Cannot Connect to Server

I was recently logged in and both accounts were disconnected.
I attempted to reconnect to the server but upon logging in it states "Cannot Connect To Server"
Then takes me back to login.
Anyone else affected by this today?

Also ive been told that its more beneficial to create a new account rather than to play on my old account and continue my lvl 158 AK ,some one told me that old characters during the acclaim./gamehi days dont get event rewards or something ? can anyone enlighten me if this true? ( really dont want to make a new AK would love to play on my old one)
