players back. I would love to see UWO as it was originally but we don't have the player base anymore to make that a reality. I agree with CPC that they should do something to the game to bring back the importance of crafting again.

there's still plenty to do - im about to go work on casting with one of my alts so I can make hyper cannons. The game changes and that's the problem. The game is still fun with lots to do, but some of those things have changed to different things, and people can't deal.
May the winds blow you well

Again its not about not wanting to adapt its the dumbing down of the game to make it less appealing.  The crafters appeal was the intense variety of things you can make being linited to just a few things.  I love that they add new items to craft I hate that the old items no longer have a place and no longer get made.

Seville should look like Walmart with tons of options of things that are useful from hundreds of crafters. Not mostly cash items and a handful of crafted items.

Imo everything crafted should have at least some use or purpose whether it boost aide sailing day bonus, a pre requisite to make a new item, needed to build ship parts, used to be given for quests  or that increases the game fun value and add incentive to craft

A hyper cannon makes all other cannons obsolete and no need to make...I think those other cannons should be required to make these cannons

  • purplepiratepurplepirate Posts: 994Member Intermediate
@CPC "hyper cannons. I think those other cannons should be required to make these cannons"

They are.you need to make regular versions of the guns first to use as a base mat for hypers. 10 packs for hyper 16's and 12 packs for hyper 18's. But making regular 18 packs at Manchester now is kinda pointless.

What I meant by the other cannons is like from other books like the 16 gate cannon book that you have to craft cannons to do the memorial album by making the superior 14 cannons...remember that quest that got replaced by 18 gate cannon.

Once you add hyper 18 all the other cannons before it 16, 14, 12 etc become pointless  like why even do the quest? Why even get those books.

What I mean for hyper cannon recipe it should require cannons from those other books that way the other books dont become obsolete and leaves incentive

    Ex.

    Hyper cannon recipe need

    6x cannon 6, 5x cannon 12, 4x cannon 14, 3x cannon 16...  To make 1 hyper cannon

See when you do it that way other books dont become irrelevant the 16 book quest is still viable, people can make a living selling from different books rather than just 1... I guess i just would like to not see recipes become irrelevant :(

Am I getting too old? <tears>

I think Wes is correct - at least I think it describes me. I can't deal with this constant hyper-evolution of everything in the game.

It changes too quickly and I haven't got time to keep up with it all.

I come to this game to relax for an hour or two. I can't be arsed to join the rat race, when it's the rat race I'm escaping from in RL lol !!!

HYPER cannons! What next? I like making RF18s - so I've started a new maritime toon just so I can make guns for him.

I know what I like and I like what I know. I feel like I'm playing in the Age of Sail and the game is rushing towards the 20 Century.

Funny thing about that. UWO has SO much to do still in it that even with diminished crafting there's still tons of things to do. Maris has been open now for just short of 2 years now (20 months) and there's important things that i still haven't done yet. I've logged in religiously everyday since the server started and yet...

-I've still have dozens of cities not discovered around asia and the pacific including the new ones added with the expansions.
-Although i have EA open, I still haven't bribed any of the ports to be able to do any nanban trade.
-I still don't have San Fransico discovered or any of the other West NA cities open (i've actually never seen any of those cities since OGP closed before i opened there as well lol).
-i have the ability to SB at r20 but have never learned or actually built or modded a ship before and still need to learn all about it.
-I originally joined UWO for adventure but i only have 300 discoveries so far since i've been focusing on maritime so much lol

the list goes on but you see that there's always something in the game for those that want it :)

Well, my luck changed and I got 16 Bamboo brooms, which I turned in as my Contributions.  U-Woe is one of the few games I can play with my crippled dog-paw hands;  Upright mouse to push, Jumbo taped down mouse to chop and click.  (So I suck at Battle)  I beg to differ: everything in this game is getting harder for me.  I only have 2 Aides, and I choose them for their skills.  I do not want an Aide to go away for a month.  Guess I will continue to be a Sucker. I have thousands of Populin Trees, MCT, Vintage Covenant, stacked and waiting.   There are many things I have never done, don't understand, and will never do:  Modding, Fusion, Alchemy, Treasure Hunts, Displaying, Epic Sea Food, Battle Campagn, Investment Wars, Cultural Contributions and Trends, and many more things.  I did Nanban a few times before The Wipe, didn't like it.  I have no Nanban Ports open now.  I can do any Dungeon, thanks to CPC teaching me the way of the Rifle and Bow, but I don't care for that either.  Thanks to Pepper, Nutmeg, and Mace, I stay at around 5 Billion Ducats, which may as well be $5 now-a-days.  I kept 5 Billion Ducats because I am Cheap, and my friend gave me many outdated ex-good ships.  I cannot believe the price of things.  I would never make someone else wealthy by paying a million for ONE PO4.  I load my ship up with local spices and sail around locally doing Merchant PO4 quests.  I'm not giving up 10 million per Nutmeg run.  Well, more Power to Yawl.  Love you all and take care.

[I decided to Dive into the Steaming Pile of Aide Fleet 'Activity" by transcribing the entire process with my dog paw fingers, to no longer suffer the Slings and arrows of Sucker Deliveries, but to understand the Easy, Dumbed Down Method.  If it's Dumb, it's for Meeeee]

    What is Aide Fleet?

An Aide is a Fleet organized by a Company.  It will be sent
to different parts of the world to make contributions for the
purpose of strengthening the connections with other regions.
As a result you may enjoy some unique benefits from each
region and may gain honor.  Actual members of an Aide Fleet,
who will be dispatched and engaged in activities, are Aides
    of the Company members.

[hmmmm, okaaay, sounds good so far.  Then again, Canals
sounded good at first;  sailing your own ship through them
     fully loaded.]

The whole process of the Aide Fleet consists of 4 periods:
"Waiting, 'Participation Notice,''Aide Dispatch.' and 'Activities.'

[damn, yep, there's the BS Meter, pegged again.  NOTHING
simple and logical in this game]

What is the Participation Notice Period?

It's a period when a Company can decide whether or not they
will dispatch. their Aides for an Aide Fleet.  This period starts
at 8PM on the first day of each month. (Server Time)
If you wish to participate, a Company Director or a Company
Deputy Director needs to submit a notice at a Company
Administration Office.  If a notice is not submitted during this
period, your Company will not be able to dispatch your Aides.

[should have known you couldn't just click and send your
Aide out on the 15th.  Wonder how notices are submitted, and
how many company member's Aides? When does it END?]

What is the Aide Dispatch period?

It's a period when Company members dispatch their Aides to
form an Aide Fleet.  The Aide Fleet's Ability will be determined
by the number of Aides and their individual abilites.
This period starts at 8PM on the 8th of each month and ends on
the 14th of each month (Server Time)

    [ o.o ]
    [ ummm . . . . Aide Fleet Abilities?  To do what? ‎Individual
Abilities?  Aide?  What Abilities???  Participation Notice from
1st to 8th???  Dammit, BS Meter broke]

You can ony dispatch Aides who are standing by in your Quarters.
and not currently engaged in Aide Production or Aide Bazaar.  The
number of Aides a Company member can dispatch at a time is 1,
so you need to have at least one Aide who is available to be
    dispatched.

[yep, 3 Aides minimum, 1 Good for Nothing]

    What is the Activities Period?

It's a period when an Aide Fleet is actually engaged in various
activities in a specific region.  This period starts at 8PM on the
14th each month and ends at 8PM on the 1st day of the following
month.  (Server Time)  Your Aide Fleet Initiates its own activities
at 8PM every day during this period.  As a result, Regional
    Contribution points will be accumulated.
Also, if Competition is allowed, your Fleet may engage in
competition with other Companies dispatched into the same region
over the quality of Contribution.  If your Fleet wins, you will be able
to obtain the Regional Contribution points from the opponent Company, which makes it possible to gain more Regiona Contribution points overall than just by doing regular Activities.  The results of a daily Activ [< ???]

the Klingons, who are catered to and as usual make the rules;  everything is Battle-related, to appease them.  Communications seems to have suddenly and mysteriously stopped . . .]

What happens When an Aide returns?

Your Aide Fleet wil end their Activities at 8PM on the first day of the following month (Server Time) and be ready to return.  You can return your Aide under 'Aide Fleet'.  When you return your Aide, based on the Regional Contribution points gained during the Activities period, your Aide can level up and gain Fame, and you may even receive rewards.  Also, if more than a certain amount of Regional Contribution points have been accumulated, unique Production related to ther region the Fleet was dispatched to will be availabe to perform until the next Aide Dispatch period starts, Please be aware that if you don't return your Aide under 'Aide Fleet' before the next Aide Dispatch period starts, the reward may decrease.

naughty in my sight, shall snuf it.]

    What is the Activity Policy?

Activity Policy decides your Aide Fleet's course of action during the period of Activities.  If "Stable" is selected, they will mainly engage in mid-difficulty Activities.  If "Risk-taling" is selected, they will mainy engage in high-difficulty Activities.  Competition Policy decides whether or not your Aide Fleet is open to competitions with other companies.  These Policies can only be changed during the period of Aide Dispatch.

[Captain's Log, Supplemental.  I regret letting that Ferengi talk me into this risk-taking Life Insurance Policy.  The premiums are higher and the fine-print is smaller. I should have selected 'stable'. The Frengi also decide whether I can change insurance companies, which is during a certain mysterious enrollment period.  I should have gone with Vulcan Live Long and Prosper Insurance]

    Influence on Company's Contribution

While your Aide is active in the Aide Fleet, your company will automatically receive 20 Contribution points at 12PM on the 15th of the month and your Remaining Number of Deliveries will be 0.  Also, at the time of Aide Fleet's return, the Contribution points of the Company wil increase based on Regional Contribution points the Aide Fleet gained during its Activities.

[Easier to understand instuctions for a Holy Hand Grenade:

First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin.

Then, shalt thou count to three, no more,
                   no less.

Three shalt be the number thou shalt
count, and the number of the counting
                  shalt be three.

                  Four shalt thou not count,
nor either count thou two, excepting that
                  thou then proceed to three.

                  Five is right out.

                  Once the number three,
being the third number, be reached, then
lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of
Antioch towards thy foe, who being
naughty in my sight, shall snuf it.]

[wow, Oh joy, 20 WHOLE points, per Aide . . . Active Aide .
     . . regular Aide who eats Activia Yogurt. . . in the Delta Quadrant . . .]

    Return to Beginning

    [Oh. HELLZ NO]

    No questions.

[No, yes, many questions, no answers that are simple and make sense]

[Captain's Log:  Final Thoughts . . . As I stand here at The Mogul, buying Tribute Goods for Klingons to make Starfleet Deliveries, the Sucker Way, I cannot help but wonder why I don't do it the 'Easy Way'.  Q said it was easy.  Guinan disagrees, Spock said it was illogical, Data can't process it.  It sounds like it was written by a Corporate Lawyer . . . heeey . . . that's it . . . what was that Lawyer's name, the one that still reads obsolete books?  He could explain it maybe.  Maybe?]

    1. You dont need 3 aides to send one to aide fleet - is enough.

    2. 20 is the minimum contrib point you get - you can get more,

    3. IF dayly activity is a sucess you get a nice chest tha often yields MTT.
