How much time does it take for you to travel one way from your capital to Calicut ?
For example, For me it's 1hr 15mins from Seville to Calicut.

Want to check how slow I am and what is the scope of improvement. Thanks!

    I am Turk/Ottoman
    Istanbul to Cairo, 5 minutes?
    Cairo thru suez, 0
Suez Camel to Basra 0 (2 tow tickets)
    Basra to Calicut 8 minutes?

if i use a booster, im guessing 10-11 minutes.

I am assuming that you are going around Africa.

You're probably a new player judging by the amount of time it takes or you are in a beginning to mid-game ship. I remember it taking that amount of time when I had started.

As you get nearer to end-game ships that are trade or adventure oriented or maritime-related rowships, the base speed will be faster. However, this won't be enough to get to the speeds that you see many players at. Many players have all of a combo of the following that increase ship speed (for the toon that is the lead ship if you are using more than one toon):

    - the 50% speed booster (a cash item but can be bought in-game for ducats)
    - having ship grading option ship speedup 1 (at G1) ship speedup 2 (at G3) and ship speedup 3 (at G6)
    - having the appropriate Oxford skills enabled that increase your speed
    - equipping the best studding sails possible (I think these are the 34/34 variety now)
    - equipping the cash spankers (I think the +22 is a cash item)
    - equipping plates that slow down your driver ship will not help

There are situational factors as well. If you are using a rowship, you will need to get refined rowing up to max. Also, you will need to get your wave resistance stat to max on your ship to ease the cargo hold penalty. Said another way, the more cargo you are carrying the slower your ship will be, but the higher your wave resistance stat, the less that penalty will be.

Understanding how the winds affect your ship speed also plays a role, and knowing the best routes to take.

The toon I use to drive my toons (Nasrin) has a G3 Maltese galley, max refined rowing, three of the four Oxfords on, Ship Speedup 1 and 2, and the 50% booster. One of the two studding sails for the ship is a 34/34 and one of the spankers is the +22. If I go around Africa direct (not following the coast especially around the western side) with my other two toons (so we have the MG, Milvio's battleship, and four clermonts [clermonts slow fleet speed by 5% per Clermont]) I could do it in about 30-40 minutes more or less. Keep in mind that if I had a G6 with the best sails equipped I could get there even faster, and the MG non-cash version I am using is also not the fastest ship possible. Without clermonts, faster still.

I have seen some fleets go much faster than mine; this is because they are maxing all of the above stats.

Nasrin also has a Redesigned Savanna, but can really only be used when her former home nation (England, since she is now Ottoman) is in Industrial Status. She also has the Steam Engineer title and burns 1 coal per minute. At a cost of 100,000 ducats per coal this gets expensive, and is really only used for Nanban runs. But given the same circumstances as above she can do it in 30 minutes tops. Someone in-game told me that in his Savanna he can go from East Asia to Europe in 32 minutes. Not sure what his circumstances were though. I have done (unofficial) tests by using both Emergency Acceleration and Steam Engine on the Savannas and haven't noticed an appreciable difference by using both. If there's an increase it would appear to be marginal.

    Hope this helps.

Just to add on to my earlier post, I don't usually start in Seville, but usually either Marseilles or somewhere in Northern Europe. So I would probably get to Calicut a bit faster if starting in Seville.

Just a few other tests (full cargo):

In the Red Sav, Lima to Hiva Oa was 9 minutes, and Hiva Oa to Hawaii was 4 minutes. The winds and current play a big part here.

Cape Town to Lisbon was just over 10 minutes, I think. Again, winds and current are important.

The time it will take is dependent on three things

    1. How much game experience you have ie. quick ways to use canal, currents, winds, navigating, trip preparation, mods and game mechanics

    2. How much money you have...  to buy cash ships, grades, sails, plates and speed boosts

    3. How much Time you invested into the game... Like grinding skills to be faster like sail handling, rowing, management etc.

As you get more experienced and more wealthy it will get MUCH quicker.  When I first started the game I had to be towed to Calicut from England by Shiloh of  company at the time New Horizons Inc.  Then my first trip took 3 hours got lost went the wrong direction got caught in a storm crew died of hunger etc. Everything went wrong lol

Before the switch to OGP I was in the game about 7 yrs. in my RLS I was making the trip in 20- 25mins no boosts. It was very expensive but whatever.

Basically keep at it learn the game stack your cash and the trip will be shorter and shorter each time good luck.

30+ minutes from Genoa and around Africa Cape.    Mod Dragon C2:  612 vert, 440 hor,  26 turn, 34 wave, 33 armour, EA, speed  up 1 & 2.  That ship is a joke now, since any pirate with a typical 90 billion ducat rowing galley can run circles around me.  I am also lugging around a Clermont, and I sail extra deep to avoid pirates.  I dropped out of the Rat Race after the Great Wipe;  I can't grind and slap the space bar 24/7.   I keep 6 bil‎lion Ducats and I'm Level 37/60/24.  I only log in for occasional nutmeg, mace, pepper runs, and farms, and deliveries the old-fashioned sucker way.  I am max  handicraft, Pebbles is max casting, and i have thousands of delivery items stacked.  So Merry Christmas and more ducats and speed to you, and all the things that are not in my game.

evening flights out of CLT are rarely ever difficult. While I don't
recommend it, we have arrived half hour before flight was supposed to
leave and made it to the gate with time to spare. you should be fine by
    430. protip for flights out of CLT: there's a bbq place in the food
court area where all the terminals come together. the bbq is fine, but
they sell 16oz cans of noda beer unopened. grab a couple of hop drop and
rolls and toss in your backpack so you can enjoy good beer on the
    plane. safe travels

Thank You, but 2019 was absolutely horrible, and 2020 looks like it will be even worse.  In 2019 due to my severe neuropathy, I could no longer ride my motor-scooter, or drive my truck, or get on the riding mower.  Feet are paralyzed and hands are claw-like with no grip or feelings.  When I fell, they would send a fire truck with firemen to pick me up, no charge.  Now they send an ambulance and charge $500.  I did lose 40 pounds on a ketogenic low-carb, high fat diet, with intermittant fasting.; I'm trying to reverse my insulin-resistant diabetes and get off of insulin.  December 26, I noticed my sock was wet.  I took my sock off and the entire heel looked like bloody raw meat;  I had rubbed a huge blister on my heel from my office chair and didn't know it.  While preparing to go to the hospital, I fell.  Ambulance came, picked me up, transported to the hospital.  I was in the hospital from Dec. 26 to Dec. 31.  I was getting home care, but my doctor never responded to my calls, the hospital, and the pharmacist, so the help ended.  Been bedridden since new years, yesterday the 14th I finally got in my wheelchair and to my den/ desktop PC.  Visit my new doctor tomorrow.

Oh well, enough Pity Party, I cannot eat the cake and ice-cream anyway  :D
I'm on a laptop that makes UWO cumbersome to play, so if I get attacked I will just log out.  Love you, CPC . . . have a better year than I.

Usually less than 30 minutes for me. It would take 45 minutes to one hour if you use school ship or lack of top speed ship.

    Boat or
    plane?
This was the question when I wanted to travel from Aruba to Calicut. Of course, I know you should cross The Atlantic and Indian Ocean to get there by boat, but why not?? It will take approximately 1 month just for Atlantic and 3 weeks for Indian Ocean. It is so exciting! Please, do not say to me to stay in Aruba! Aruba is cool, but why not to get out from my comfort zone and visit a new and different country. Probably there are many crazy people like me and want to get to Aruba by boat. It is pretty simple, but it is a lot to write.
