Land survey Basic

Hello,

Here is a guide for doing easy land
survey.

I used West Tunis for illustrate that
presentation, thanks for its help.

image

On the left, the map of the land to
survey.

All the landmarks there are noticed,
inland access included, if there is one. West Tunis has one.

On the right, the list of actions to do
for complete that land survey.

You will have noticed 2 kinds of
actions.

The coloured action (pink for myself)
is mandatory. No more progress if that one is not done.

The white actions are optionals. Thou,
required for complete the land survey.

What action i do ?

Measuring an area by triangulation

Bigger is better. You fail your
triangulation if you are too short, and have to do it again.

It is your
first 200ac area, you mumble bad words and repeat your measurements.
You fail your last 1900ac triangulation for 2ac short, you
might do thoughtless gestures, harmful for your home equipment or the
cat who passed by.

Complete collection

By collecting goods, you stack an
amount of points. The action is completed when the cap is reached. It
works also with procurement, NOT with search.

One point by good collected whatever is
the collection/procurement rank required for.

Grass, sand, rock DONT COUNT into the
action. Which means collecting action is way more painfull at Byblos
than west Famagusta, as example.

If the collection
action is mandatory, no choice, you'll have to pass that. If not, you
might prefer shout the npcs there instead of burn your vigour into
sand collecting.

Defeat x NPC(s)

no need more explanation

you can also have

Making a discovery

You have to do a discovery there, from
quest or map. You can repeat already discovered quest/map

Complete a quest

any quest completed there will count.
Adv quest, of course, but also those Maritime quest which ask you to
kill npc there.

Investigate landmark

Go to the named landmark and click it.

When there is one, inland access is
counted in the landmarks. Only unique landmarks might be part of the
required actions for complete a land survey.

Planning

Before starting the survey itself, you
will browse your favorite database for more infos about that land.

What kind of landmark there is there ?

image

Here, you see you have 3 table boulders
and a ruins.

Which means only the ruins and the
byrsa hill access can be required for further actions.

What i can collect there ?

Most land have enough goods available,
but some are really painfull for collecting. West Tunis is ok for
collecting.

Do i have enough landmark ribbon ?

A bit late to notice your lack of
ribbon in the far end of South America lands...

Starting the survey

According to what i know about the
landmarks there, i choose to do the triangulation to the north instead of
following the example. That way i stay not too far from the ruins and
finish near a landmark in case of mandatory collecting.

image

my first action is now in blue and news
actions have appeared. My new mandatory is collection #2. Complete
collection actions are cumulative, i have to complete the first one
white before filling the mandatory one.

image

Collection is completed. Now, i have to
investigate Ruins. The landmark is highlighted on the map, so no
trouble to find it.

image

Ruins investigated.

Next step is a mandatory triangulation,
and an optional investigation appears too. I know there is no mammal
bones as landmark, so it is the inland access on the edge west of the
map(all maps have north up).

So my move will be this one :
first point at the ruins where i am, second point at the inland
access and investigate it, third point at the landmark to the south.

image

Behind the map investigation screen,
you can discern the triangulation made.

And i dont have anymore mandatory
action, so i'll have to finish that survey with white ones.

image

image

I have a huge triangulation, 10 NPCs to
kill, collection to complete and a complete quest action (under
complete collection).

image

I completed the collection ( 6 points
is easy to get) and i'll do that huge triangulation which bring me
back to the entrance : first point on the wall south of the
table boulder where i am, second point at the mammal bones, back to
the entrance with landmark ribbon and third point there.

My land survey is now complete, i valid
it by opening the chart screen and select another land to chart.

Adventurers never ends \o/

Charts which start by mandatory
discovery

image

In east mediterranean sea, you'll have
to charts few land which start by a mandatory discovery. Discovery
action can be shared, so with a bit of preparation, you can easily pass those charts.

Create a fleet and  load 2 quests for 2 different lands on each fleetmate (which require
few ranks in cultural contribution). With a fleet of 2, you can pass 4 lands with discovery at first action

Ivyro has list of discoveries maps n
quests made under the maps of those lands. Most of them have low
requirement and are easy to share.

Congratulations to
those who have read this topic until the end.

How does one get access to the West Siberian Plain investigation?  I did all land regions in the north except this one, getting the message "This land region is not available for investigations yet.  You will be
able to initiate investigations as you progress in the event related to
the Land Region Investigations", when I try to chart it.  I have been to that region, but am not allowed to chart it.
