Windows error - can't load game

Bug Report
I am getting the 'Fatal windows error' problem, and can't start the game, So far, I have installed it from Steam, got the problem, rebooted my machine, checked my Norton report and found that GAMEMON.DES was blocked for unauthorised access, confirmed that it is allowed access by Norton, uninstalled it, installed it from the website, tried again and got exactly the same problem, hunted for answers and found that this problem has been known for over 3 years (according to a forum post from 2017), and given up. 

I like the look of the game, but it has defeated me - are there any other fixes? Apart from uninstalling my antivirus.

    Sorted it! It needed to be run with Vista Compatibility and run as administrator (in the properties of the exe file).
