players that would be migrating are veteran players... a wipeout would mean losing most these players...
Would rather the game just came to a dignified end than have it limp on full of empty seas and ghost towns...which is exactly what is going to happen when all the paying customers and experienced players leave. Going to be sad seeing school chat full of people who can't get a straight answer on where to find skill books or how to get their regional permits...

What is done is done.. Crying about it isn't going to make any difference now.. Vertigo has been in business for years and knows what they're doing. Sure, everyone here has spent a lot of time and money in this game, in past years. You got your moneys worth sailing around in high end ships, in fancy equipment with red/blue orbs around you, and blowing past us all with your 50% speed boosts. This wipe is what truly is best for UWO to grow the player base in the long run, and that what its all about. It isn't about satisfying a few old remaining vets/top 1% whom controlled Gama, and are more active in World Chat, Forums, and Seville, than actually sailing. If you truly love UWO, you would want this to happen, and quite frankly, it should've happened years ago. All the players complaining just like being "the big fish in a small pond" and only care about themselves. Now there will be "much more fish in a much bigger body of water". The old server was an ever diminishing player base, totally dominated by the top 1%. It was impossible for a new player to "catch up" without years of grinding, and most were unwilling and to discouraged to try.
From Papaya/Vertigo perspective, this was a no brainer. Vertigo has a 13 million+ person player base. They will replace all you "quitters" very easily. They will make so much money off of an influx of new players/ rejuvenated vets buying boosters to grind, and chasing new ships/items in "treasure chests/bottles" to get ahead. Also, they get to fix all the miserable fails of Netmarble and OGPathetic. This game will be a gold mine for Vertigo/Papaya, for years to come. All you players saying you are quitting are just being dramatic. I guarantee I will see most/all of you "quitters" in 2 weeks, in your school uniforms, and sailing in your barcas around EU xD
This is truly a new life and a clean slate for UWO, and you all should quit whining and save some energy for grinding your skills and unlocking Port Permits. Stop posting all your player suicide notes here. Start posting and discussing how you are going to "survive" financially in this new era. That $50k you start off with, has to go a long ways nowadays. I cant wait to see everyone in Cutters and Schooners, outside of Syracuse Dungeon, for months to come! Start posting informative and educational posts and recruiting new players... The New Era of Uwo, starts today.. Youll feel better in a 2 weeks when u login and see new players everywhere and a rejuvenated, active population... Stop scaring away all the new players with these 5+ similar Apocalypse topic posts and all our old era drama.
Lastly, if there is anyone you should be mad at it is OGPitiful. They put all these high end items, gear, forging items, etc in the game the past few month, knowing they were negotiating a sale behind the scenes. You all spent a lot of money chasing "the most popular ships" and got screwed. How is that SNG or TGF working for you now?
Thank you Papaya/Vertigo, for bailing out our game! It was needed so badly and you took the right and necessary actions. Please learn from Netmarble and OGPoor's mistakes!
After being "inactive" for a few years, I look forward to returning to UWO, and from what I hear from others, there are quite a few other "retired players" who have been patiently waiting years for this to happen as well. The "revamp of Plunder, Deck Frequency, and other game imbalances", is just icing on the cake.
I hope to see EVERYONE on 10/18!! Until then, get some rest, your going to need it for the grind :P
That level of help will not be there! next how can you keep where we are at in the progression of the game if no players have no levels, no money, no ships. basically you want us to keep going on your timeline, yet everything to get to those quest will have to be re done, and those do not happen over night, I was level 74 adv. that took about 1 1/2 years of hard grinding, (i tried to keep from burning out, and would also level mar, and trade. i spent 3 years straight playing this game while I was going through my surgeries from gettng injured at work. I do not have that time now, nor the patince or money ($75-200 a month for almost all of those 3 years (once I learned about extra storage space)) will I spend that again, no! will i spend anything again? maybe, once I gain trust that another server wipe isn't a week away. I play 7 days to die right now, every 6 months or so we have to restart, we who play this know it, but we also know that we will never spend money on it either (other than a ded. server)
last we have built friends and families through this game, and some are close by, some are half a world away. some i have numbers and email, and FB! others I didn't, why is this important, because I might never be able to find some of them again, we might never be able to know how their families who we have chatted with while they where on a bathroom run, or store run while we were sailing to EA, or adv, or worst of all gathering supplies for monthly contribs.
I think like most vets, we wish you have just ended the game and let us all say goodbye, and make a great epic world photo. we will see how this goes, but I am not sure if i can go through the grind again
thank you everyone for great memories, fun time's, and a great escape for real life when i was going through a lot of pain.
maybe catch you guys on the new server
IGN: Insncwby
might change it to InsaneCowboy which it is supposed to be, but never wanted to spend $20 to make the change
The Jap server has been doing great using it for the past 8 years, and showing no sign of slowing down. They even got more players each month.
Dont get me wrong here, i would love the game to be not wiped, but if it's a must, you need to consider making it pay-to-play.
You guys are new in the online game hosting business, im not 100% sure u guys can handle this unique game.
There are already two companies given up hosting it, dont make the same mistakes.
