Bruh, land battle is too hard to balance for tournament, so the only rule I think there should be is no "attack Mode' aide skill.  U can check if the character has it on aide by checking him before the battle.  Maybe best 2 out of 3 for early stage, and best 3 out of 5 for later ones

@wsp414 land battle is too hard to balance for tournament

I can somewhat agree with this, but if it's suppose to be a 'tournament' then it's not about balance, it's about who's the best. The same is true for seabattles, just because you have top ship doesn't
guarantee you gonna win every battle, this is where skill comes into
play. Since most competitive maritimer's used forged gear then the balance is already there, it really would come down to skill, techs and lvl's (for stamina). That being said, those who have actually put in the time to get the lvl's and techs then by all rights have an advantage over others that haven't put in the time (someone who's only grabbed a few techs and ranks can't expect to beat a seasoned player who's focused the past 2 years maxing out all land battle that's just foolish arrogance).  This is why a 'tournament' shouldn't be about balance, it should be about who really is the best.

Now I think the best way to approach this would be to have 3 divisions (limited, standard, unlimited), papaya would have to be involved to set restrictions and moderate but it would be easy for them to set restrictions since all in-game items are plunderable, while all uwc items are non-plunerable. But each division would act as follows...

Limited - 100 lvl's total (max lvl 50 in any one class) can only use plunerable gear (non forged).

Standard - Any lvl can be used. May only use plunderable gear (non forged).

Unlimited - Any lvl can be used. Can used any gear (no restrictions).

I agree with the 2/3 for early rounds and 3/5 for later ones set up.

the only rule I think there should be is no "attack Mode' aide skill.  U
can check if the character has it on aide by checking him before the
    battle.

You can used aides for pvp???? when did that happen, i thought the whole aide assist in land battle was only for npc battles? Wasn't everyone laughing at the concept when it first came out to use aides in land battle cause it was kinda pointless vs npcs? If that's the case, i may have to bump my thread about where koei is going with this lol.

One thing i'd love to see in this game would be if Koei could make a land battle version of BC. I think it would be so much fun to have big 10v10 land battles. Some of the funnest battles in ESF is when we all go to deck battle and slug it out with eachother <3

@sam Attack mode is one of the few if not only aide skills that work in pvp land battle. It allows your gauge to be full once the battle begins. I am sure you know how much of an advantage this is.

For the different categories I would agree. Total lvls affect HP and in general you wouls want to separate at least by total lvl and maybe attack strength.

Seems like a good idea.  I think with there being ducats on the line and friendly competition, that you would probably see interest in it, at least for the max level folks.
You would have to set up rules like if there were any gear restrictions and if aides were allowed or not and if any items or whatever were barred from use.  Also, would it be just individuals, or a fleet competition as well, to test a teamwork dynamic in the land battle setting?
Personally, I would like to see something like this happen, especially if it were recurring.  I would definitely watch (haven't been back long enough to get my skills/levels/etc up to have a chance at something like this).
I hope you can get it off the ground!

Wow Aislyn and Tim still play good to see more OG's of UWO.

As far as a land battle tournament I think with the game evolved so much you should just allow everything forged gear aides skills whatever. Sky's the limit that way it's easier to regulate

Also a team battle would be awesome would let group strategy be key.

One thing I never liked about land battle tournaments was there was no build up like it lasts one day boom its done its so... Anti climatic. Make it last for like a month and have people advance like In a tournament bracket til it builds up to a finale.

You could also divide it up maybe each season a different tournament like. Winter team tournament, spring single battle tournament, summer best in each nation tournament, fall Range weapon only battle

Also put a hall of fame of past winners on forums for bragging rights

The title of Land battle Champion is a most prestigious title but Alas my days of dueling are over sigh....

In a different game that I used to play, when there were PVP tournaments, each player had to use a standard set of equipment and could only vary what "spells/skills" that they had active.
They also had different levels of players.  for us maybe below 60, 61-80 and 81+
In this case you would have to pre set your custom techs and college skills.
all base weapon types with say 25 attack and each type of defense equipment of 10d each. Your choice of 10 standard consumables from eagles wings to ointments and poisons, soma etc. Then enter an arena.

The same could be applied to sea battles.   two types of battles, cannon: Everyone uses say a first class viasseau with +36 armor and their choice of standard 18's  standard sterncastles or rams maybe 15/15 sails etc.
Melee: everyone uses a galeass etc. same crew etc.

@patersmith66  The same could be applied to sea battles.   two types of battles,

What you propose here is what would fall under the "limited" environment i suggested above. Issue is though, in this game it really comes down to skill, not lvl's. So even as fun as a 'stockyard' ship battle could be, with max skills you could still one shot kill a ship even with broadside. Ofc, I'm talking about max refine skills but you don't need lvl requirements to max that, so even a toon under lvl 50 could have max skills for that.

I don't think you could really separate a tournament between cannon and melee fighting. You could have just a straight melee fight, but when doing cannon fighting (unless it was scored though number of crit shots made), ships will eventually get to close and cause melee to happen. Not sure why you suggested using sterncastle or rams for cannon fighting rounds, those are melee items. And part of being a melee fighter is using cannons to support your attack by offseting your opponent. I think each person should just enter with their own strategy and just have to compensate for opposing styles, that's part of being a skilled player in a tournament environment. So anything would go given the above mentioned league restrictions you play in.

Come out (if you don't already) to some of the pvp events like ESF(Epic Sea Feud) and BC(Battle Campaign) to see for yourself how these different styles relate to eachother in a group play. This way you get to see what different players use and how they use it in pvp play. But this thread is about land battle not sea battle so i digress lol.

Land battle is the same dilemma though, it comes down to techs and skill (even if the same gear was used and same lvl's). A low lvl can still grind out their skills without focusing on xp heavily, but then again as i said a tournament is about 'who's the best'. I still think it's worth trying out though.
