shipbuilding limits?

I built 20 ships (Barcas) today in beginning shipbuilding, but did not get any exp after the first 11.  Is there a limit on how many ships one can build in a day and get exp for?

    At a point you will need to make bigger ships to get experience.
    Most skills in the game require you to continue to face more challenging opponents or such to receive experience.
