185 sailors ring wont equip in ring/neclace slots

I have a lv 188 aloken, I have recently purchased a sailors ring of the abyss. I have upgraded it to +4.

but when I try to equip the ring the slots are red and it wont equip. I thought maybe the ring was bugged, so I had a friend try to equip the ring and he had no problems with doing so on his char. so I was wondering if my char. was bugged somehow not allowing me to put the ring on. I have had this character for over 6 years and would really like to be able to upgrade to wear all he new items that dekaron has introduced to the game. I'm a daily player. I was hope that you could check this out for me,
