Any exp ship builders who will still play?

IdsadarIdsadar Posts: 140Member Trainee
Hi everyone. I opened this topic because i whould like to know how many exp shipbuilders we will have in the game after relaunch.
From what i know some of the best SB ers quit this game and we all gonna need someone to build our ships when the time comes.
SB ing is not an easy job and requires alot of exp,and i hope we still have some vets here who will keep doing this job.
So let us know who you are and what rank did you have before closing.

In all honesty rank isn't really that important, it's the knowledge that counts.

It's alright, Ma, I'm only bored.

HeavyWater of course the knowlege is more important, because you can t build a speciffic ship,or improve one if you don t know what parts to use, where can be built etc.
But even if you have the knowlege, you need rank too if you want to be able to build a speciffic ship or any improvement.
So..i hope that we still have some exp SB ers around .

Most ships can be built well below Level 20. Indeed most can be built and modded by the time you can build at level 12. The higher levels give you more successful builds and greater range in some stats.
Of course you can only build or mod or grade a ship you can sail.

I don't know much about SB, but I do know you can build, grade, and mod a ship you can't sail because my Company's SB built a Large Survey Clipper for me that he didn't have the adventure levels to sail. That also meant he couldn't refit it.

Well that s why we need exp SB ers because they know how to use uwo tools to build ships that fits your needs.

If a company has a SY3 you get a plus one there. I was a r7 SB and there is so much to learn but I am going to get the skill again and learn all I can

I'm not going to call my self an experienced shipbuilder, but my base rank was up to 15 and I did build a lot of ships, do a lot of fusion and a lot of special shipbuilding (mods). In fact, right before the wipe I was saving my parts for the next ship I wanted to mod and I had some Imperial Roman military panel, 3 moon sails, and improved sailors cabin and shipside tank - all gone! But, to move to the future, I will definitely be returning and I will be grinding my sb skill, whether I'm any good or not you can decide.

I don't recall specifically about a sb+1 at the colony, I never worried about it because 16, 17, 18 with boosters was always good enough for what I was doing. The shipyard 3 at the colony is awesome though, improves fusion success by 20% - if your chance of success is 5%, and you go to a sy3 in your colony it will go up to 25% - won't help if the chance is zero though.

I was pretty darn good at building ships R20 and all that and was making good money too lol I'll be returning but prolly won't dedicate a huge ton of time to it  I'll level and do it when im online which won't be too much I work alot.

Although many SBers may quit like the top ones like caddy and gazi fear not Caddy made the best guide to building ships its how probably 95% of uwo sbers learned how to build ships including myself with the help of www.uwotool.com.  So even if the Legends of SBing quit the skill and technique will never die.

Alot of really ignorant players look down on people who make guides b/c they feel it makes the game too easy but you need guides EXACTLY for moments like this...server wipe or provider closure to keep the knowledge alive and available.

A player making a guide is the greatest gift they can give to the community thank you caddy for the SBing guide and all the other guide writers

Not sure, but i think Gazi is coming back, and hopefully caddy will return.  I will be grinding SB on my alt, prolly non-stop til i hit the r15 mark.  I'm very good at making plans for mods. I promise we don't need to worry about that, having an SB around i don't think will be a problem.

Well thats great. Did anyone announced Caddy about the reset? Maybe he will come back..
I left him a message on his site but i don t know if he see him.
  • pieratthepieratthe Posts: 419Member Intermediate
i sent him a message with a link showing Capt.Tuggles selling ducats for real money on a website, and he hasn't responded to that.  Nor have i seen posts from caddy in several days.  I know Gazi posted on FB about redoing his comp OA.   but yea tuggles was selling ducats 11$ for 1b.  So lame.

I wasn't the best SB (no 7 nations goodness) but I reached R20 about six months before the game shut down.  It was not a fun grind, but I was satisfied to see it through.  Whether or not I invest myself to that grind again all depends on how Papaya treats the game and player base going forward.  I'll probably wait and see while doing school, national storylines, etc.

    "

    What changes are being
    made?

The UWO Team will be using the relaunch
through Papaya Play as an opportunity to revamp many aspects of PvP Battles,
including plundered items and Deck Battle frequency, plus a number of other
system rebalances. Due to the technical nature of the relaunch, however, all
existing player progress and items from OGP will unfortunately be lost
    , and
the game world/economy will undergo a complete reset."

    How many "former" ship
builders do or don't come over to Papaya is the real question.

    But the
answer to your question is, none!

    According to the quote
above from Papaya tells us, every character is going to be stripped down to
    ZERO levels and skills.

So, no one will be a ship builder at the
start-up.  My main character was an r20 Ship Wright, but it will not be
the first thing on my list, to grind back up there.

    Then again, I really
like building ships so, I may get back to it sooner than I currently think.

We all know that everything was reset to 0 that s why i din t ask how many r20 SB ders will return, i asked how many experienced ones.
But it s a good thing we still have some.

I will be picking up SB again. Though I'm waiting to see if we can run a SB alt on steam launcher before i pick up the skill on my main.  When Gama closed its eyes for the last time I was R14+4 and just used the consumable the one time I needed r20. I have decent knowledge of designing and lean towards inheriting skills rather than just using the prepackaged mods so that my boats are customized to the player I'm building for. That being said, It will be awhile before any of my toons have the plunder/seize cargo skills necessary to get HASC needed for any respectable official hull. If I am limited to one toon my first focus of course will be getting my nation built up.

I'm a 20sb and I've built hundreds of ships I couldn't sail ...I could mod and grade them and increase their sp using the arsinal too.  You can't refit a ship you can't actually equip no but if you grouped with someone who can they can refit leeching off you
