The beginning of the end.
However for every situation like that there will be 100x as many abusers. It's a shame you can't count on players to not take advantage.
Unfortunately if they had no limit you would see people with 50 alts in a fleet.
What is the solution? I have no idea. Too bad that so many feel the need to find ways around the rules and cheat.
This is obviously an issue that many feel strongly about. And I do not believe anyone is against a family playing together, most are against the abuse of alts.
I doubt anyone has a problem with a storage alt or alt for skills even. It those that need to have the alts there just for nanban runs (it is no doubt an attempt to abuse the rules).
I hope we cam all someday find the correct solution.

When 5 toons are all naked and are identical in looks and levels with names like: toon1 toon 2 toon3......
They are all sitting next to each other in a bazaar with the same items at the same price.
Does not take a seasoned detective.
This is the type of activity that hurts the genuine players (those families and friends playing together ).
It’s an small inconvenience to genuine users but a massive one to multiboxers that abuse.

Instead a player can leech a producer’s skill to produce special parts as long as the producer is withon the fleet.
This way the only reason to nanban is to get money for things like grading ships, while ships are not tradeable either.
In the end it becomes meaningless to run alts.
As simple as that.
All ESF fleets are always five.
Unless it is one person with all five toons them that is a violation of the rules.
This is a community game which is meant to encourage people to work together and play together, so fleeting together is encouraged.
If more people would embrace that aspect of the game this whole issue would not exist at all. No one would need alts. They could fleet together to leach the skills that they are lacking.
Unfortunately many people feel that they NEED everything by themselves, which spawns this whole debate.
I am sure I will hear the "I need alts for SBing or fusion or storage"
That is not a NEED, it is a WANT. So be honest with yourself about that.
Once again I have graded all my ships to G6 without use of any alts ever. So it can be done.
I can't understand why CPC and others are angry that you can only run 3 toons at one time? Is 3 at once not enough?
As for the claims that people who are 5 fleeted getting banned? I don't know how true it is or if those that did get banned were breaking the rules or not. OJ Simpson claims he was innocent too.
If 3 toons at once (you can have many more toons for all your skill and storage needs just don't login all at once) is not enough for your NEEDS , how many is?
What can one person NEED more than 3 at ONCE? I honestly and seriously don't know, not trying to be an a$$. # should be enough to give you all the skills possible in the game and have enough inventory space to do any production.
Why would anyone need more?
