More land battles. Picked upTech #86 Triple Arrow (bow R2 quick tech). I dump all my bows and switch to a rifle. My gunfire is only R5. I need R3 for one of the R2 gun techs and R8 for the other. It is super nice to have the skill bonus on to help grind the low level skills!
------
I switch to collection mode and fill up on berries. I return to EA to load my quarters and see If I can pick up a +2 gunfire outfit from one of the company shops. That way I will get R6+2 gunfire pretty quickly and be able to get that last gun R2 tech. I also pick up a spare chicken cook book.
-------
At the end of the day I put my aides in the Aide fleet. I do about 300 land battles and make Trap R10, Gunfire R6, and Snipe R7.
More land battles. I pick up Tech #87 New Sure Shot and Tech #88 New Charge, shot tech #89 New Strong Arrow Strike.
. I switch to crossbows to work towards my last R2 weapon tech.
-------
Even though I am Trade 85, I spend a few hours in Boston feeding my aides, aide food and processing to get their traits up. My #5 aide is at 38/42/36 all traits 100's
---------
End of day, 300 more land battles. Made Gunfire R7
Festival is over. Back to NA to make boots to sell. I am up to about 2B saved up, but will soon spend it all making and grading my Cruise High Clipper.
----------
After setting up my boot bazaar, I help a company mate grind handicrafts. I grind my alcohol and wares trade while she does handicrafts.
---------
I spent the rest of the day working on my Cruise High Clipper. I scrounged around for parts and built the base ship G0. I sailed to the company colony and prepared to grade the ship to G4. To get to G4, It cost me about 700M and 90 minutes. With the new ship building system revamp, it is unclear if there is an advantage of G4 over G3.The new system seems much simpler and much easier to understand.Adding ship skills is now completely separated from modding and upgrading a ships stats.
You can either choose to add stats or add skills (if skill slots are available.) The parts that used to be used to add a skill are still required, but have NO effect on the ships stats if you choose to add the skill. ie. A gaff sail and antifouling paint are used to add Emergency Acceleration to a ship and each part would add stats AND the skill to the ship. Now you have to choose which you want to add: A mod for stats or a ship skill.
---------
In the end my ship cost roughly 1B and is a G4 5/5 Cruise High clipper. With sails equipped it is 531V 639V Turn 26, Wave 21, Armor 22, crew 99, guns 8, cargo 519, Durability 863. It is equipped with Exploration refit and Haul assist. The ship can easily be over modded (beyond 5/5) to 7 or 8/5 and add wave/turn/armor etc., but I think Papaya designed the overmodding is for those who really have lots of $ to spend on extra SSIP's.
Testing out my new CHC, I raise my First Shipwreck ever! To do this, I put gunfire in my skills bookcase in the archives to open up a new skill slot. This has always been my plan. Next week I will put Snipe in the bookshelf and pick up Astronomy as my last (or second last) skill. The point is that there is a such a huge skill bonus to working on low level skills that now is the time to get both new skills to R7-8. Adventure quests and more shipwrecks .
-----------
I do a tour around the world for adventure quests and pick up my standard load of EA goods on the way back.
-----------
End of day I raise 9 wrecks and get Haul to R5. Passed 1540 Discoveries.
More of the same; Adventure quests and Shipwrecks. The only thing of note is that I was rewarded a total of 27 Headache meds and several other memorial album discoveries.
-----------
End of day 16 wrecks total, Haul R6, passed 1550 Discoveries.
=========
August 18th, Day 306
More adventure quests, archive maps and shipwrecks. The only detour I made today was to get my alt's craft trade up to R8 at Naples as I stopped on an adventure quest.
---------
One comment regarding the new shipbuilding rules. They seem to be much easier, but I have seen some truly crazy ships like one 25/8 Ottoman Galeass, with 30 turn and 30 wave resistance.. etc. It makes the difference between normal and elite ships really stand out.
---------
Shipwreck #24, 6 star 20/20 map pieces in Korea.
---------
End of day 24 wrecks total, Haul R7, Passed 1560 Discoveries.
Interesting. While doing a quest that ended in North Calicut, I discovered Hail! (Natural Phenomenon near the lower left swamp.)
----------
Shipwreck #30 was 25/25 9star. I have not discarded a map yet and have not come across a map with no land references yet. I did not realize how many items you get for your memorial album from shipwrecks. My land battle skills are fairly decent so even on the 9Star wreck, the 3 50 npcs are no problem. My unlock is also very high so I am just cruising through the wrecks.
I have an issue with the quest "Mountains of Legend" in the description, it mentions geography near Hormuz and Mesopotamian culture and you should ask the Archeology student there. There = Basra, not Hormuz which is not mentioned at all and the Archeology student is actually the travelling archologist.
-----------
I am collecting up so many items from shipwrecks, I now put them up for sale for "free" maybe 100 ducats each. mostly +1 jewlery, or low level weapons and clothes.
-----------
End of day, 40 wrecks, including a 9star Made R8 Salvage. 1600 discoveries.
Another day of Adventure quests and shipwrecks.I am also preparing for EA goods.
---------
Tip of the day. You really only need PO #1's and #3's for the EA goods in San Francisco. After reviewing the EA goods of the last 8 months or so, the only goods that show up are the goods that are unlocked in each area by cultural points in each area.
ie. Wuxu Porcelain, Water Caltrop, Paper lanters, etc. If you look at the goods that are unlocked by cultural points, there is/are 1 Seasoning; 1 medicine; 1 Fiber; 3 crafts; 2 Sundries; 1 art; 2 Luxury goods; 2 foods, a total of 13 goods possible. Of these 13, 7 are not that valuable in Europe.. only valuable in East Asia to trade to other EA countries, or locations outside Europe. (their value in Europe is less than 10k per good.. like Water Caltrop) Of the remaining 6 goods, 3 are crafts, 2 are sundries and 1 is art. Sundries are PO #1, and Crafts/Art are PO #3; so those are the only PO's you need to scrounge for just prior to the EA goods showing up in San Fran!
-----------
Toughest wreck so far. I had to solo raise this one because my alt does not have all of NE and NW passages open. 9 Star in the Chukchi Sea.
-----------
So far I am 48 out of 48 wrecks. Since I am using one top non cash adventure ship with haul assist and exploration refit, and usually have my alt in one of the top trade ships assist, I have only had ONE rope break in 48 wrecks. Towing the ship seems to have zero speed reduction on acceleration or top speed. The other two things I have that allow me to do every wreck is 1) access to all sea zones and 2) high level adventure and unlock skills. Every wreck usually requires one random adventure skill to complete.
------------
End of Day 48 Shipwrecks raised, 1620 discoveries.
More of the same, but less. There is an update in the middle of the day to change the treasure cove items and update the PvP restrictions.
---------
I have started to list the available quests from different capitals, as the list is becoming short in several capitals. It is much more efficient to know where I can pick up a quest going to a certain area. Then take It when I have to go there to raise a shipwreck.
-------
I have started my Alt on his way to opening up the NE passage and NW passage. It is really not needed for himself , but I want him to be able to access the remote locations (to help my main toon) now that I got my first shipwreck in that area. Without a second person helping, SW's become much more difficult. The note identifying which of the two in the fleet is closer to the SW, cuts the time to locate the wreck by more than half!
--------
Ha just as I am planning ahead, I get my second 9 star wreck in the North.
---------
I end the day collecting berries and exotic fruit in North America and working my alt's cooking and storage skills. He needs to get back to R15 before the next Thanksgiving Festival in early September.
More SW and adventure quests.I do another world tour, with quests and shipwrecks. On my way back from a SW in the Bering Sea West, I bring a load of EA goods.
----------
I took the company liners back to EA and did a second round of adventure quests starting to unlock astronomy, and another Wreck in Bering Sea West, and another load of EA goods to Europe.
----------
I started a THIRD round to EA, this time via Suez and Calicut. I needed to stop in Calicut to get the 6th of 7 prequests to unlock Astronomy. After dropping 100 QMP's top try and get the quest, I decided to read the full comment section. It turns out that as of May 2018 (just 3 months ago) they reduced the requirement to get astronomy. Now only the first two prequests are needed, then you can go to St. Petersburg and take the quest "Introduction to Astronomy."This may have been part of a race to discover new astronomical bodies that I did not take note of. (I would assume Papaya wanted to make it easier for newer players to get astronomy and participate, just like the ship wreck race that I ignored.
--------------
End of Day 60 Wrecks raised, passed 1640 discoveries.
More quests.I spent an hour in Famagusta trying to collect telescopes for the unlock Astronomy quest.Got the Astronomer Job Card.
----------
Rest of the day was spent in prep for the EA goods showing up in San Francisco. I spend a lot of time between in Boston and North America East coast. I collected berries and exotic fruit and then went to Boston to work on my alt's refined cooking and storage skills. His storage is now R15+2 refined and cooking at R14+2.
----------
End of Day 63 wrecks raised (Made R9 Salvage) and 1650 discoveries.
A few more shipwrecks, before I switch to Astronomy. I have put Snipe and Gunfire in the skill bookshelf to make room for Salvage, and now Astronomy. I have room for one more storage skill and will think on that later.
-----------
Salvage skill is now on the side. I will still do shipwrecks if I am close, but I will be out of job and working on my astronomy skill.
----------
Shipwreck #65 was the Santa Maria wreck discovery, which is the prerequisite to get the salvager job.Now my only problem is getting two improved salvage ropes. They are not easy as my farm is not developed enough for the recipe to show up, and I am unable to find any in my first scan of Lisbon/Seville/London/Amsterdam.
---------
End of day 70 wrecks raised, 1660 discoveries and I made Adventure level 83!!
More shipwrecks and adventure quests.I just go where the quests take me. There are a lot fewer astronomy quests than I thought.I am in the Astronomer job and am at R5+3 currently but again, most of the xp has come from just browsing the archives.I have discovered only 1 map in the 20-30 times I have browsed the archives. In the mean time, I just keep taking quests that go to wherever the next wreck is.
------------
I had a wreck finally take me to SEA, so I did the usual fill up on copper ore in Manilla and traded for EA goods before going back to Europe via. SF-Boston.
------------
End of Day 77 wrecks raised, over 1670 discoveries. Astronomy is R6.
More wrecks and adventure quests. What I find interesting from raising wrecks is that many of the wrecks have items that I have never used before. I get 2-3 items per 7Star or higher wrecks. I keep a lot of the foot/hat/clothing/hand wear that give +2 trading skills.
-----------
Because of the + trade items that I have collected I wanted to see if I can get a +10 to a trade skill and grind the skill, with some PO's and skill booster.
----------
The items don't stop. On my last 9* wreck I got,
39 Seal of Gnome
91 Dragon's Blood
Jade Earrings
Iron Gloves
72 Taffeta
Escort's bow
67 Red alchemy ointment... all useful items, but I have just too much of the stuff. The items that are not useful to me, I am putting up in an aide bazaar named Scurvy's Junk.
-------------
End of day 85 wrecks raised, passed 1680 discoveries.
Some electrical work was being done at my home so I was not connected for most of the day.
-----------
I think that I raised maybe 2 wrecks and made 3-4 discoveries.
==========
August 29th, Day 326
I hit my first open sea Shipwreck. No clue. I guess I will just go on doing regular quests until I come across an area close to the shipwreck.
-----------
I had my alt work on trade skills. I used a skill booster and lots of PO#1's that I had stored up for the San Francisco EA goods event that did not happen (did happen but lousy goods). He got Sundries trade to R9, Seasoning Trading to R10 and Food trading to R11+2 refined.
-----------
End of day 91 shipwrecks raised and passed 1690 discoveries.
Post edit. obviously I made a typo with the day in the last post. Should be 317
-----------
I found the shipwreck with no land markings. I sailed from Japan to Northeast Pacific, then south to Chile sea basin. From there I sailed to Cape basin, then North towards Seville. The wreck was in the Grain Coast half way between Pernambuco and Sierra Leone. It was a Ghost Wreck which I have never seen before. On a Ghost Wreck, you cannot open the chests until you have defeated the 3NPC Ghost Pirates. I can't remember exactly ,but they are around 53,43,31?? level.Once you defeat them, you can unlock all the chests. In addition, they have "lost ghost sailors" that randomly appear on board. This lasts for about 3 minutes or so. During that time, if you click on them they also give you either an item, goods, adventure xp or gold.Nice!! After the 3 minutes or so, the ship is quiet or they kick you off. In the 3 minutes or so, you should be able to click on about 15 of them.
---------------
More adventure quests, shipwrecks and another EA run.
------------
On the way from Suez to Calicut to do more quests, I stopped in Massawa and had my alt work on his metal trade. He is geared up to be R6+8. I used a skill booster again and some PO'4s and I got his metal trade to R8.
-------------
End of day 98 shipwrecks, passed 1700 discoveries!
I will be out for the next 3-4 days. The best I can do is probably log on from my labtop and do some collecting and investing in North American Railways.
=========
Sept 1-2-3, Day 320-321-322
I was out of town. Not much to report.
=========
Sept 4th, Day 323.
I am back in business. I leave North America after investing and collecting and continue with my adventure quests.
------------
I do three laps around the world doing quests and shipwrecks. Each trip I pick up a load of EA goods and set them in a Bazaar in Seville as well as a second bazaar selling "Scurvy's Junk" for 1 coin each.
More adventure quests and shipwrecks. Not much of note except that on one wreck I picked up a Large Storm sail. Nice!
-----------
End of day 109 shipwrecks, 1730 discoveries.
========
Sept 6th, Day 325.
More adventure quests and shipwrecks. I did not get much done today, but that is because I am stuck on Shipwreck #111. It has no land markings. I did two loops around the world and brought EA goods back to europe twice. ONce I went the Northern routed from Japan to San Francisco. The other time I went from Japan around the South of South America and back up the East coast of SA to Seville.... Nothing.
Still looking for wreck #111. I discovered Volcanic Clastic Materials (Natural Phenomenon)in Java North Coast landing area while doing a quest. I continue to do quests going to remote areas hoping to get a message "a shipwreck has sunk in nearby waters." Today Seville to Cape, Cape to Pinjara, Pinjara to Jakarta to get new quests.. Jakarta to Pinjara, Pinjara to Hobart/Wangui... Nothing!Wangui/South Pacific to the Beaufort sea... Beaufort sea to the Baffin Bay.. Baffin Bay to the Barrents Sea East...!
Discovered Fallstreak Hole (Natural Phenomenon) in Bering Sea East at 8550:1740.
I finally found the wreck in Baffin Bay. Nice!
------------
A few advanced notes on shipwrecking. 1)The grid of the shipwreck map is very close to 600 x 600 on the survey grid and the map pretty much matches the map shown when you bring it up. If you are using the MTC map, this pretty much eliminates the Barrents sea and Chukchi Sea area as a possible locations of a wreck with no land markers.2) The notice the shipwreck is nearby is given in an area 50 x 50 and the wreck is right in the centre of that notice. So if you are searching solo and using a grid pattern in the sea zone, (starting at the South West corner of the sea zone) you can sail in one direction say from South to North till you hit the north sea zone edge, then sail East by 45 points on your survey grid then sail South till you hit the south sea zone edge, turn east and sail another 45 points, then sail North again to continue the pattern. 3)Once you hit the notice, "You are near the shipwreck" slow down to minimum speed until you no longer get that notice. Take note of the co-ordinates. Turn around and sail back 25 points, the wreck will be to port or starboard and within 25 points. 4) the message "the shipwreck you are searching for seems to be in nearby waters" does not guarantee that the wreck is in an adjacent sea zone. I got the message in Madagascar and Southwest Indian Ocean and the wreck was in Agulhas. (separated by Mozambique sea zone) Mozambique sea zone gives the same message.
-----------
NPC pirates have can be right on a wreck. I raised a wreck right under 3 Namib bandits today.
------------
Last funny note, if your ship hits 0 durability while towing a wreck, you lose the wreck, and it sinks where you hit 0 durability. When you re-raise the wreck, you get no salvage skill xp so you can't grind salvage by wrecking your own ship. They also can get stuck on a reef, will test on an easy wreck to verify
More land battles for my main. My alt is going for 1 trade level per day (roughly 500k trade xp per day).
-----------
I complete another 400 land battles over the day and am very close to leveling my adventure. One more day will do it.
=========
Sept 12th. Day 331
After doing my required 1hour of collecting, I have only 36k adventure xp left to make level 84.I plan to do 360 more land battles and level. The only other thing of note in my plans is that I since I have been doing shipwrecks, I have collected 120 sets of master smithy tools and will consider picking up my TeraAmina in Istanbul from my quarters manequin and doing land battles with it to increase the forte on the weapon. I will also mostl likely pick up another Guerilla Job card since I am close bye and don;'t want to spend the 50M to switch jobs to it.The sole reason for being in the Guerilla is to skill swordplay and sword mastery; especially sword mastery since it is currently R6 and will get a boost from the Papaya skill bonus.
-------------
End of day I do another 400 land battles and level adventure. I make Collection R15.
My bad. Guerilla does not favor sword mastery.I will have to switch to a maritime job to work that.My top priority used to be adventure xp, but now that I am Adventure level 84, it is not so critical. The last level will come with more adventure quests and shipwrecks. Today I will switch to swordmaster and make sure I skill up Sword mastery to R8.
-----------
There are 25 more days to go for the 1 year anniversary and I do not think I can make 85/85/85 but 84/85/85 is definitely doable.
-----------
by the end of the last day of the festival, I completed 1200 land battles and made swordmastery R7. I also made R15 collection.
==========
Sept 14th, Day 333
I finish in Boston, all of my aides are now at a minimum Trade level 44. I have completed 184 Boston Thesis and my alt has 242 Theses completed and he made 1.4M xp in the 4 days and ended at level 84 trade. The Boston academic Association is now 14,100/20,000. At 20k, I think building #3 is unlocked.
-------------
I change to swordfighter and do 100 more land battles and grind Swordmastery to R8.
I switch focus to my alt's trade skills. I get him to R8 in perfume trading and R8 Luxury trading.I also get my own Accounts skill to R6. Accounts is a really hard thing to work on as the skill is based on successful haggling at the market and you can only make a few haggles per port. Even after using items and all of my re-negotiation demands, the best I got with one series of haggles was six in a row. (not all at one go, but If I made a successful haggle, I bought a small amount of goods and then tried to haggle again.)
Tips on accounts... be in a national port and use Hanseatic seals.
-----------
Back to some adventures and raising wrecks. Can a wreck be carriaged/railed from San Francisco to Boston? Yes.I also think that the items you get from a wreck are based on where you open the wreck. I picked up wreck #130 in Kamchatka, East Asia and then towed the ship to SF-> Boston where I searched the wreck. The items I got were pioneer items (North America Items.)
-----------
I spend some time collecting berries to make Poupelin trees for today's company contribution.I spend the time planning my final maritime ship modificationsand ship skills. The goal is to spend the last few days of the skill boost, which ends on Sept 19th in 4 days, working on the few sub 8 skills I have left. Surgery R7, Arms R6, and Ballistics R5.
------
I also changed to priest, popped a fame and skill booster and reported over 300 discoveries to the proper people in London/Amsterdam. I made sociability R8
A day to make my final Maritime ship a "Victory." I build it in Plymouth, and sail to the company colony to grade it to G3. It costs me about 600M to complete the grading.
The two skills that I put on the ship are Durability Improvement and Increased cabin capacity. Ship upgrades are not so complicated anymore, and you can always add another modification to maximize your ship's stats. I get the first few modifications done to my ship and get the ship handling proficiency up at the colony. Tomorrow I will continue the modifications and raise wrecks/adventure while the ship is being modified.
=========
Sept 17th,Day 336
More Mods on my maritime ship and Adventure quests and shipwrecks while I wait.
----------
I make Rank 21 in Istanbul, "District Governor" (Rank 19 was Supreme Commander and Rank 20 was "Inspector".It must be from all the investing in random towns to grind up my sociability skill.
-----------
At the end of the day I have made 7 upgrades to my ship.
Last full day of the skill boost. My ship is not totally done, but good enough to use for battle reports in the Black sea. I will be working on Tactics, Surgery and Arms. Oddly I will be in the Steam Engineer job until my Arms hits R8, as it is the only job, besides Grand Admiral that has Arms as a preferred skill.
---------
Two more upgrades to my new Maritime ship. It is aG3 Victory; The stats (without sails/and plates) 322V, 422H 1449 Durability, 25 Turn, 28 Wave resistance, 53 Armor.234 Crew, 104 Cannon Chambers, 266 Cargo Hold. Bullet Proof ARmor and Improved Gun port for ship skills.
As this is a non cash ship, it requires levels 44A, 31T and 79 Maritime to sail.
It is really sad to say that this ship, which may have been a top ship during the OGP days, is really a mediocre ship at best. This ship will do the job vs. any NPCs, but in this age of Papaya's over modifications, this ship will get totally owned in a Player vs. Player battle. When I was sitting outside Seville and Lisbon waiting for my ship to be completed, I looked at some of the other ships with 20+ mods ie. G6, with 25 upgrades, compared to my G3 with 8 upgrades. Some ships had 330+ crew and 125 Armor! 30+ turn and 30+ wave resistance. Absolutely amazing.
-------
I end the day starting off a Battle report in the Black Sea. The main goal is not the xp from the report, but to skill up my last 3 skills. I have no cannons, and am just going into melee right away in every battle.I work Arms to R7, and Tactics to R6.It is hard to work Surgery as it is not preferred and I only get to work it at the end of a melee.
I complete my battle report and keep working on Tactics and Melee. I almost make R8 Tactics, but stop at 4300/4900 just prior to the update, I report the quest and switch to work accounts for 15 minutes. With gear on, I am 6+4 in Accounts. I surprise myself and am unable to use up my last 40 re-negotiation demands (found on shipwrecks) in the 15 minutes. My success rate via haggling is pretty good and so I am still working on accounts when the update boots me off the server.
-----------
End of day I level Maritime to 80, and make R7 Tactics.
I am going to slow down as there is no pressure to get anything done in a hurry
---------
The next update will end the shipbuilding bonus, but I have completed making all 3 of my endgame ships so there is no rush there either.
---------
I finally have the plot on my farm set to make hemp. I make the trip to my farm island with pure iron sheets, hemp and suede. I make 15 sets of improved salvage rope, and go back to Athens to take the Salvager Job.What is nice about the salvager job is that it favors unlock as well as salvage. Now when I unlock the chests on each wreck about half of them (the locked ones) I get to work my unlock skill.
--------
A company mate Diogo, helped me with some questions about shipwrecks and now they are even easier. The key question being is every wreck unique or is there a limited number that repeat. The answer is that wrecks are not unique.Essentially what it means is that if I get a 8* wreck that is 28 pieces and no land, it will not be in a random sea zone. It will be in Baffin Bay for sure as there is only one no land, 8*,28 map piece wreck. It cannot randomly show up in the South Indian Ocean.
A few more wrecks and adventure quests. I am working in slow motion compared to the boost time. It is a good time to work on language only filler quests.
-----------
End of day 160 Shipwrecks, 1780 discoveries, Unlock R11 and Geography R11.
===========
Sept 22, day 341
Was out all day at a conference. Not much done.
==========
Sept 23, Day 342
Back to Shipwrecks and Adventure quests. It is a long steady grind. I figure in another two weeks I will make level 85.
===========
Sept 24th, Day 343
It is the random EA good in San Francisco day. The good is Yangzhou Chestnuts. It is not the best good, but they do sell well in North Africa. (Algeris, Tunis, Alexandria etc.)
I spend the whole day just with my alt in San Francisco and myself shuttling goods to an aide bazaar in Boston. My alt starts out with R11+6. I find out my alt's aide has food trading in the afternoon and go from R11+7 to R13+7 (+2 refined+2 college+2 Garnet Brooch, +1 Aide = +7)
I am out most of the day. I get a few quests done and a few more wrecks.
------
While doing a quest in Japan, I discovered "Thick Fog" Natrural Phenomenon
End of day 175 Shipwrecks, 1790 Discoveries
===========
Sept 26th, Day 345
I spent most of the day working on my mineral and wares trading skill in Hamburg. I was out most of the day. What I did do was fleet a couple of company members and set up my aide bazaar again to hold minerals, graphite and coal at Hamburg. They worked their casting and management skills and I got my refined mineral trade back to R11++.
----------
End of day I only did 1 shipwreck but managed to make my 1800th discovery.
=========
Sept 27th, Day 346
Today I started a full time job again....
This means that my time playing UWO will be restricted to 1-2 hours max per day in the evenings. No more 10 discoveries and 5 shipwrecks per day. I will be lucky if I get 3 total done per day.I will still be collecting in NA every day to get my free (railroad invested) xp.
-------------
In any case, I will report on my 1 year skills and from then on, probably only post once per week as I did on OGP.
One quest, one shipwreck, collected in NA. Not much to report.
========
Sept 29th, Day 348
One weird shipwreck today. In Gulf of Mexico,S. Caribbean.I spent a good part of the day helping two company mates work on handicrafts and sewing. I set up aide bazaars at Oslo and keep it stocked with leather (for leather goods Handi R7, Stone and Lumber for stone sculptures, Handi R10 and wool/flax for sewing. R3-R10 Sewing) For textiles, I used my refined textiles trade skill "Fiber order", but for the Wares, I used PO 2's. I got my Wares trade less than 1000 skill from R14. I will have to help a few more players out before that gets refined.Once it does, I will be able to do a huge push in Alchemy skills.
Comments
August 13th, Day 301
More land battles. Picked up Tech
#86 Triple Arrow (bow R2 quick tech). I dump all my bows and switch to a
rifle. My gunfire is only R5. I need R3 for one of the R2 gun techs and R8 for
the other. It is super nice to have the skill bonus on to help grind the low
level skills!
------
I switch to collection mode and fill up
on berries. I return to EA to load my quarters and see If I can pick up a +2
gunfire outfit from one of the company shops. That way I will get R6+2 gunfire
pretty quickly and be able to get that last gun R2 tech. I also pick up a spare
chicken cook book.
-------
At the end of the day I put my aides in
the Aide fleet. I do about 300 land battles and make Trap R10, Gunfire R6, and Snipe R7.
August 14th, Day 302
More land battles. I pick up Tech #87 New Sure Shot and Tech #88 New
Charge, shot tech #89 New Strong Arrow Strike.
.
I switch to crossbows to work towards my last R2 weapon tech.
-------
Even though I am Trade 85, I spend a few
hours in Boston feeding my aides, aide food and processing to get their traits
up. My #5 aide is at 38/42/36 all traits 100's
---------
End of day, 300 more land battles. Made
Gunfire R7
82/85/79
August 15th, Day 303
Festival is over. Back to NA to make
boots to sell. I am up to about 2B saved up, but will soon spend it all making
and grading my Cruise High Clipper.
----------
After setting up my boot bazaar, I help
a company mate grind handicrafts. I grind my alcohol and wares trade while she
does handicrafts.
---------
I spent the rest of the day working on
my Cruise High Clipper. I scrounged around for parts and built the base ship
G0. I sailed to the company colony and prepared to grade the ship to G4. To get
to G4, It cost me about 700M and 90 minutes.
With the new ship building system revamp, it is unclear if there is an
advantage of G4 over G3. The new system
seems much simpler and much easier to understand. Adding ship skills is now completely
separated from modding and upgrading a ships stats.
You can either choose to add stats or
add skills (if skill slots are available.) The parts that used to be used to
add a skill are still required, but have NO effect on the ships stats if you
choose to add the skill. ie. A gaff sail and antifouling paint are used to add Emergency
Acceleration to a ship and each part would add stats AND the skill to the ship.
Now you have to choose which you want to add: A mod for stats or a ship skill.
---------
In the end my ship cost roughly 1B and
is a G4 5/5 Cruise High clipper. With sails equipped it is 531V 639V Turn 26,
Wave 21, Armor 22, crew 99, guns 8, cargo 519, Durability 863. It is equipped
with Exploration refit and Haul assist. The ship can easily be over modded (beyond
5/5) to 7 or 8/5 and add wave/turn/armor etc., but I think Papaya designed the
overmodding is for those who really have lots of $ to spend on extra SSIP's.
August 16, Day 304
Testing out my new CHC, I raise my First
Shipwreck ever! To do this, I put gunfire in my skills bookcase in the archives
to open up a new skill slot. This has
always been my plan. Next week I will put Snipe in the bookshelf and pick up
Astronomy as my last (or second last) skill.
The point is that there is a such a huge skill bonus to working on low
level skills that now is the time to get both new skills to R7-8. Adventure
quests and more shipwrecks .
-----------
I do a tour around the world for
adventure quests and pick up my standard load of EA goods on the way back.
-----------
End of day I raise 9 wrecks and get Haul
to R5. Passed 1540 Discoveries.
August 17th, Day 305
More of the same; Adventure quests and
Shipwrecks. The only thing of note is
that I was rewarded a total of 27 Headache meds and several other memorial
album discoveries.
-----------
End of day 16 wrecks total, Haul R6,
passed 1550 Discoveries.
=========
August 18th, Day 306
More adventure quests, archive maps and
shipwrecks. The only detour I made today
was to get my alt's craft trade up to R8 at Naples as I stopped on an adventure
quest.
---------
One comment regarding the new
shipbuilding rules. They seem to be much
easier, but I have seen some truly crazy ships like one 25/8 Ottoman Galeass,
with 30 turn and 30 wave resistance.. etc.
It makes the difference between normal and elite ships really stand out.
---------
Shipwreck #24, 6 star 20/20 map pieces
in Korea.
---------
End of day 24 wrecks total, Haul R7,
Passed 1560 Discoveries.
August 19th, Day 307
More adventure quests and archive maps.
--------------
Interesting. While doing a quest that
ended in North Calicut, I discovered
Hail! (Natural Phenomenon near the lower left swamp.)
----------
Shipwreck #30 was 25/25 9star. I have not discarded a map yet and have
not come across a map with no land references yet. I did not realize how many
items you get for your memorial album from shipwrecks. My land battle skills
are fairly decent so even on the 9Star wreck, the 3 50 npcs are no problem. My
unlock is also very high so I am just cruising through the wrecks.
---------
End of day 32 wrecks, 1580 discoveries.
August 20, Day 308
More Quests and Shipwrecks.
----------
I have an issue with the quest
"Mountains of Legend" in the description, it mentions geography near
Hormuz and Mesopotamian culture and you should ask the Archeology student
there. There = Basra, not Hormuz which
is not mentioned at all and the Archeology student is actually the travelling
archologist.
-----------
I am collecting up so many items from
shipwrecks, I now put them up for sale for "free" maybe 100 ducats
each. mostly +1 jewlery, or low level weapons and clothes.
-----------
End of day, 40 wrecks, including a 9star
Made R8 Salvage. 1600 discoveries.
August 21, Day 309
Another day of Adventure quests and
shipwrecks. I am also preparing for EA
goods.
---------
Tip of the day. You really
only need PO #1's and #3's for the EA goods in San Francisco. After reviewing the EA goods of the last 8
months or so, the only goods that show up are the goods that are unlocked in
each area by cultural points in each area.
ie. Wuxu Porcelain, Water Caltrop, Paper
lanters, etc. If you look at the goods that are unlocked by cultural points,
there is/are 1 Seasoning; 1 medicine; 1 Fiber; 3 crafts; 2 Sundries; 1 art; 2
Luxury goods; 2 foods, a total of 13 goods possible. Of these 13, 7 are not
that valuable in Europe.. only valuable in East Asia to trade to other EA
countries, or locations outside Europe. (their value in Europe is less than 10k
per good.. like Water Caltrop) Of the remaining 6 goods, 3 are crafts, 2 are
sundries and 1 is art. Sundries are PO #1, and Crafts/Art are PO #3; so those
are the only PO's you need to scrounge for just prior to the EA goods showing
up in San Fran!
-----------
Toughest wreck so far. I had to solo
raise this one because my alt does not have all of NE and NW passages open. 9
Star in the Chukchi Sea.
-----------
So far I am 48 out of 48 wrecks. Since I
am using one top non cash adventure ship with haul assist and exploration
refit, and usually have my alt in one of the top trade ships assist, I have
only had ONE rope break in 48 wrecks.
Towing the ship seems to have zero speed reduction on acceleration or
top speed. The other two things I have that allow me to do every wreck is 1)
access to all sea zones and 2) high level adventure and unlock skills. Every
wreck usually requires one random adventure skill to complete.
------------
End of Day 48 Shipwrecks raised, 1620 discoveries.
August 22, Day 310
More of the same, but less. There is an update in the middle of the day
to change the treasure cove items and update the PvP restrictions.
---------
I have started to list the available
quests from different capitals, as the list is becoming short in several
capitals. It is much more efficient to know where I can pick up a quest going
to a certain area. Then take It when I have to go there to raise a shipwreck.
-------
I have started my Alt on his way to
opening up the NE passage and NW passage. It is really not needed for himself ,
but I want him to be able to access the remote locations (to help my main toon)
now that I got my first shipwreck in that area.
Without a second person helping, SW's become much more difficult. The note identifying which of the two in the
fleet is closer to the SW, cuts the time to locate the wreck by more than half!
--------
Ha just as I am planning ahead, I get my
second 9 star wreck in the North.
---------
I end the day collecting berries and
exotic fruit in North America and working my alt's cooking and storage skills.
He needs to get back to R15 before the next Thanksgiving Festival in early
September.
---------
End of Day 53 wrecks, 1630 discoveries.
August 23, Day 311
More SW and adventure quests. I do another world tour, with quests and
shipwrecks. On my way back from a SW in
the Bering Sea West, I bring a load of EA goods.
----------
I took the company liners back to EA and
did a second round of adventure quests starting to unlock astronomy, and
another Wreck in Bering Sea West, and another load of EA goods to Europe.
----------
I started a THIRD round to EA, this time
via Suez and Calicut. I needed to stop in Calicut to get the 6th of 7 prequests
to unlock Astronomy. After dropping 100
QMP's top try and get the quest, I decided to read the full comment
section. It turns out that as of May
2018 (just 3 months ago) they reduced the requirement to get astronomy. Now
only the first two prequests are needed, then you can go to St. Petersburg and
take the quest "Introduction to Astronomy." This may have been part of a race to discover
new astronomical bodies that I did not take note of. (I would assume Papaya
wanted to make it easier for newer players to get astronomy and participate,
just like the ship wreck race that I ignored.
--------------
End of Day 60 Wrecks raised, passed 1640
discoveries.
August 24, Day 312
More quests. I spent an hour in Famagusta trying to
collect telescopes for the unlock Astronomy quest. Got
the Astronomer Job Card.
----------
Rest of the day was spent in prep for
the EA goods showing up in San Francisco. I spend a lot of time between in
Boston and North America East coast. I collected berries and exotic fruit and
then went to Boston to work on my alt's refined cooking and storage skills. His
storage is now R15+2 refined and cooking at R14+2.
----------
End of Day 63 wrecks raised (Made R9
Salvage) and 1650 discoveries.
August 25th, Day 313
A few more shipwrecks, before I switch
to Astronomy. I have put Snipe and Gunfire in the skill bookshelf to make room
for Salvage, and now Astronomy. I have room for one more storage skill and will
think on that later.
-----------
Salvage skill is now on the side. I will
still do shipwrecks if I am close, but I will be out of job and working on my
astronomy skill.
----------
Shipwreck #65 was the Santa Maria wreck
discovery, which is the prerequisite to get the salvager job. Now my only problem is getting two improved
salvage ropes. They are not easy as my farm is not developed enough for the
recipe to show up, and I am unable to find any in my first scan of
Lisbon/Seville/London/Amsterdam.
---------
End of day 70 wrecks raised, 1660
discoveries and I made Adventure level
83!!
83/85/79
August 26th, Day 314
More shipwrecks and adventure
quests. I just go where the quests take
me. There are a lot fewer astronomy quests than I thought. I am in the Astronomer job and am at R5+3
currently but again, most of the xp has come from just browsing the archives. I have discovered only 1 map in the 20-30
times I have browsed the archives. In the mean time, I just keep taking quests
that go to wherever the next wreck is.
------------
I had a wreck finally take me to SEA, so
I did the usual fill up on copper ore in Manilla and traded for EA goods before
going back to Europe via. SF-Boston.
------------
End of Day 77 wrecks raised, over 1670
discoveries. Astronomy is R6.
August 27, Day 315
More wrecks and adventure quests. What I find interesting from raising wrecks
is that many of the wrecks have items that I have never used before. I get 2-3
items per 7Star or higher wrecks. I keep a lot of the foot/hat/clothing/hand
wear that give +2 trading skills.
-----------
Because of the + trade items that I have
collected I wanted to see if I can get a +10 to a trade skill and grind the
skill, with some PO's and skill booster.
----------
The items don't stop. On my last 9*
wreck I got,
39 Seal of Gnome
91 Dragon's Blood
Jade Earrings
Iron Gloves
72 Taffeta
Escort's bow
67 Red alchemy ointment... all useful
items, but I have just too much of the stuff.
The items that are not useful to me, I am putting up in an aide bazaar named Scurvy's Junk.
-------------
End of day 85 wrecks raised, passed 1680
discoveries.
August 28th, Day 316
Some electrical work was being done at
my home so I was not connected for most of the day.
-----------
I think that I raised maybe 2 wrecks and
made 3-4 discoveries.
==========
August 29th, Day 326
I hit my first open sea Shipwreck. No
clue. I guess I will just go on doing regular quests until I come across an
area close to the shipwreck.
-----------
I had my alt work on trade skills. I
used a skill booster and lots of PO#1's that I had stored up for the San
Francisco EA goods event that did not happen (did happen but lousy goods). He
got Sundries trade to R9, Seasoning Trading to R10 and Food trading to R11+2
refined.
-----------
End of day 91 shipwrecks raised and
passed 1690 discoveries.
==========
August 30th, Day 318
-----------
Post edit. obviously I made a typo with the day in the last post. Should be 317
-----------
I found the shipwreck with no land
markings. I sailed from Japan to Northeast Pacific, then south to Chile sea
basin. From there I sailed to Cape basin, then North towards Seville. The wreck was in the Grain Coast half way
between Pernambuco and Sierra Leone. It was a Ghost Wreck which I have never
seen before. On a Ghost Wreck, you
cannot open the chests until you have defeated the 3NPC Ghost Pirates. I can't
remember exactly ,but they are around 53,43,31?? level. Once you defeat them, you can unlock all the
chests. In addition, they have "lost ghost sailors" that randomly
appear on board. This lasts for about 3 minutes or so. During that time, if you
click on them they also give you either an item, goods, adventure xp or
gold. Nice!! After the 3 minutes or so,
the ship is quiet or they kick you off.
In the 3 minutes or so, you should be able to click on about 15 of them.
---------------
More adventure quests, shipwrecks and
another EA run.
------------
On the way from Suez to Calicut to do
more quests, I stopped in Massawa and had my alt work on his metal trade. He is geared up to be R6+8. I used a skill
booster again and some PO'4s and I got his metal trade to R8.
-------------
End of day 98 shipwrecks, passed 1700 discoveries!
August 31, Day 319
I will be out for the next 3-4 days. The
best I can do is probably log on from my labtop and do some collecting and
investing in North American Railways.
=========
Sept 1-2-3, Day 320-321-322
I was out of town. Not much to report.
=========
Sept 4th, Day 323.
I am back in business. I leave North
America after investing and collecting and continue with my adventure quests.
------------
I do three laps around the world doing
quests and shipwrecks. Each trip I pick up a load of EA goods and set them in a
Bazaar in Seville as well as a second bazaar selling "Scurvy's Junk"
for 1 coin each.
---------
End of day 105 shipwrecks, 1720
discoveries.
Sept 5th, Day 324
Out half of the day.
More adventure quests and shipwrecks.
Not much of note except that on one wreck I picked up a Large Storm sail. Nice!
-----------
End of day 109 shipwrecks, 1730
discoveries.
========
Sept 6th, Day 325.
More adventure quests and shipwrecks. I
did not get much done today, but that is because I am stuck on Shipwreck #111.
It has no land markings. I did two loops around the world and brought EA goods
back to europe twice. ONce I went the Northern routed from Japan to San
Francisco. The other time I went from Japan around the South of South America
and back up the East coast of SA to Seville.... Nothing.
---------
End of Day 110 shipwrecks, 1740
discoveries.
Sept 7th, Day 326
Still looking for wreck #111. I
discovered Volcanic Clastic Materials
(Natural Phenomenon) in Java North
Coast landing area while doing a quest. I continue to do quests going to remote
areas hoping to get a message "a shipwreck has sunk in nearby
waters." Today Seville to Cape, Cape to Pinjara, Pinjara to Jakarta to get
new quests.. Jakarta to Pinjara, Pinjara to Hobart/Wangui... Nothing! Wangui/South Pacific to the Beaufort sea...
Beaufort sea to the Baffin Bay.. Baffin Bay to the Barrents Sea East...!
Discovered Fallstreak Hole (Natural Phenomenon) in Bering Sea East at
8550:1740.
I finally found the wreck in Baffin Bay.
Nice!
------------
A few advanced notes on shipwrecking.
1)The grid of the shipwreck map is very close to 600 x 600 on the survey grid and the map
pretty much matches the map shown when you bring it up. If you are using the
MTC map, this pretty much eliminates the Barrents sea and Chukchi Sea area as a
possible locations of a wreck with no land markers. 2) The notice the shipwreck is nearby is
given in an area 50 x 50 and the wreck is right in the centre of that notice. So if you are searching solo and using a grid
pattern in the sea zone, (starting at the South West corner of the sea zone)
you can sail in one direction say from South to North till you hit the north
sea zone edge, then sail East by 45 points on your survey grid then sail South
till you hit the south sea zone edge, turn east and sail another 45 points,
then sail North again to continue the pattern. 3) Once you hit the notice, "You are near
the shipwreck" slow down to minimum speed until you no longer get that
notice. Take note of the co-ordinates.
Turn around and sail back 25 points, the wreck will be to port or
starboard and within 25 points. 4) the message "the shipwreck you are
searching for seems to be in nearby waters" does not guarantee that the wreck
is in an adjacent sea zone. I got the message in Madagascar and Southwest
Indian Ocean and the wreck was in Agulhas. (separated by Mozambique sea zone)
Mozambique sea zone gives the same message.
-----------
NPC pirates have can be right on a
wreck. I raised a wreck right under 3 Namib bandits today.
------------
Last funny note, if your ship hits 0
durability while towing a wreck, you lose the wreck, and it sinks where you hit
0 durability. When you re-raise the wreck, you get no salvage skill xp so you
can't grind salvage by wrecking your own ship. They also can get stuck on a
reef, will test on an easy wreck to verify
--------
End of day, not much done, 112
shipwrecks.
Sept 8th, Day 327
last full day for more wrecks and
adventure quests. Tomorrow I will prep for NA festival and land battles.
--------
I had to go out and did not get much
done besides some shipwrecks.
-------
End of day 116 shipwrecks, 1750
discoveries.
========
Sept 9th, Day 328
I helped a few company members get
prepared for the NA festival by helping get storage R15 and organized.
----------
The rest of the day I did more
shipwrecks and one round of EA goods.
---------
I have prepared my gear and am end the
day in Boston, ready for the festival.
=========
Sept 10th, Day 329
Thanksgiving festival started at
8pm. I did my collections and about 250
land battles for the XP bonus.
------
End of day 124 Shipwrecks, 1756
discoveries.
Sept 11th, Day 330
More land battles for my main. My alt is
going for 1 trade level per day (roughly 500k trade xp per day).
-----------
I complete another 400 land battles over
the day and am very close to leveling my adventure. One more day will do it.
=========
Sept 12th. Day 331
After doing my required 1hour of
collecting, I have only 36k adventure xp left to make level 84. I plan to do 360 more land battles and
level. The only other thing of note in
my plans is that I since I have been doing shipwrecks, I have collected 120
sets of master smithy tools and will consider picking up my TeraAmina in Istanbul
from my quarters manequin and doing land battles with it to increase the forte
on the weapon. I will also mostl likely pick up another Guerilla Job card since
I am close bye and don;'t want to spend the 50M to switch jobs to it. The sole reason for being in the Guerilla is
to skill swordplay and sword mastery; especially sword mastery since it is
currently R6 and will get a boost from the Papaya skill bonus.
-------------
End of day I do another 400 land battles
and level adventure. I make Collection R15.
84/85/79
Sept 13th, Day 332
My bad. Guerilla does not favor sword
mastery. I will have to switch to a
maritime job to work that. My top
priority used to be adventure xp, but now that I am Adventure level 84, it is
not so critical. The last level will
come with more adventure quests and shipwrecks. Today I will switch to
swordmaster and make sure I skill up Sword mastery to R8.
-----------
There are 25 more days to go for the 1
year anniversary and I do not think I can make 85/85/85 but 84/85/85 is
definitely doable.
-----------
by the end of the last day of the
festival, I completed 1200 land battles and made swordmastery R7. I also made
R15 collection.
==========
Sept 14th, Day 333
I finish in Boston, all of my aides are
now at a minimum Trade level 44. I have completed 184 Boston Thesis and my alt
has 242 Theses completed and he made 1.4M xp in the 4 days and ended at level
84 trade. The Boston academic
Association is now 14,100/20,000. At 20k, I think building #3 is unlocked.
-------------
I change to swordfighter and do 100 more
land battles and grind Swordmastery to R8.
------------
Sail back to London and take the Swordmaster job.
------------
Refit with my gear and make R8 Firearms
Trade.
Sept 15th, Day 334
I switch focus to my alt's trade skills.
I get him to R8 in perfume trading and R8 Luxury trading. I also get my own Accounts skill to R6.
Accounts is a really hard thing to work on as the skill is based on successful
haggling at the market and you can only make a few haggles per port. Even after
using items and all of my re-negotiation demands, the best I got with one
series of haggles was six in a row. (not all at one go, but If I made a
successful haggle, I bought a small amount of goods and then tried to haggle
again.)
Tips on accounts... be in a national
port and use Hanseatic seals.
-----------
Back to some adventures and raising
wrecks. Can a wreck be carriaged/railed from San Francisco to Boston? Yes. I also think that the items you get from a
wreck are based on where you open the wreck.
I picked up wreck #130 in Kamchatka, East Asia and then towed the ship
to SF-> Boston where I searched the wreck.
The items I got were pioneer items (North America Items.)
-----------
I spend some time collecting berries to
make Poupelin trees for today's company contribution. I spend the time planning my final maritime
ship modifications and ship skills. The goal is to spend the last few days of the
skill boost, which ends on Sept 19th in 4 days, working on the few sub 8 skills
I have left. Surgery R7, Arms R6, and Ballistics R5.
------
I also changed to priest, popped a fame
and skill booster and reported over 300 discoveries to the proper people in
London/Amsterdam. I made sociability R8
Sept 16th, Day 335
A day to make my final Maritime ship a "Victory."
I build it in Plymouth, and sail to the company colony to grade it to G3. It
costs me about 600M to complete the grading.
The two skills that I put on the ship
are Durability Improvement and Increased cabin capacity. Ship upgrades are not
so complicated anymore, and you can always add another modification to maximize
your ship's stats. I get the first few modifications done to my ship and get
the ship handling proficiency up at the colony.
Tomorrow I will continue the modifications and raise wrecks/adventure
while the ship is being modified.
=========
Sept 17th, Day 336
More Mods on my maritime ship and
Adventure quests and shipwrecks while I wait.
----------
I make Rank 21 in Istanbul,
"District Governor" (Rank 19 was Supreme Commander and Rank 20 was
"Inspector". It must be from
all the investing in random towns to grind up my sociability skill.
-----------
At the end of the day I have made 7
upgrades to my ship.
1777 discoveries, 143 Shipwrecks.
Sept 18th, Day 337
Last full day of the skill boost. My
ship is not totally done, but good enough to use for battle reports in the
Black sea. I will be working on Tactics, Surgery and Arms. Oddly I will be in
the Steam Engineer job until my Arms hits R8, as it is the only job, besides Grand Admiral that has Arms as a
preferred skill.
---------
Two more upgrades to my new Maritime
ship. It is a G3 Victory; The stats
(without sails/and plates) 322V, 422H 1449 Durability, 25 Turn, 28 Wave
resistance, 53 Armor. 234 Crew, 104
Cannon Chambers, 266 Cargo Hold. Bullet Proof ARmor and Improved Gun port for
ship skills.
As this is a non cash ship, it requires
levels 44A, 31T and 79 Maritime to sail.
It is really sad to say that this ship,
which may have been a top ship during the OGP days, is really a mediocre ship
at best. This ship will do the job vs.
any NPCs, but in this age of Papaya's over modifications, this ship will get
totally owned in a Player vs. Player battle.
When I was sitting outside Seville and Lisbon waiting for my ship to be
completed, I looked at some of the other ships with 20+ mods ie. G6, with 25
upgrades, compared to my G3 with 8 upgrades.
Some ships had 330+ crew and 125 Armor! 30+ turn and 30+ wave
resistance. Absolutely amazing.
-------
I end the day starting off a Battle
report in the Black Sea. The main goal is not the xp from the report, but to
skill up my last 3 skills. I have no cannons, and am just going into melee
right away in every battle. I work Arms
to R7, and Tactics to R6. It is hard to
work Surgery as it is not preferred and I only get to work it at the end of a
melee.
Sept 19th, Day 338
I complete my battle report and keep
working on Tactics and Melee. I almost make R8 Tactics, but stop at 4300/4900
just prior to the update, I report the quest and switch to work accounts for 15
minutes. With gear on, I am 6+4 in Accounts. I surprise myself and am unable to
use up my last 40 re-negotiation demands (found on shipwrecks) in the 15
minutes. My success rate via haggling is pretty good and so I am still working
on accounts when the update boots me off the server.
-----------
End of day I level Maritime to 80, and
make R7 Tactics.
84/85/80
Sept 20th, Day 339
I am going to slow down as there is no
pressure to get anything done in a hurry
---------
The next update will end the
shipbuilding bonus, but I have completed making all 3 of my endgame ships so
there is no rush there either.
---------
I finally have the plot on my farm set
to make hemp. I make the trip to my farm island with pure iron sheets, hemp and
suede. I make 15 sets of improved salvage rope, and go back to Athens to take the Salvager Job. What is nice about the salvager job is that
it favors unlock as well as salvage. Now when I unlock the chests on each wreck
about half of them (the locked ones) I get to work my unlock skill.
--------
A company mate Diogo, helped me with
some questions about shipwrecks and now they are even easier. The key question
being is every wreck unique or is there a limited number that repeat. The answer is that wrecks are not
unique. Essentially what it means is
that if I get a 8* wreck that is 28 pieces and no land, it will not be in a random
sea zone. It will be in Baffin Bay for sure as there is only one no land, 8*,28
map piece wreck. It cannot randomly show up in the South Indian Ocean.
Sep 21, Day 340
A few more wrecks and adventure quests.
I am working in slow motion compared to the boost time. It is a good time to
work on language only filler quests.
-----------
End of day 160 Shipwrecks, 1780
discoveries, Unlock R11 and Geography
R11.
===========
Sept 22, day 341
Was out all day at a conference. Not
much done.
==========
Sept 23, Day 342
Back to Shipwrecks and Adventure quests.
It is a long steady grind. I figure in another two weeks I will make level 85.
===========
Sept 24th, Day 343
It is the random EA good in San
Francisco day. The good is Yangzhou Chestnuts. It is not the best good, but they
do sell well in North Africa. (Algeris, Tunis, Alexandria etc.)
I spend the whole day just with my alt
in San Francisco and myself shuttling goods to an aide bazaar in Boston. My alt
starts out with R11+6. I find out my alt's aide has food trading in the
afternoon and go from R11+7 to R13+7 (+2 refined+2 college+2 Garnet Brooch, +1
Aide = +7)
----------
I make about 500M selling chestnuts
today.
Sept 25th, Day 344
I am out most of the day. I get a few
quests done and a few more wrecks.
------
While doing a quest in Japan, I
discovered "Thick Fog" Natrural Phenomenon
End of day 175 Shipwrecks, 1790
Discoveries
===========
Sept 26th, Day 345
I spent most of the day working on my
mineral and wares trading skill in Hamburg. I was out most of the day. What I did do was fleet a couple of company
members and set up my aide bazaar again to hold minerals, graphite and coal at
Hamburg. They worked their casting and
management skills and I got my refined mineral trade back to R11++.
----------
End of day I only did 1 shipwreck but
managed to make my 1800th discovery.
=========
Sept 27th, Day 346
Today I started a full time job
again....
This means that my time playing UWO will
be restricted to 1-2 hours max per day in the evenings. No more 10 discoveries and 5 shipwrecks per
day. I will be lucky if I get 3 total done per day. I will still be collecting in NA every day to
get my free (railroad invested) xp.
-------------
In any case, I will report on my 1 year
skills and from then on, probably only post once per week as I did on OGP.
-------------
End of day, 180 Shipwrecks, 1800
discoveries.
Sept 28th, Day 347
One quest, one shipwreck, collected in
NA. Not much to report.
========
Sept 29th, Day 348
One weird shipwreck today. In Gulf of
Mexico, S. Caribbean. I spent a good part of the day helping two
company mates work on handicrafts and sewing.
I set up aide bazaars at Oslo and keep it stocked with leather (for
leather goods Handi R7, Stone and Lumber for stone sculptures, Handi R10 and
wool/flax for sewing. R3-R10 Sewing) For textiles, I used my refined textiles
trade skill "Fiber order", but for the Wares, I used PO 2's. I got my
Wares trade less than 1000 skill from R14.
I will have to help a few more players out before that gets
refined. Once it does, I will be able to
do a huge push in Alchemy skills.
