Ran the Atlantis dungeon 7,8,4 floors again then had to stop to go out IRL. 3 more Treasure rooms, and 2 more puzzle rooms. Still no recipe room.
----------
When I got back I grouped up with Cap.n'Rapscallion, DeadQueen and Windstalker. We did 20 levels in a row and came to recipe rooms three times!I finally made my Terra Amina, one normal and one Great Success. 100a, 27d. Nice. They also told me that I should have the Deepseeker title on, which is permanently available after completing 10 levels.I have a hardcopy printout of "GuybrushThreewind A Mighy Voyager!"'s guide to Atlantis from my OGP days and reviewed it before going, but I skipped this part and mixed up the titles in my head for Deepseeker and Relic hunter which requires 500 points of Ruin Exploration.I switched to my Terra Anima right away and started using it. Somewhere in the last 10 levels, I picked up the Triple Strike tech for staffs (Tech #69). Thanks to that group of 3.I ended up giving the last 30 sheets of pure iron to Cap (in Europe) so he could make his own club.
---------
Back in Europe, I was running short on cash so I decided to take a liner to EA and take some raisins out of product storage and make wine. I traded for Tan Rifles and Saori and sailed back to Europe.I need cash more than xp or trade fame so I put it all up in aide bazaars.
-------
At the end of the day I sailed to North America to invest in Railroads and collect berries to store in my quarters. I will set my aide to start making raisins again, even though I still have over 3000 raisins in product storage.
I was out most of the day. When I got back I did a bit of fishing to re-stock my Tuna Steaks. I made R16+1 (max) fishing while in the fisher job. My plan is to finish two of the memorial albums and get a+2 craft trade (Jet brooch/Ottoman Specialty goods) and a +2 Seasoning Trade item(Cat's-eye brooch/West med Specialty goods) and the reward from Mercator for charting SA West +2 Craft /worn,. With those, I will start working on my Alt's Seasoning Trading and Craft trading. My alt has 9 Trading skills that I do not, and some of them are required to make high level Furniture and Hulls.
---------
I did complete the two memorial albums, but one of the items is a reward in India. While I was looking for more + Trade items in the company shops in London, I stumbled across an Official 3 deck Hull for 15m. I could not pass it up, as it takes a normal 3 deck hull, a heavily armored sterncastleand 6 improved steel sheets to make. The sterncastle alone cost about 50m, as it is a plunder item not easily obtained. The Official hull should have cost 100-150m. One of my mid term plans is to build a first class vai sseau and level to 79 Maritime. I found out that I could not build the first class Vaisseauin London as I am still at "distrust" in my relations to them. Then I sailed to Seville and I also could NOT build the ship there either. It turns out that I have only invested 1.2m in Seville and I need about 5M. At the end, of my 7 nations defection, I plan on returning to Spain (for location) and topping up my investments in Seville and Bilabo, which I missed on the first round. Next I sailed to Lisbon, the ship shows up as a possible build at the shipyard. So I decide to plan out this build. I am planning on putting on "Attack Prevention net" as the ship's skill. Because I cannot find any Admiral's cabins for sale in Seville, needed for this ship skill, I decide to make them myself. It is not a hard recipe, but you have to get fine furniture, wax and processed lumber and make them in Aden. Since you need trade goods to make the recipe, it requires you to sail around Africa.Luckily, I have 4 crystal blessings from my adventures in Atlantis. The blessings allow you to use one of several different powers. The power I choose for my first blessing is "Poseidon's blessing" which allows you to travel thru a canal for one hour with up to 1000 trade goods on board. With the wax from Athens, and fine furniture I made, I sail thru the Suez and make the Admiral's cabins in Aden. The blessing saves me a good 70-80 minutes of sailing. Nice!
A good day to make a First Class Vaisseau.I first sailed to NA Newfoundland to collect berries for quarters production. Short trip to the company colony to upgrade the ship's Ship Handling proficiency at the arsenal and then Grade the ship to G1 and put on an armor improvement which adds +10 to armor. The ship will have a base armor of 52 when I am done which is the best I have ever had. With 3x13 plates, that will make it a 91 armor. The final ship is G1 3/5, 210V, 299H, 17Turn, 11 Wave Resistance, 52armor, 1219 Durability with attack prevention net as the ship skill. 202 Crew, 104 Cannon Chambers and 326 Cargo. This is not my final maritime ship, so its G1. It just has to get me to maritime level 79.
--------------
The rest of the day I work on making Carronade 18's. I will stockpile 18 of them, so I can do multiple BR's before I have to stop.
Completed my first BR of this series. I went to India to complete an adventure quest and stayed to do a BR. My goal is to do one BR per day until my Carronades all bust.
==========
May 5th, Day 201
Another 2 BR, I in the Black Sea.I am about 90% vs 3ship fleets; Sinop Fleet or Black Sea cruiser fleets, and about 66% success vs the 4 fleets. The most common unlucky situations for me are 1) being shot and going into disorder, just before being meleed and 2) being critted just after defeating a ship and coming out of melee. It helps a ton to have 80+ armor while I am in melee with a ship. I can withstand being shot multiple times in melee without being sunk. My armor and guns are really taking a beating. I have already gone thru 4 armor plates, 8 carronades, and 800 MCCT.I have also done 12, College theses (+31,000 credits) in these two days. The thesis Theme is "Division of Labor in Pirating Crews".Completion gives 2600 credits and requires 250 pages. For a person who is skilled at land battles/deck battles, this is the quickest way to get a lot of college credits. Every fight with a 3 fleet gives 5 points per ship sunk and 25 points for winning a deck battle. This usually results in 35 points per fleet battle for me. After 30 ships, I usually have one thesis completed.
I cannot beat the formidable enemy (Roaming Pirates) when he shows up with 2 ships. The cannon damage is just too much. Even with 88 armor, the two ships do 600+ damage each round of shots. My ship only has 1219 durabiltiy and so is destroyed in two shots unless I can manage to melee the admiral.
---------
I finally beat the two roaming pirates. Instead of turning into the NPC to try to melee one of them, I sailed away from them towards the edge. The program for the NPC logic is somehow flawed and one of the pirates kept sailing straight (not towards me). This separated the two ships and I was able to repair the damage from one until we engaged in melee. The other pirate was far off enough to give me time to wear down the first ship before he got his free shots at me. My record with them is 1/5 (20%) success.
----------
I started and completed another BR in the Black sea and started fooling around with the formidable enemies when there were two of them. Instead of sailing at one of them to try and get them into melee as fast as I could, I tried sailing directly away from them. The two NPC seem to be confused and did not turn to follow. They instead continued to sail straight on their starting lines. At the very edge of the ring, I slowed down and turned. The admiral of the enemy fleet did not bounce/stop at the edge but somehow managed to leave the ring.I was awarded 2xp and a victory. Really?! That is a first. To check this, I went to port and set sail again and found that the message "you have caught the attention of a formidable enemy" no longer showed up. Weird.
I am getting low on funds and so I started the day taking the company liners to East Asia.I pulled another 1700 raisins from product storage and converted it into wine and traded in Nagasaki and Sakai. After sailing back to Europe, I spent the second half of the day making more Carronade 18's.Made 21 sets of Carronade 18's and 4 new plates. The carronades should be good enough for another 4 battle reports.
----------
Evening is another BR in the Black Sea, working on cannon skills.I have decided to rotate between Cannoneer, Sr. Officer and Pirate to work up my skills. My maritime skills are 9-11 and the ones that are 10+ won't improve unless I am in a job that favours them.
---------
End of day I make level 72 maritime, Reloading R10.
Still more BR in Black Sea. I found out why the official 3deck hulls are so cheap. They are part of the Millionaire's mysterious bonanza box. +20+28 -1 sails are also in that box, so I see quite a few popping up for 5M, aboutt 1/3 of what they are worth.
England is back to Normal status. Only Spain remains at distrust.
Two more BR in the Black Sea. Not much to see here, other than my Gunnery Skills made R11.Ended the day in North America, replenishing my MCCTs and salted fish nuts.
Made Maritime Level 73.
75/80/73
==========
May 11, Day 207
last BR for a while. Roaming pirate #2, can't turn in time and exits the combat ring, leaving me with just vs. the Admiral. # of thesis Submitted 376.The one I have been using is Division of labour in pirating crews. If I deck battle, I can submit eight or so per Battle report, four if I go just with ship skinking/cannoneering. They are worth 2600 pages each so I hit the 60,000 page cap quite quickly.I did so many deck battles, my King Richard's armor finally hit 0/250 and broke.
---------
A company mateasked about sailing xp 2 trips at 5 days vs 1 trip at 10 days. I will do a study and see if I can come up with a formula.
----------
Went to SEA which is safe waters to do 4 charts. I am close to level 76 and would like to level before the next North American festival.I discovered "Aurora" (natural phenomenon, sorry I forgot to record the exact co-ords) while charting in North Hobart
----------
End of day I passed 1150 discoveries and236/289 areas charted
Working on more adventure quests and charts, as I am very close to leveling adventure.
Before dinner I passed 1160 discoveries and leveled Adventure. In the evening I went back to doing Battle reports in the Black Sea.
---------

===========
May 13, day 209
Completed Black Sea BR #9 in 9 days. Made accuracy R11. Sailed to Lisbon to help a company mate make Portuguese Military Panel. I then swapped to cartographer and went to chart North and South Greenland. I used a +50% booster after i completed the first chart and just before I reported it and started charting the second area. With the +10% from adventure ship refit and +50% booster, the two charts were 9700 and 9808 xp. There is a natural phenomenon just to the left of Iceland, but I was not able to get it. The sea zone surrounds the island so I had to sail around it and try to find it, but it only appears briefly before disappearing. I ran out of water and had to sail back to London to get the next set of areas of the NW passage. Mercator added 9 more area to chart. On my way back to chart more of the North West passage,I waited about 20 minutes for the natural phenomenon West of Iceland to appear again. It is called "Dirty Thunderstorm" 14670:1420 and looks like a volcano is going off on the island.
Helped a new company member Brann work on his Advanced maritime school.
Completed a BR in the Black sea, then in the evening went to NA SE for the festival. It started at 8pm PST for some reason, instead of 10pm. I did about 200 land battles as well as collecting. Unfortunately I lent my 2nd traveller's food procuring book to another company mate who forgot to return it before logging off.
=====
May 15th, Day 211
Contribution day.Thanksgiving festival continues. GM bingo in Atlantis is on today.
I will do my usual collect berries, go fill my quarters, come back to NA. Do at least 300 land battles.Work on Terra Amina forte points. My reports are becoming a little boring as I get up in levels and skills, there is much more grinding and less to report.
The grind continues.
-----------
Finally relations with all European countries has returned to "normal" status.
------
End of day, another 300 land battles completed. Terra Amina Forte 320, but the weapon is down to 17 durability, ugh.
There is now a +50% bonus on for XP, Skill, Fame and finesse point acquisition. I change from completing battles in 20 seconds using traps to about 60 seconds to gain finesse points instead. I need spears, soI go back to Europe and make 6 flamberges.I fight in North America without any gear on, but I have to use a weapon and my weapons take a real beating. My normal Terra Amina went from 80 durability to 17 in maybe 2hours of fighting so I stopped using it and switched to spears.
I get my spear finesse points to Power(19) Quick (14) Feint (16) which is high enough to obtain level 3 spear techs if I ever run into the right NPC. I switched to yatagan (throwing dagger) once I reached these finesse points and obtained New Swift Throw (Tech #69 or 70 I think.)
In addition to the server buffs, the update Chapter 3.5 of the age of Revolution has added 77 new discovery quests. Many of them are R17 quests! There is also a discovery race on for the period May 16th until Jun 12th (I assume the next update)
The competition is for the number of new discoveries you can make in this time.
----------
More land battles. I busted my Yatagan and went back to spears (Halberds) that I brought with me. When my Yatagan busted, my Throwing dagger finesse points stood at Power (22), Quick (17), Feint (12). End of day, I complete another 300+ land battles and level Adventure.
For some reason the North American Thanksgiving festival is still on. I wanted to go back to the Black Sea and level maritime, but I have to stay in NA until either the festival ends or I bust all of my halberds. Today I broke 3 of them!I obtained Tech #71 Wild Thrust (R3 Spear Quick tech) from the Thief 37 in North America SE. I would say to obtain this tech, the key is patience and healing medications. The Thief 37 uses a spear and also has " Oberschnitt" R3 spear tech.
-------
End of day, I completed another 500+ land battles.
Did a few more land battles past midnight and obtained Tech #72 Oberschnitt (R3 Spear Power Tech) My method for getting the techs originally was to just stand around and get hit/use medications to heal while waiting for the NPC to use the tech, then try to kill him as fast as possible. If you attack with your weapon, I don't think you can stop your toon from attacking, so the NPC eventually dies. After not killing the npc fast enough 5-6 times, I finally figured out If you use a tech, that is all they do (some damage and then they stop.) I was able to use 2-3 tech hits to damage the npc to just above half health. If you do more than that, they use medication and heal themselves. After I used this trick, I got the tech on the next try.
------------
I don't know why but NA festival bonuses are still on, so I stayed until my second last halberd busted. With only one weapon (my alt has no weapon), I can't chain techs as easily so I decided to go back to NA and fill my quarters with berries and make new weapons.
-----------
obtained tech #73 Axe Big Drop Down feint AxeR2
---------
Took a break and switched to grinding storage skill. I processed 10,000 clicks worth of berries->lime juice, exotic fruit->allspice and fish+berries->salted fish with nuts. Remember every great success gives 101 trade xp during the festival, and my great success rate with College skill 3 and 4 active is around 20%. I made Trade level 81 and completed Storage R15+2 refined.
NA festival is still on. More collecting and land battles. Obtained Tech #74?, Triple swing (Axe quick tech R2) Tech #75? Strike Down (Axe Power tech R2). Festival bonus ended around 7pm, so I sailed back to Europe with a load of berries to fill the quarters with. I lost track of what tech I am on and should do a check next time.
----------
I started another Battle Report. I would like to do some adventuring, but I have to use up a few cannons to open slots for archive maps.
I completed the last battle report and made Maritime level 75. I also discovered a new natural phenomenon in the Black Sea called "Will-o'-the-wisp" It looks like a green light circling above the water at 1390:3060.
-------------
Started the day with 1167 Discoveries. We will see how many I can discover before the race ends.
------------
I have the advantage of being able to activate "hide completed quests" and "hide discovered maps" as two of my college skills. It requires base R11 search/recognition or Ecological research. Took a long cruise around the world thru the Suez Canal, to Aden, then Calicut, then Jakarta .. Tamsui and Hangzhou.. back to Jakarta with EA goods then more quests going to Hawaii and North America. Trained it from San Fran to Boston, and did my collections in NA East coast. Phew! Questsand archive maps all the way.
----------
On my first pass from Calicut to Jakarta, I stopped in Sumatra South west landing area and did about 20+ land battles. I tried to acquire the sword R3 techs, but even though I was able to kill the NPC within 5 seconds of him using it, I was still not able to acquire the tech.I did not want to spend too much time trying for the techs so I moved on.
----------
End of day passed 1193 discoveries. Made Archeology R10.
So early on I was taking a new quest going from Alexandria to Lima Peru(it was not in the ivyro page otherwise I might have caught the problem before I started) , called "Green Egg."It turns out the quest is impossible to complete as the development in Lima is 49k and there is no scholar there to talk to. I scanned the "all chat" and found [CA] Alianore, whom I mentioned this to. I also put it in the forums under Bugs. It won't help (myself) if I complain, It will help others if I post it and notify a [CA], so there you go.
-----------
I made Appraisal R10 and ended the day with 1215 discoveries.
While doing quests in EA, I passed Antimatter, a player who was way way ahead early on in levels during the opening race. I checked him out and he is already 85/85/85!! Nice. I wonder what kind of life you have if you are there already.
-------
I picked up a load of EA goods while in EA and another quest going to Australia on my way to North America. Discovered "Morning Glory" (natural phenomenon) 6622:5775 while charting Arufa Sea.
----------
End of day 245 areas charted, 1237 discoveries made. Will make level 78 Adventure tomorrow for sure.
Helped a company mate SB, by fleeting and just sitting at the shipyard while I went out for the morning. Was out most of the day so I only finished a few quests, but I managed to make Adventure level 78!
---------
End of day made 1246 discoveries
78/81/74
============
May 26th, Day 222
Mostly adventure quests all day. I only stopped once to help a company mate grind his casting skill. I set up an aide bazaar in Hamburg with 6000 minerals and 2000 coal, then continued on my adventures.
More Adventure quests. Discovered Chichen itza. There is something weird going on with this quest chain. The first quest in the chain is called "isolated imperial city" and is supposed to be (from the Ivyro page) Recognition R8, Caution, R10 and Sociability R10. The quest shows up as Caution R1, Sociability R1, and Caution R1?!?. My Sociability is R6 and was able to complete the quest. If I remember correctly from my OGP days, this was the only quest needing a high sociability/caution and I had to equip gear to make it show up.
---------------
Did 10 land battles in South Vera Cruz
fighting a specific NPC to get Sword Unterhau or Wild Slash tech R3's. I was not able to get the techs despite killing the NPC right after he used the tech. I expect its luck and will either have to grind it out or get the improve technique acquisition
-----------
As part of one of the quests, I had to visit the Medici Palace and while I was there, I clicked on the NPC Lorenzo Medici, one more time as I usually do during quests to make sure he got all the info I ended up clicking 4 more times, and each time I was granted all of the recipes available by the Medici for the different areas of Oxford, North America, Florence, and Paris. I checked out all of the recipes, of which there are a lot that I have not seen before. One in particular caught my eye.I have never seen a recipe for Superior Full rigged sail. Was not expecting it to be a great sail, because the components were just lumber/iron and hemp. It turns out it is just a Main Full rigged sail.
Why call it a Superior Full when it is the same stats as a Main Full?
-----------
End of day 1275 discoveries, 249/297 areas charted.
224 days in and I finally have a quest that makes me enter Caligari. I discovered Caligari today! One of the things that I have not talked about before is the use of tow permits. It is a very large part of me being able to do adventure quests without much attention to the computer. Currently East Asia and the Caribbean are safe waters and I use tow permits to sail in these areas as well as the Med. At the end of the NA festival where there is a bonus of +14 tow permits per day (24 total) I was able to get both my main and alt to the max of 200 tow permits.Almost every chance I get I use tow permits to auto sail any short distance while I am able to do other real life work. Once I finish my work, I check UWO and am usually at port in the city I want to get to ... talk to the next person on the quest and then auto sail to the next port. Because my toons are fleeted, I set one to auto sail and the other to just follow. This makes it very easy to accomplish a quest with only attention when I am at a city or landing port. I highly recommend the use of tow permits for any serious adventurer.
--------------
End of day 251/298 areas charted, 1287 Discoveries.
Discovered Black smoker (natural phenomenon) 13734, 4405 while doing quests from Rio de Janero and the Caribbean. I am pretty tired of doing adventure quests. Tomorrow is the last day for adventure. The race will end at the system update at 2pm server time. I picked up the Artist Job card. It requires Search R11, Art R13 and Handicrafts R8. My art is only R9, but I do have Scholar Aid 2 active as a college skill and am equipped with a Babylonian Harp +2 Art.
A few more quests in the morning. Picked up the Gurellia Job card. I stopped a bit early to help another company mate grind casting. When the update happened, I was at 1309 discoveries.
------------------
I spent a few hours, collecting lumber/logs in NA, then making sails to be split between company members and my aide bazaar. (I am a bit low on money and have to make/sell stuff.)The rest of the day I spent helping other company members grind their casting skills at Hamburg. My mineral trade skill is slowly grinding thru R13.
Papaya has extended the XP and Skill bonus to June 28th, due to a "fame" issue. The bonus was supposed to be XP, Skill and Fame 50% bonus, but the Fame bonus wasnot working for the first 15 days, so they extended the bonus another 15 days essentially.
-----------------
Time for a Battle report. While doing the battle report, I will refill my college credits by doing deck battle theses. I have used up 18k credits in the last two weeks swapping between field studies(while I collect in NA), Hide discovered maps while doing adventures and the odd Search aid , when my search skills were not high enough to complete a quest.
--------------
End of day, completed 1.5 battle reports and 8 college theses on division of labour in pirating crews. (over 20k college credits earned, and capped again at 60k)
I finished my second Battle report in India and took the liner back to Lisbon. The cultural preference and liner from Lisbon to Calicut will be active for two more days. I will try to take advantage of it while India is safe waters and return for more battle reports.
A day for reorganizing my items, aides, equipment and consumables. I have to refill my calming flags, perception of artisan, landmark ribbons, lifesavers ... I have used a lot of them in the last 2 weeks without restocking. I also go to Boston to invest in the railways and collect more berries for both my main and alt's quarters.I have about 5000 raisins (alt/main combined) in my quarters storage.
------------
I unlocked Trade 70+ for my alt. Interestingly to unlock it, if you give the craftsman saori, it does not unlock trade 70+. Iused a piece of lumber as recommended in the Gangsta guide and it worked.
------------
I checked and found that I made #22 place on the discovery race with 139 discoveries. (the ports don't count) The director of my alt's company TerraNova, (named Morronguilla)made 21st place with 143 discoveries. Congrats to him. First place was 391, 10th place was 193 discoveries. https://uwo.papayaplay.com/uwo.do?tp=news.view&postid=1733
EA goods in San Francisco today. It is Huzhou brushes this time.I do not have any jobs with crafts trade as a preferred skill so I decide to get the Artisan job. It requires Surgeon's secret elixir. The components are from Basra, Amsterdam and Istanbul.Luckily I still have some "Blessing of Posideon" and can take trade goods thru the Suez Canal, then camel ride to Basra and make the elixirs there. Nice! Caribbean and North America East coast was safe waters until about 9am, which was nice for the players who did all the trading last night. This morning PO3's are 1M+ each and the pirates are out around Boston now.The pirates are especially heavy today as there is a notoriety race on for pirates for the 15 days after this last update.
------------
I do a little bit of crafts grinding with my alt, but not much. The plan is, by the next EA goods appearance in San Fran, to work on crafts trade and to invest in the railroad so that I open up NA SE coast as a rail stop and NA E. Coast (500m investment.) That way I can sail into Boston, train to SF. Buy goods, Train to NA E. or NA SE and sail from there. The pirates will block Boston, but not the landing sites.
-----------
I sold some PO3's in an aide bazaar and then run Bordeaux 20 times to restock some PO's I am at 350pts for ruin exploration.150 more before I get the title of Relic Hunter.
I completed a battle report in India and made Maritime level 76.
Completed another Battle report in India. Made Reload R11, and Penetration R11. Safe waters finished this morning at 3am. Indian cultural trends in Lisbon ended so there is no Liner back to Lisbon.
-----------
I spent some time away from the game just thinking about alchemy and what to grind for high level alchemy. I settle on headache Meds.It is a high level Alchemy recipe that I can process for the bonus xp. Nobody ever sells this stuff as it is way more valuable than the 1m cap on consumables. It is not an easy recipe. It takes a ton of materials, and a lot (up to 10 recipes) just to make 1.I plan to collect and make 1000's of Ventus reduction, an Alchemy R3 recipe. Once I have the reductions, I will switch to the Alchemy job and process them all with the R10 recipe.
I expect to get around 300 headache meds per 1000 Ventus, as a fail will make nothing and possibly damage my kiln.A normal success will produce a "sober", or a "strange powder." Only a great success will produce a headache medicine.

May 1st, Day 197
Ran the Atlantis dungeon 7,8,4 floors
again then had to stop to go out IRL. 3 more Treasure rooms, and 2 more puzzle
rooms. Still no recipe room.
----------
When I got back I grouped up with
Cap.n'Rapscallion, DeadQueen and Windstalker. We did 20 levels in a row and
came to recipe rooms three times! I finally made my Terra Amina, one normal
and one Great Success. 100a, 27d. Nice.
They also told me that I should have the Deepseeker title on, which is
permanently available after completing 10 levels. I have a hardcopy printout of
"GuybrushThreewind A Mighy Voyager!"'s guide to Atlantis from my OGP
days and reviewed it before going, but I skipped this part and mixed up the
titles in my head for Deepseeker and Relic hunter which requires 500 points of
Ruin Exploration. I switched to my Terra
Anima right away and started using it. Somewhere in the last 10 levels, I
picked up the Triple Strike tech for
staffs (Tech #69). Thanks to that group of 3. I ended up giving the last 30 sheets of pure
iron to Cap (in Europe) so he could make his own club.
---------
Back in Europe, I was running short on
cash so I decided to take a liner to EA and take some raisins out of product
storage and make wine. I traded for Tan Rifles and Saori and sailed back to
Europe. I need cash more than xp or
trade fame so I put it all up in aide bazaars.
-------
At the end of the day I sailed to North
America to invest in Railroads and collect berries to store in my quarters. I
will set my aide to start making raisins again, even though I still have over
3000 raisins in product storage.
75/80/70
May 2nd, Day 198
I was out most of the day. When I got
back I did a bit of fishing to re-stock my Tuna Steaks. I made R16+1 (max)
fishing while in the fisher job. My plan is to finish two of the memorial
albums and get a +2 craft trade (Jet
brooch/Ottoman Specialty goods) and a +2 Seasoning Trade item(Cat's-eye
brooch/West med Specialty goods) and the reward from Mercator for charting SA
West +2 Craft /worn,. With those, I will start working on my Alt's Seasoning
Trading and Craft trading. My alt has 9
Trading skills that I do not, and some of them are required to make high level
Furniture and Hulls.
---------
I did complete the two memorial albums,
but one of the items is a reward in India.
While I was looking for more + Trade items in the company shops in
London, I stumbled across an Official 3 deck Hull for 15m. I could not pass it
up, as it takes a normal 3 deck hull, a heavily armored sterncastle and 6 improved steel sheets to make. The
sterncastle alone cost about 50m, as it is a plunder item not easily obtained.
The Official hull should have cost 100-150m. One of my mid term plans is to
build a first class vai sseau and level to 79 Maritime. I found out that I could
not build the first class Vaisseau in
London as I am still at "distrust"
in my relations to them. Then I
sailed to Seville and I also could NOT build the ship there either. It turns
out that I have only invested 1.2m in Seville and I need about 5M. At the end,
of my 7 nations defection, I plan on returning to Spain (for location) and
topping up my investments in Seville and Bilabo, which I missed on the first
round. Next I sailed to Lisbon, the ship shows up as a possible build at the
shipyard. So I decide to plan out this build.
I am planning on putting on "Attack Prevention net" as the
ship's skill. Because I cannot find any Admiral's cabins for sale in Seville,
needed for this ship skill, I decide to make them myself. It is not a hard
recipe, but you have to get fine furniture, wax and processed lumber and make
them in Aden. Since you need trade goods to make the recipe, it requires you to
sail around Africa. Luckily, I have 4
crystal blessings from my adventures in Atlantis. The blessings allow you to
use one of several different powers. The
power I choose for my first blessing is "Poseidon's blessing" which
allows you to travel thru a canal for
one hour with up to 1000 trade goods on board. With the wax from Athens, and fine furniture
I made, I sail thru the Suez and make the Admiral's cabins in Aden. The
blessing saves me a good 70-80 minutes of sailing. Nice!
May 3rd, Day 199.
A good day to make a First Class
Vaisseau. I first sailed to NA
Newfoundland to collect berries for quarters production. Short trip to the
company colony to upgrade the ship's Ship Handling proficiency at the arsenal
and then Grade the ship to G1 and put on an armor improvement which adds +10 to
armor. The ship will have a base armor of 52 when I am done which is the best I
have ever had. With 3x13 plates, that will make it a 91 armor. The final ship is G1 3/5, 210V, 299H, 17Turn,
11 Wave Resistance, 52armor, 1219 Durability with attack prevention net as the
ship skill. 202 Crew, 104 Cannon Chambers and 326 Cargo. This is not my final
maritime ship, so its G1. It just has to get me to maritime level 79.
--------------
The rest of the day I work on making
Carronade 18's. I will stockpile 18 of them, so I can do multiple BR's before I
have to stop.
May 4th, Day 200
Completed my first BR of this series. I
went to India to complete an adventure quest and stayed to do a BR. My goal is
to do one BR per day until my Carronades all bust.
==========
May 5th, Day 201
Another 2 BR, I in the Black Sea. I am about 90% vs 3ship fleets; Sinop Fleet
or Black Sea cruiser fleets, and about 66% success vs the 4 fleets. The most common unlucky situations for me are
1) being shot and going into disorder, just before being meleed and 2) being
critted just after defeating a ship and coming out of melee. It helps a ton to have 80+ armor while I am
in melee with a ship. I can withstand being shot multiple times in melee
without being sunk. My armor and guns are really taking a beating. I have
already gone thru 4 armor plates, 8 carronades, and 800 MCCT. I have also done 12, College theses (+31,000
credits) in these two days. The thesis Theme is "Division of Labor in
Pirating Crews". Completion gives
2600 credits and requires 250 pages. For
a person who is skilled at land battles/deck battles, this is the quickest way
to get a lot of college credits. Every fight with a 3 fleet gives 5 points per
ship sunk and 25 points for winning a deck battle. This usually results in 35 points per fleet
battle for me. After 30 ships, I usually have one thesis completed.
----------
End of day, Made Swordplay R11, Assault
R10
75/80/71
May 6th, Day 202
I cannot beat the formidable enemy (Roaming
Pirates) when he shows up with 2 ships.
The cannon damage is just too much.
Even with 88 armor, the two ships do 600+ damage each round of shots. My
ship only has 1219 durabiltiy and so is destroyed in two shots unless I can
manage to melee the admiral.
---------
I finally beat the two roaming pirates.
Instead of turning into the NPC to try to melee one of them, I sailed away from
them towards the edge. The program for the NPC logic is somehow flawed and one
of the pirates kept sailing straight (not towards me). This separated the two
ships and I was able to repair the damage from one until we engaged in melee. The other pirate was far off enough to give
me time to wear down the first ship before he got his free shots at me. My
record with them is 1/5 (20%) success.
----------
I started and completed another BR in
the Black sea and started fooling around with the formidable enemies when there
were two of them. Instead of sailing at one of them to try and get them into
melee as fast as I could, I tried sailing directly away from them. The two NPC seem to be confused and did not
turn to follow. They instead continued to sail straight on their starting
lines. At the very edge of the ring, I slowed down and turned. The admiral of
the enemy fleet did not bounce/stop at the edge but somehow managed to leave
the ring. I was awarded 2xp and a
victory. Really?! That is a first. To check this, I went to port and set sail
again and found that the message "you have caught the attention of a
formidable enemy" no longer showed up.
Weird.
Made Arms R5
May 7th, Day 203
I am getting low on funds and so I
started the day taking the company liners to East Asia. I pulled another 1700 raisins from product
storage and converted it into wine and traded in Nagasaki and Sakai. After sailing back to Europe, I spent the
second half of the day making more Carronade 18's. Made
21 sets of Carronade 18's and 4 new plates.
The carronades should be good enough for another 4 battle reports.
----------
Evening is another BR in the Black Sea,
working on cannon skills. I have decided
to rotate between Cannoneer, Sr. Officer and Pirate to work up my skills. My
maritime skills are 9-11 and the ones that are 10+ won't improve unless I am in
a job that favours them.
---------
End of day I make level 72 maritime,
Reloading R10.
75/80/72
May 8th, Day 204
Made Penetration R10. Another BR in the Black Sea.
Spain and England are STILL at distrust.
========
<May 9th, Day 205
Still more BR in Black Sea. I found out
why the official 3deck hulls are so cheap. They are part of the Millionaire's
mysterious bonanza box. +20+28 -1 sails are also in that box, so I see quite a
few popping up for 5M, aboutt 1/3 of what they are worth.
England is back to Normal status. Only
Spain remains at distrust.
May 10th, Day 206
Two more BR in the Black Sea. Not much
to see here, other than my Gunnery Skills made R11. Ended the day in North America, replenishing
my MCCTs and salted fish nuts.
Made Maritime Level 73.
75/80/73
==========
May 11, Day 207
last BR for a while. Roaming pirate #2,
can't turn in time and exits the combat ring, leaving me with just vs. the
Admiral. # of thesis Submitted 376. The
one I have been using is Division of labour in pirating crews. If I deck
battle, I can submit eight or so per Battle report, four if I go just with ship
skinking/cannoneering. They are worth 2600 pages each so I hit the 60,000 page
cap quite quickly. I did so many deck
battles, my King Richard's armor finally hit 0/250 and broke.
---------
A company mate asked about sailing xp 2 trips at 5 days vs 1
trip at 10 days. I will do a study and see if I can come up with a formula.
----------
Went to SEA which is safe waters to do 4
charts. I am close to level 76 and would like to level before the next North
American festival. I discovered
"Aurora" (natural phenomenon, sorry I forgot to record the exact
co-ords) while charting in North Hobart
----------
End of day I passed 1150 discoveries
and 236/289 areas charted
May 12, Day 208
Working on more adventure quests and
charts, as I am very close to leveling adventure.
Before dinner I passed 1160 discoveries and leveled Adventure. In the evening I
went back to doing Battle reports in the Black Sea.
---------
76/80/73
===========
May 13, day 209
Completed Black Sea BR #9 in 9 days. Made
accuracy R11. Sailed to Lisbon to help a company mate make Portuguese Military
Panel. I then swapped to cartographer and went to chart North and South
Greenland. I used a +50% booster after i completed the first chart and just
before I reported it and started charting the second area. With the +10% from
adventure ship refit and +50% booster, the two charts were 9700 and 9808 xp. There
is a natural phenomenon just to the left of
Iceland, but I was not able to get it. The sea zone surrounds the island
so I had to sail around it and try to find it, but it only appears briefly
before disappearing. I ran out of water and had to sail back to London to get
the next set of areas of the NW passage. Mercator added 9 more area to chart. On my way back to chart more of the North West
passage, I waited about 20 minutes for
the natural phenomenon West of Iceland to appear again. It is called
"Dirty Thunderstorm" 14670:1420 and looks like a volcano is going off
on the island.
-------
Charted 242/297 areas.
May 14, Day 210
Helped a new company member Brann work
on his Advanced maritime school.
Completed a BR in the Black sea, then in
the evening went to NA SE for the festival.
It started at 8pm PST for some reason, instead of 10pm. I did about 200
land battles as well as collecting. Unfortunately I lent my 2nd traveller's
food procuring book to another company mate who forgot to return it before
logging off.
=====
May 15th, Day 211
Contribution day. Thanksgiving festival continues. GM bingo in
Atlantis is on today.
I will do my usual collect berries, go
fill my quarters, come back to NA. Do at least 300 land battles. Work on Terra Amina forte points. My reports are becoming a little boring as I
get up in levels and skills, there is much
more grinding and less to report.
The grind continues.
-----------
Finally relations with all European
countries has returned to "normal" status.
------
End of day, another 300 land battles
completed. Terra Amina Forte 320, but the weapon is down to 17 durability, ugh.
May 16th, Day 212.
There is now a +50% bonus on for XP,
Skill, Fame and finesse point acquisition.
I change from completing battles in 20 seconds using traps to about 60
seconds to gain finesse points instead.
I need spears, so I go back to
Europe and make 6 flamberges. I fight in
North America without any gear on, but I have to use a weapon and my weapons
take a real beating. My normal Terra Amina went from 80 durability to 17 in
maybe 2hours of fighting so I stopped using it and switched to spears.
I get my spear finesse points to
Power(19) Quick (14) Feint (16) which is high enough to obtain level 3 spear
techs if I ever run into the right NPC. I switched to yatagan (throwing dagger)
once I reached these finesse points and obtained New Swift Throw (Tech #69 or
70 I think.)
May 17th, Day 213
In addition to the server buffs, the
update Chapter 3.5 of the age of Revolution has added 77 new discovery quests.
Many of them are R17 quests! There is
also a discovery race on for the period May 16th until Jun 12th (I assume the
next update)
The competition is for the number of new
discoveries you can make in this time.
----------
More land battles. I busted my Yatagan
and went back to spears (Halberds) that I brought with me. When my Yatagan
busted, my Throwing dagger finesse points stood at Power (22), Quick (17),
Feint (12). End of day, I complete another 300+ land battles and level
Adventure.
77/80/74
May 18th, Day 214
For some reason the North American
Thanksgiving festival is still on. I wanted to go back to the Black Sea and
level maritime, but I have to stay in NA until either the festival ends or I
bust all of my halberds. Today I broke 3 of them! I obtained Tech #71 Wild Thrust (R3 Spear
Quick tech) from the Thief 37 in North America SE. I would say to obtain this
tech, the key is patience and healing medications. The Thief 37 uses a spear and also has "
Oberschnitt" R3 spear tech.
-------
End of day, I completed another 500+
land battles.
May 19th, Day 215
Did a few more land battles past
midnight and obtained Tech #72 Oberschnitt (R3 Spear Power Tech) My method for
getting the techs originally was to just stand around and get hit/use
medications to heal while waiting for the NPC to use the tech, then try to kill
him as fast as possible. If you attack with your weapon, I don't think you can
stop your toon from attacking, so the NPC eventually dies. After not killing
the npc fast enough 5-6 times, I finally figured out If you use a tech, that is
all they do (some damage and then they stop.) I was able to use 2-3 tech hits
to damage the npc to just above half health. If you do more than that, they use
medication and heal themselves. After I used this trick, I got the tech on the
next try.
------------
I don't know why but NA festival bonuses
are still on, so I stayed until my second last halberd busted. With only one weapon (my alt has no weapon),
I can't chain techs as easily so I decided to go back to NA and fill my
quarters with berries and make new weapons.
-----------
obtained tech #73 Axe Big Drop Down
feint AxeR2
---------
Took a break and switched to grinding
storage skill. I processed 10,000 clicks worth of berries->lime juice,
exotic fruit->allspice and fish+berries->salted fish with nuts. Remember
every great success gives 101 trade xp during the festival, and my great
success rate with College skill 3 and 4 active is around 20%. I made Trade level 81 and completed
Storage R15+2 refined.
77/81/74
May 20th, Day 216
NA festival is still on. More collecting
and land battles. Obtained Tech #74?,
Triple swing (Axe quick tech R2) Tech #75? Strike Down (Axe Power tech
R2). Festival bonus ended around 7pm, so I sailed back to Europe with a load of
berries to fill the quarters with. I
lost track of what tech I am on and should do a check next time.
----------
I started another Battle Report. I would
like to do some adventuring, but I have to use up a few cannons to open slots
for archive maps.
May 21st, Day 217
I completed the last battle report and
made Maritime level 75. I also discovered a new natural phenomenon in the Black
Sea called "Will-o'-the-wisp" It looks like a green light circling
above the water at 1390:3060.
-------------
Started the day with 1167 Discoveries. We will see how many I can discover before
the race ends.
------------
I have the advantage of being able to
activate "hide completed quests" and "hide discovered maps"
as two of my college skills. It requires
base R11 search/recognition or Ecological research. Took a long cruise around
the world thru the Suez Canal, to Aden, then Calicut, then Jakarta .. Tamsui
and Hangzhou.. back to Jakarta with EA goods then more quests going to Hawaii
and North America. Trained it from San Fran to Boston, and did my collections
in NA East coast. Phew! Quests and
archive maps all the way.
----------
On my first pass from Calicut to
Jakarta, I stopped in Sumatra South west landing area and did about 20+ land
battles. I tried to acquire the sword R3 techs, but even though I was able to
kill the NPC within 5 seconds of him using it, I was still not able to acquire
the tech. I did not want to spend too
much time trying for the techs so I moved on.
----------
End of day passed 1193 discoveries. Made
Archeology R10.
May 22, Day 218
Discovered "Ball Lightning" (weather/phenomenon)
in Boston East end of town, on my way back to Europe.
Sold off the EA goods and got set for
another round of discoveries...... then internet went on the fritz. Ten
discoveries, not much done today.
----------
End of day 1203 discoveries.
May 23, Day 219
More adventure quests.
So early on I was taking a new quest
going from Alexandria to Lima Peru(it was not in the ivyro page otherwise I
might have caught the problem before I started) , called "Green
Egg." It turns out the quest is
impossible to complete as the development in Lima is 49k and there is no
scholar there to talk to. I scanned the "all chat" and found [CA] Alianore,
whom I mentioned this to. I also put it in the forums under Bugs. It won't help
(myself) if I complain, It will help others if I post it and notify a [CA], so
there you go.
-----------
I made Appraisal R10 and ended the day
with 1215 discoveries.
May 24, Day 220.
Still More adventure quests.
While doing quests in EA, I passed
Antimatter, a player who was way way ahead early on in levels during the
opening race. I checked him out and he is already 85/85/85!! Nice. I wonder
what kind of life you have if you are there already.
-------
I picked up a load of EA goods while in
EA and another quest going to Australia on my way to North America. Discovered
"Morning Glory" (natural phenomenon) 6622:5775 while charting Arufa
Sea.
----------
End of day 245 areas charted, 1237
discoveries made. Will make level 78 Adventure tomorrow for sure.
May 25th Day 221.
Helped a company mate SB, by fleeting
and just sitting at the shipyard while I went out for the morning. Was out most
of the day so I only finished a few quests, but I managed to make Adventure level 78!
---------
End of day made 1246 discoveries
78/81/74
============
May 26th, Day 222
Mostly adventure quests all day. I only
stopped once to help a company mate grind his casting skill. I set up an aide
bazaar in Hamburg with 6000 minerals and 2000 coal, then continued on my
adventures.
1259 Discoveries. Made Search R12,
Appraisal R10.
May 27th, Day 223
More Adventure quests. Discovered
Chichen itza. There is something weird
going on with this quest chain. The first quest in the chain is called
"isolated imperial city" and is supposed to be (from the Ivyro page)
Recognition R8, Caution, R10 and Sociability R10. The quest shows up as Caution
R1, Sociability R1, and Caution R1?!?.
My Sociability is R6 and was able to complete the quest. If I remember correctly from my OGP days,
this was the only quest needing a high sociability/caution and I had to equip
gear to make it show up.
---------------
Did 10 land battles in South Vera Cruz
fighting a specific NPC to get Sword
Unterhau or Wild Slash tech R3's. I was not able to get the techs despite
killing the NPC right after he used the tech. I expect its luck and will either
have to grind it out or get the improve technique acquisition
-----------
As part of one of the quests, I had to
visit the Medici Palace and while I was there, I clicked on the NPC Lorenzo
Medici, one more time as I usually do during quests to make sure he got all the
info I ended up clicking 4 more times, and each time I was granted all of the recipes
available by the Medici for the different areas of Oxford, North America,
Florence, and Paris. I checked out all of the recipes, of which there are a lot
that I have not seen before. One in particular caught my eye. I have never seen a recipe for Superior Full
rigged sail. Was not expecting it to be a great sail, because the components were
just lumber/iron and hemp. It turns out it is just a Main Full rigged sail.
Why call it a Superior Full when it is
the same stats as a Main Full?
-----------
End of day 1275 discoveries, 249/297
areas charted.
May 28th, Day 224
224 days in and I finally have a quest
that makes me enter Caligari. I discovered Caligari today! One of the things
that I have not talked about before is the use of tow permits. It is a
very large part of me being able to do adventure quests without much attention
to the computer. Currently East Asia and the Caribbean are safe waters and I
use tow permits to sail in these areas as well as the Med. At the end of the NA
festival where there is a bonus of +14 tow permits per day (24 total) I was
able to get both my main and alt to the max of 200 tow permits. Almost every chance I get I use tow permits
to auto sail any short distance while I am able to do other real life work.
Once I finish my work, I check UWO and am usually at port in the city I want to
get to ... talk to the next person on the quest and then auto sail to the next
port. Because my toons are fleeted, I set one to auto sail and the other to
just follow. This makes it very easy to
accomplish a quest with only attention when I am at a city or landing port. I highly recommend the use of tow
permits for any serious adventurer.
--------------
End of day 251/298 areas charted, 1287
Discoveries.
May 29th, Day 225
Discovered Black smoker (natural
phenomenon) 13734, 4405 while doing quests from Rio de Janero and the
Caribbean. I am pretty tired of doing adventure quests. Tomorrow is the last
day for adventure. The race will end at the system update at 2pm server time. I
picked up the Artist Job card. It requires Search R11, Art R13 and
Handicrafts R8. My art is only R9, but I do have Scholar Aid 2 active as a
college skill and am equipped with a Babylonian Harp +2 Art.
End of day 1302 discoveries.
May 30th, Day 226
A few more quests in the morning. Picked up the Gurellia Job card.
I stopped a bit early to help another company mate grind casting. When the update happened, I was at 1309
discoveries.
------------------
I spent a few hours, collecting
lumber/logs in NA, then making sails to be split between company members and my
aide bazaar. (I am a bit low on money and have to make/sell stuff.) The rest of the day I spent helping other
company members grind their casting skills at Hamburg. My mineral trade skill
is slowly grinding thru R13.
May 31, Day 227
Papaya has extended the XP and Skill
bonus to June 28th, due to a "fame" issue. The bonus was supposed to
be XP, Skill and Fame 50% bonus, but the Fame bonus was not working for the first 15 days, so they
extended the bonus another 15 days essentially.
-----------------
Time for a Battle report. While doing
the battle report, I will refill my college credits by doing deck battle
theses. I have used up 18k credits in the last two weeks swapping between field
studies(while I collect in NA), Hide discovered maps while doing adventures and
the odd Search aid , when my search skills were not high enough to complete a
quest.
--------------
End of day, completed 1.5 battle reports
and 8 college theses on division of labour in pirating crews. (over 20k college
credits earned, and capped again at 60k)
June 1, Day 228
I finished my second Battle report in
India and took the liner back to Lisbon. The cultural preference and liner from
Lisbon to Calicut will be active for two more days. I will try to take
advantage of it while India is safe waters and return for more battle reports.
A day for reorganizing my items, aides,
equipment and consumables. I have to refill my calming flags, perception
of artisan, landmark ribbons, lifesavers ... I have used a lot of them in the
last 2 weeks without restocking. I also go to Boston to invest in the railways
and collect more berries for both my main and alt's quarters. I have about 5000 raisins (alt/main combined)
in my quarters storage.
------------
I unlocked Trade 70+ for my alt.
Interestingly to unlock it, if you give the craftsman saori, it does not unlock
trade 70+. I used a piece of lumber as
recommended in the Gangsta guide and it worked.
------------
I checked and found that I made #22
place on the discovery race with 139 discoveries. (the ports don't count) The
director of my alt's company TerraNova, (named Morronguilla) made 21st place with 143 discoveries.
Congrats to him. First place was 391, 10th place was 193 discoveries. https://uwo.papayaplay.com/uwo.do?tp=news.view&postid=1733
How many of thine disvoveries are biology or treasures (ooh...shiny)?
Anyways, keep up the good work. ^_^
June 2, Day 229
EA goods in San Francisco today. It is
Huzhou brushes this time. I do not have
any jobs with crafts trade as a preferred skill so I decide to get the Artisan job. It requires Surgeon's secret
elixir. The components are from Basra, Amsterdam and Istanbul. Luckily I still have some "Blessing of
Posideon" and can take trade goods thru the Suez Canal, then camel ride to
Basra and make the elixirs there. Nice!
Caribbean and North America East coast was safe waters until about 9am,
which was nice for the players who did all the trading last night. This morning
PO3's are 1M+ each and the pirates are out around Boston now. The pirates are especially heavy today as
there is a notoriety race on for pirates for the 15 days after this last
update.
------------
I do a little bit of crafts grinding
with my alt, but not much. The plan is, by the next EA goods appearance in San
Fran, to work on crafts trade and to invest in the railroad so that I open up
NA SE coast as a rail stop and NA E. Coast (500m investment.) That way I can
sail into Boston, train to SF. Buy goods, Train to NA E. or NA SE and sail from
there. The pirates will block Boston, but not the landing sites.
-----------
I sold some PO3's in an aide bazaar and
then run Bordeaux 20 times to restock some PO's I am at 350pts for ruin
exploration. 150 more before I get the
title of Relic Hunter.
I completed a battle report in India and
made Maritime level 76.
78/81/76
Jun 3rd, Day 230
Completed another Battle report in
India. Made Reload R11, and Penetration R11. Safe waters finished this morning
at 3am. Indian cultural trends in Lisbon ended so there is no Liner back to
Lisbon.
-----------
I spent some time away from the game
just thinking about alchemy and what to grind for high level alchemy. I settle on headache Meds. It is a high level Alchemy recipe that I can
process for the bonus xp. Nobody ever sells this stuff as it is way more
valuable than the 1m cap on consumables. It is not an easy recipe. It takes a
ton of materials, and a lot (up to 10 recipes) just to make 1. I plan to collect and make 1000's of Ventus
reduction, an Alchemy R3 recipe. Once I have the reductions, I will switch to
the Alchemy job and process them all with the R10 recipe.
I expect to get around 300 headache meds
per 1000 Ventus, as a fail will make nothing and possibly damage my kiln. A normal success will produce a
"sober", or a "strange
powder." Only a great success will produce a headache medicine.
