Say what you want, I'll be probably be plundering you the next time..
It’s like Groundhog Day this forum.
The same arguments and trash talk each day and guess what....none of us know what is going to happen yet.
No point in worrying about tomorrow, when today has it’s own problems.
Pirating is my recruiting technique. I don't need to get rich off others by plunder, I can make billions faster in game. Sure I would probably kill people a few times, but then I would offer them back their stuff, fleet them, repair them, tow them to port, and offer them a spot in my company.
I just like to plunder. If the player I plundered doesn't call me names after I sink them I usually return their stuff, sometimes I even give them extra cash and items. Usually they are impressed with my speed and what I'm able to accomplish without being a cash player, and they ask to friend me or even join my company.
If I steal valuable things from a bounty hunter or a really experienced nanbanner, I probably won't feel sorry for them..
As for newer players though, I love to help. The last thing I want is for people to rage quit. Piracy is moe fun when lots of people are on the server.
As for the argument that you could just sail in a fleet, well that one got tossed out the window when pirates began being able to 1v5 whole fleets. It would basically force people to grind battle skills to fend off pirates, even if battling is the last thing they want to do and ultimately drives them away.
Item plunder would "force" players? So you think it is good to force players in a certain direction of playstyle? I guess then that you think all those who do not want to be "forced" should just quit the game because that is what they will do.
Most people do not have unlimited time to be online, and many can be forced to stop playing at any time by real life. I have gone on nanban runs which were interrupted at least four times. I have gone on nanban runs while all other company members online were doing other things. Should I just wait until others want to go also? Should I not do want I want to do because of pirates? That would not be a fun game.
The fact is, people will either quit playing because of being pirated or they will accept it and keep playing. There are quite a few MMOs I do not play because having a group is a must. I tried one for a while. I became tired of wasting time trying to join or create a necessary group. I also grew tired of waiting for players who said they would join, but never appeared. Sometimes players would also drop out during a run, leaving the remainder to die.
I hunt the merchants by following the trade routes, they are more predictable. Haven't seen many adventurers out there hunting shipwrecks in odd locations..
I’ll try the unconventional routes to see if I can find you :p
Exactly, players need to just think outside the box and anticipate the threat instead of just threatening to quit.
Thankfully many of you have the right attitude, and I applaud you for speaking out. :)
