the cash players can widen the gap between the have and have nots at a faster pace than ever before since they are not playing catch up against established players. Dont get me wrong, I hope the game succeeds and gets some advertising - lack of marketing and advertising is one thing that hurt this game for years. But it is naive to think this is going to be some utopian environment and not more of a cash driven game than it ever has been before.
we will have 60% retention with maybe half of those willing to spend money on the game from the start.
who is going to teach them (noobs) how to play anyways? The learning curve
of this game is INSANE
OLD players who are going to return and give it a try, since PvP, and piracy mite be fixed.
If it receives 0 marketing when they relaunch it, then it will be
difficult for new players to find the game, or any of the old players to
realize it was relaunched.
If they DO get the word out, then everything
you say in your post will be quite the opposite.
So the future of UWO depends on
% Retention
Making it easier and more rewarding for newbies to enjoy UWO
Something new or improved for everyone to enjoy.
Awareness, Awareness,Awareness.
This last item is not only Papaya's responsibility, but everyone's responsibility
UWO is no longer visible to the gaming community
If you love this game, get the word out to every forum, friend, and gamer you know.
If papaya overpowers cash shop items i spend nothing. (investment bonds in the cash shop is a deal breaker)
I cant help but feel they are going to give it minimal effort and release the same cash items that utterly destroyed the game before, i do hope im wrong and they actualy do a "good job".
Unfortunatly thats unlikely given my experience with other game publishers. The lack of communication and lack of customer support is already apparent, not a great sign for the future. However, i will give the game a chance but i wont be spending any real money until papaya proves itself worthy of my gaming dollars.
Just because i love UWO doesnt mean i throw away all my expectations when it comes to spending money and any goods or service in my life.
reset means that more things to do for me and also chance for better experince since infilation goes to 0 and if they can balance it well maritime will not turn into money sinkhole
Well ofcourse if they change nothing and just say "well have fun after wipe" I will support your rage but if they do considerable changes that proves "wipe was good thing" I will stand aganist you.
I am convinced they have no idea how much time/grind/investment is required to make uwo desirable to old players... so, they'll be depending on new players who also want to spend $
I honestly wish them luck, but it's niche game, and you hurt the old timers who spent $
I will be back, but I don't know for how long. And I still have no intention of giving Papaya any cash, for anything. They haven't earned it.

1. To earn my money, they need to regain my trust, and that may not be possible. Everything that's happened since they bought the game has done nothing but break my heart. It took me 4 years to get to lvl 78 adventure, and find 2450 discoveries, and they took that away.
2-4. I don't like it that pirates can steal my items any more than I enjoyed it when my house was burglarized. The whole "haha I took your stuff and there's nothing you can do to stop me, haha" attitude bothers me. It also bothers me that if anyone dares to complain about it they are subjected to all kinds of abuse in chat and forums. I object that I am expected to use my resources to by them "tributes" to be allowed to play. I resent that they expect me to spend cash to buy the blue flags, then complain if I do. I resent the idea that their gameplay somehow is more important than mine. I resent that if I actually do fight back I go blue and can be farmed into oblivion by pirates. I resent the smug, arrogant superior attitude of a number of people who have posted here. A post called "Why I should be able to steal your stuff" leaps to mind. Why should I be required to wait around for a BH to want to follow me to Jakarta to look for quests, and then pay him for that privilege?
As it stands right now, I have committed to log in on the 18th, restart my company with my boyfriend, and see what happens. He's not feeling very happy about the game right now either. With the level of BS I've seen on these forums about how wonderful it will be when the thieves have their day again I don't know if I'll last a month. In fact, as I write this post I'm finding myself wondering why I'm going back at all.

Buying power becomes more appealing the more competitive the game is. I don't think anyone got to the publisher. I think they're just counting on some simple psychology being applicable, without fully understanding how niche this game and its players are. Hopefully it's still running in a year.
