I played for a while, but got tired of not having anywhere new to explore without paying. I tried going back a year or so ago and my account still existed, but apparently some of the level requirements for gear had changed, so I couldn't actually use any of my weapons.
And this got me curious enough to check, and it looks like I'm still there and have my stuff, which is honestly pretty surprising. I don't really remember how to play, though.
Makes me inquisitive and anxious at the same time to go check some elder games I used to play decades ago such as Flyff, Another game I used to play Achelord went offline, even the Archelord II lived a short life about that I am sure, so everything lost there... However it was a really good looking and entertaining MMORPG.
But to answer your question, no I never played Runescape. Wasn't it more a 2D game in the beginning? 2D games never really got my interest, so I never checked it out when it went 3D
No, but I did give Ultima V and VI a run for their money. Actually, there was no money involved, but fun games nonetheless. Downside was I didn't get to hear a lot of bitching from other players.
Anyone remember Federation of Free Traders? Single-player game - must be 20 years ago. It was space exploration and trading with markets that responded to what you bought and sold.
I worked out how to beat the markets. Sell a lot of trade goods and depress the price. Buy them back at a low price - create a shortage which pushes the price back up. Sell them again, depress the price, buy them back. And so on. I made millions of space-bucks in no time.
It's a pity that goods sold to the market in UWO just disappear into the ether. We could all be billionaires and afford those ships and parts!

It's pretty neat, at least initially. As I said, I got bored eventually, but that happens to me with almost every game.
