To prevent destruction of certain companies is less a good argument to me. They should indeed run on a real unique player database or else more fusions should be made!
I have spent and will spend more money on the game if we are able to keep our toons as they are now. If this does not happen, I am gone. There is now way I am going through all the grinding again.
IGN RUSH, I think 3 toons per account per person is enough.
I only play one account, one char.
I think multiple accounts hurt the game, leave the game open to corruption, depending on the person playing the accounts.
Remember the Pirates Charms Boxes. They were compensation for server problems, people with multiple accounts scored those and sold them to others for profit
SO no one can say that multiple account do not hurt this game.
How about trolls and their many accounts.
That really adds to the game play eh.
Look at the problems now with people with multiple accounts, having to organize and move all stuff to the new server. Not just a problem for the player but extra work for the Host too.
IT be interesting to see what people could do with one char.
I do agree that more storage per char would be a plus and some thing that never been addressed.
IGN RUSH
Right now, aside from the glaring point of ship inventory, there is just such a vast amount of gear in game and so little storage. You think it would be nice to take away a ton of my prized and hard earned +1 gear and hinder my adventuring, trading, and battle abilities? Not like I will even be able to do all the things I enjoy anymore because I will be playing just one crippled toon or a toon that is so specialized in one profession he can't do the other two. And not to mention all that +1 gear lets me grind my skills more effectively. So you want to add more time grinding to an already relentlessly grindy game. This all sounds great, where do I sign up?
Have you ever tried making a g3 or above mat ship? I'm guessing you
haven't. And sure, one of my company mates (or two or three) would just
love spending their time standing around passing mat ships back and
forth for hours on end. That's great fun. I've actually helped friends
who didn't have two PC's with fusion, and also had a friend help me
when my ship inventory was jammed up with other project ships. But that
is not really how anyone prefers to spend their game time. And what if
every ship builder in the game had to rope a few others into holding
mat ships every single time they wanted to do fusion? Brilliant! Because keep in
mind, in your scenario storage alts are gone so everyone's ship
inventory is quite full.
You must really have nothing but time on your hands to do nothing but play UWO in a very slow and ineffective and not fun way. And also really love to inconvenience other people who have to work for a living, have families that require attention, have school work to attend to (or all of the above), and value the game time they can get. I didn't get to play yesterday because I had to work and was also busy with home maintenance. I have more work to do today and need to spend time with my fiance. And what little time I have left over to play my beloved UWO I'm supposed to stand around passing ships back and forth? Or spend my time shouting for days on end to find someone who happens to play on my schedule and with just the right skills and the willingness to sacrifice their own limited time to hold my hand though an entire quest chain because my adventure alt is gone and I can't fit more than 2 or 3 adventure skills on my battle toon?! That's hard enough to do now with people allowed to have dedicated adventure toons! Imagine trying to do that in your world where half those adventure toons are gone, replaced with crippled jack-of-all trade type toons. And if it is a battle toon I choose as my one character, now I can't make any money in game either as my crafter with refined casting, refined handi, maxed storage and cooking, and all the support skills for those crafts is gone. And if I decide to Nanban my profits are cut in half because my adventurer and crafter can't go together.
And how would this be interesting to see what we could accomplish with only one character? I will tell you right now. Way less that we can accomplish now and everything would take way, way longer. Some of us would actually be able to make ducats in game in a fast and efficient way to finance all the vigor food, parts we destroy, LCCTs, MSTs, and MTTs we go through doing battle. And finance getting nicer ships, have a few ducats to throw around out on our adventures, and have a few ducats for some new swanky looking gear to layer on from time to time. Some of us also like to be able to actually do battle AND adventure AND craft and trade. Oh and being able to have a ship or two I'm in the process of building and being able to do fusion at all... that's kind of nice too.
Keep in mind as well I am not rich in game by any stretch of the imagination. In the almost 5 years I have been playing I don't think I've ever had more than 5 billion at once on all my 3 playable toons and few storage alts put together. And that quickly went down the fusion hole or on DSails. My best and most expensive ships are a g3 MRF and a nicely modded LMS. I Nanban occasionally with 2 toons and don't make much. I do my crafting which is a steady flow of ducats but not a windfall. I use LCCT's and vigor food (which I now make myself), MST's, and MTT's like they are toilet paper grinding maritime and running dungeons. Maritime is a money sink and running 90% of the dungeons in game is not profitable at all but i like completing my memorial albums and collecting the rare gear that drops. Keep in mind nobody really cares about that rare gear any more so if I get extra it is not profitable.
This no multi idea would only work for someone content to do nothing but adventure or nothing but craft/trade or have a limited experience of a little bit of both. What fun. Maritimers would be forced to sell cash shop items for the ducats to finance their battling or sacrifice battle skills for crafting and trade skills in which case they would be crippled in battle against anyone who could afford to do nothing but sell cash shop items for financing. That's a broken pay to win system that people not paying to win will not stick around long for.
But the economy is the way it is because it cost a lot of real money to get those ships out of those bottles and the parts are expensive to buy from the shop as well. Not to mention the cost of fusion and how many times you have to hand over mat ships to make more mat ships to get to G5.
I don't know what the answer to that really should be, but it's unfair to say it is because of a 3 toon situation. The abuse is when you have people start using 5 toons with 2 computers and 2 internet providers. But then again, how can we know who is behind those toons. Some were accused of being multis when they really were not. This is very common in all MMO's. At least 3 toon max is a middle ground to get things done for some players.
Any free to play game is great... I agree, but the server and staff don't pluck their pay from trees! :D
It's the players that spend money that keeps the game going for all. That's just business.
I have noticed that most of the time, folks just seem to assign high values to money shop items/ships depending on their rarity, and then trade them as currency, meaning little to no trade good selling is required for the most part. Not to mention in-game money checks of high value were actually dropped in past money shop packages, too. No multis involved there! Just a case of somebody spending real life cash and getting in-game currency back in exchange. Since people who did that were supporting the game, though, I didn't mind at all.
But aleware does raise an interesting point. Is the game supposed to be played with 3 accounts per player at the same time? Let's look at how they play UWO in Japan, via this handy YouTube link!
... two, three, hey, that's three characters on three separate accounts, being played at the same time! Go figure. Bottomline: multis are not a problem, and the people saying that they are happen to be a vocal minority who mainly enjoy antagonizing their fellow players. Comparatively, the most wisest, most successful game players I have seen, use their multis to make the game a more enjoyable place for everyone to play, and are usually the ones who devote their time and energy to writing player help guides, teaching new players in the game, and keeping watch for potential troublemakers, bugs/glitches, or gold scam sellers.
Thanks for your consideration. Looking forward to the future with you, Papaya Play! Me, and my alt characters, that is. :)
