Just a little and easy guide about the pet system.

There are 3 types of pets:
- Normal
- Rare
- Unique

Everytime you open a Normal/Rare/Unique Pet Egg you will get a random pet.


In order to get a Rare Pet Egg you need to combine TWO normal pets. (low chance)
In order to get a Unique Pet Egg you need to combine TWO rare pets. (low chance)
Also there is a very low chance to get a Unique Pet Egg if you combine a normal pet and a rare pet, but the rate is that low that I don't recommend it.

Note: Pets which are currently in use/equipped can't be combined, you have to unequip them in order to combine them.


How to combine pets?
Example to get Rare Pet Egg

1st step
Open 2 Normal Pet Eggs and put them in your pet inventory ("y" is the default key).
Note: You can only put items in your pet inventory if the tab "General Info" was choosen.

2nd step
Switch to the tab Pet Combination and click on the 2 normal pets.

3rd step
Click combine now and check your pet inventory which kind of Pet Egg it contains now.



Normal pets have 1 Rank Option.
Rare pets have 2 Rank Options.
Unique pets have 3 Rank Options.


Once you got a Unique Pet you can combine it with EVERY other pet to obtain another Unique Pet Egg. However it doesn't matter what kind of pet you use, for example if you combine your Unique pet with a Normal Bregon the chance to obtain an Unique Bregon is the same as if you would have used a Normal Ariel or any other Normal pet.

Every Unique Pet got a special stat which can be seen in the pet inventory if the pet is equiped. Move your mouse over the little Icon below the picture of your pet.


Soul chain

You can only use the Soul Chain option 10 times per pet.
You will always get random stats from it.
Also you can get an item called "Reset Soul Chain" for 10 Golden Coins from Jack in Ardeca. To use it you have to put it in the pet inventory (through the tab General Info) and move your pet to the Soul Chain slot, then click "Initialization" and you will have another 10 Soul Chains.


Sockets

Sockets will be randomly created in Unique Pets only. There are different gems which you can put in (list below). However if you want to remove the gem inside of the pet I highly suggest you to get a "Stonemason's Breath" from DShop or buy it from other players in order to reach 100% succes rate and don't lose the socket.
You CAN'T create a (new) socket in a pet for now.

Pet gems (currently obtainable, more will be added):
Pet Taric +1/2/4% Melee Attack
Pet Clamp +1/2/4% Range Attack
Pet Piz +1/2/4% Magic Attack
Pet Modi +1/2/4% Defense
Pet EXP Increase +12% EXP
Pet Chance +4% Critical Rate
Pet Power +4% Critical Damage
Pet Cancel +4% Abnormal Resi

The success rates are (thanks to Bambii for the info):

(N) + (N) = 95% (N), 5% (R)
(R) + (N) = 45% (N), 30% (R), 25% (U)
(R) + (R) = 5% (N), 60% (R), 35% (U)
(U) + any = 100% (U)

Just clarifying, when you put "(U) + any = 100% (U)"

Does that mean if i combine my Unique pet with a normal one i will always get a Unique pet back ?

I thought it was different, just clarifying is all.

yes molly, you always get a unique pet.

@iMolly Combining a unique pet with another pet (normal/rare/unique) its always 100% Unique pet as a result.

1- How to make socket in the pet ?

2- where to get 4% attack gem ?

1. You can't. You are either lucky to get a socket on a decent pet or you don't.

2. At the moment I think there is no way to get it. In the past it possible through DShop which had a pet package 2x10 pets + Pet Socket Stone Box (gems binded). Also there was such a package in blue gem lottery but I forgot how much % the gems had.

@LizardLickLogan You can't combine eggs! Only hatched pets can be combined in order to get an egg!

No idea about a specific best pet for hunter, but I guess it's like for everyone else the pk res/dmg decrease pets. Best is you ask known high Lv hunters ingame.

Pet EXP Increase = % Extra Experience 
Pet Chance = % Critical Chance ("Critical" stat)

Pet Cancel = % Abnormal Status Resist
Pet Power = % Critical Damage ("Vitality" stat)

So if I have a unique pet with a socket and I combine it with any other pet, do I stand to lose the socket in the resulting combination or is the socket safe regardless of the outcome?

It's always a random chance to get a socket, there's no guarantee.

A Pet Egg named "Unique Pet Egg" is always the same Unique Pet Egg with the same ID, doesn't matter which pets you combined nor if they had sockets or gems inside.

So if I combine a pet with a socket, with a pet without a socket, is there any chance the new pet could lose the socket?

Every time you combine, you get an egg and every egg is completely new random setup, so, yes, you loose everything when you combine!

Is there any way to make a socket for unique pet if not socketed ??

No, not at this action, nor the following one. Some programming effort needs to be made, but I see they just copy-paste and adapt, no true programmers any more in this project. They can't even correct NPC names in all instances (different on map, quest list and explanation of quest), so don't expect anything more complicated...
