Step #1 of 7 (to make headache meds) is to collect and make Seals of Sorcery. Step 2 is make Seals of Slyph.
Made collection R13. I spent over 12 hours collecting with main and alt. I am really exhausted, sailing around, collecting, sailing. making seals. I collected white ore in North America to make silver, Mandrake in North Africa, Salt in Porto and collected brine while sailing.
-------
At the end of the day I have made 169 Seal of Slyph and have 149 Seal of Sorcery left over. This took roughly 4500 Salt, 2000 Silver, 2880 Mandrake (half of the salt was purchased) and 2000 wings of the eagle from Cairo. I was not planning on the Seal of Slyph part today, but I wanted to test the recipe and ended up making a lot of them.
Discovered Submarine Volcano (Natural Phenomenon) 1240:3290. This is probably one of the easiest phenomenon to discover. I sail past it all the time going from Alexandria to Istanbul all the time.
-----------
I am getting better at optimizing the collecting. When I go to North America, I bring 1000 salt and 800 mandrake with me. After collecting lots of white ore and making 600 silver, I convert all of it to Seals of Sorcery (consumables) and get down to 0 Cargo, before starting collecting again and making whole new pile of silver.
Not an exciting day. Ended with 526 Seal of Sorcery. Two more days more for collecting and making Seals and One and a half days of collecting green ore and seaweed.
Another boring day .. 12 more hours of collecting White ore for silver and Mandrake. My alt's seasoning trading is now up to R6+2 from buying so much salt in Porto (From R2). I use Porto instead of Barcelona because I can also pick up a lot of leather while I am there. This goes well with the excess vegetable oil I collect in North Africa with the mandrake. I set up my base in Tunis where I have an aide bazaar to store all of the excess goods. With the excess veg. oil and leather, I make lots of high defense boots. 70d-90d and put them up for sale in Seville. As I am investing 20m in Railroads from my main and alt every day when I go to North America so the boot sales keeps me from going broke.
---------------
Step 2 of 7 (to make heachache meds) is make Seals of Slyph (bit more detail). With salt and seals of scorcery, I sail to Cairo and stand at the item shop and buy multiple loads of Eagle's wings.
At the end of the day I have 721 Seal of Slyph and 143 Seal of Scorcery left over.
More collecting.Itake a detour to EA and change some raisins into wine and trade it. The reason is that the product storage in quarters can only store 5000 of each good type and I am around 4800 raisins.
----------
I have made and sold about 500m in boots while collecting veg oil/mandrake, and buying salt/leather (Porto). I am up to 1.1B in coins, nothing close to the 20B+ needed for elite cash ships, but good enough for me.
As part of the plan to make headache medications, I will have to go to Atlantis if it is still available to get more of Posideon's blessings. The key location to collect green ore is the Red Sea West coast. The location is very close to Istanbul if you go thru the Suez Canal, but you can only take goods thru there with a Posideon's Blessing charm from Atlantis.I still have 3 from my last trip, but I need to get another 3-4 to be able to get the 10-12,000 green ore thru the Suez.
---------
Tonight is the ESF which I wanted to participate in, but I was not able to find the quest. The ESF help page seems clear, but the npc who are supposed to have the quest for me do not have it. Somehow I missed a step. Anyhow I keep on working towards headache meds. At the end of the day i have1167 seal of Slyph.
I managed to find the ESF quest today. Belive it or not, I'm fleeting with KillaDub, a very active and capable pirate of the OGP age. Also in the fleet are AJ, Samantha99, ThomDan. Thanks to Seraph for helping organize the stragglers like me. We did get owned a lot by ISSA and KATTANA's fleet. I think in Fleet battles vs them we were 1-6 and the 1 was because their admiral retreated after losing most of his fleet. AJ may have been away for most of the battles, as he took no actions in the logs i reviewed, butI hate to admit it, but ISSA's fleet was faster and better than us.
----------------
I was also distracted for the first few fights as I was not sure who our admiral was. On the left side of the screen, the admiral usually has a head next to his name and it is also who I follow, when you click follow admiral. During the battles, if the admiral is following someone else in the fleet, that player becomes admiral for the battle.I may be wrong , but as far as I could tell, this is how it works and I was confused when we lost the battle and the player who I thought was the admiral was not sunk.It is also confusing when there are more than one fleet in combat and the admiral of an allied fleet gets sunk. I am not 100% certain, but this also seems to be the case. I will have to look into it more.
More collecting white ore in Newfoundland to make silver. Made collection R14, then off to complete the charting of the North West Passage and level Adventure. Completed Arctic/Beaufort/Barrow Seas and used a Pegasus Feather to return to the colony port. Made Adventure level 79. I will spend some time and scour the Seville markets to get some equip and prep to do land battles tomorrow. I need a club/bow/crossbow/gun and handgun to work on those weapon techs R2 once the Thanksgiving festival starts. The plan is 3-4 days of land battles in NA once that starts.
-----------------
Helped another company mate get his casting skill from R10 to R12. I made it from mineral trade R13 to R14base+6 (boots, gold staff and silver earrings)
Was out most of the day. I loaded up on weapons and 1-2 pieces of junk armor. The only interesting thing I did was get the Caravanner Job Card. I assigned my alt the Admiral's of the fleet, so I could take the quest, as he has the animal trading skill.
-----------
Thanksgiving festival started today so I will go to NA, collect and do as many land battles as I can.
=========
June 12th, Day 239
Since the NA festival is on, the break from collecting for headache meds will be 3 days.
Helped out three new company members get set up in North America for the festival then worked on Bows and rifle techs/finesse while doing land battles. I picked up Tech #76? (New Sure Arrow.) Nothing special about the land battles, just boring and tedious working xp for adventure and maritime. I did about 300 battles and ended with 9/4/9 in bow finesse ranks and 8/4/9 in Gun finesse ranks.
Mostly out all day since there was an update in the middle of the day. I got on in the evening to continue my land battles.I managed a record 13tech chain. An 11 chain nets approximately 214 finesse points. The maximum is 230 at 12. At 13, it is the same 230 finesse points.
========
June 14th, Day 241
I now have the finesse skills for all the R2 Gun(rifle) techs, but I also need R3 gunfire to get them.I will have to temporarily get the skill and a +3 Gunfire item, then come back and do more gun grinding to pick up the 3 R2 Gun techs. Fortunately, I already have the musketeer and Brigand Jobs, which specialize in gunfire. I sail to Boston, switch jobs and with my Mogul gun +1 gunfire, I am already R3 gunfire.Take a train it back to NA Southeast coast and more land battles.I did about another 100+ land battles, but I did not get any new gun techs. My gun finesse ranks end at 8/10/12, enough to get all R2 gun (rifle) techs.
The Thanksgiving festival is over so I bring back a load of berries to store in quarters to process into raisins. Then I head to Africa North Coast to start collecting Mandrake again. I will be back on prepping for Headache Meds for 5-6 days. On Monday (3 days from now) I will do my Atlantis solar barca quests again and go to Atlantis, for the purpose of getting some Posideon's Blessings.
------------
After filling my bazaar with 1500 Mandrake, I decide to go to San Juan and get the Money Trader job card.My alt started at R1+4 and ended with R4+4. It will be quicker to load up on silver for the Seal of Slyphs and I can save collecting in NA for berries instead of white ore.
My alt also made R12 Food Trading and R8 Seasoning Trading while buying food/salt in Porto. I make another 100 Seal of Slyphs. I have over 1700 now.
----------
I spent part of the day helping one company mate work is Handicrafts skills and showing him how to make improved defense boots. I also help another company mate skill his sewing skills. My textile skill makes it to R11+2 refined.
I am back in NA Southeast coast picking up some berries, Santo Domingo, for some Silver and Boston to invest in railroads. Back to Europe to fill my office storage with berries and aide bazaar with silver.I do a EA run today because my raisins have hit the 5000 max in product storage. I bring back 1900 Japanese Rifles and 1600 Saori. My alt made Trade 74, so he is close to sailing the Windjammer and I will have to make my Cruise High Clipper for Shipwrecks soon.
-------------
I set my alt to collect more mandrake and I go off to do some dungeons. I need to get some PO2s and 3's back as well as hopefully getting a R2 rifle tech. I do 10 more runs of Bordeaux dungeon and obtain Tech #76 Trick shot. I forgot where I was, so I split them up and counted again. I think I was off by one from my previous count.
18 Trap Techs/6 Merchandise Techs/52 Weapon Techs
----------
Today is my first Academy Debate. They happen on the 3rd weekend of each month. Saturday 5pm-7:30pm and Sunday 10am-12:30. My stunning opening record is 2 wins-13 losses. I think building a random deck is NOT good. You have to pick cards that are similar in location and properties, (to get bonuses when played together).. well live and learn. I earned a little xp and fame for my 2 lucky random wins. One more thing off my Record/Challenge mission.
Out most of the day.Collecting in NA. There is a request to invest in a specific rail line. Taking the train allows you to invest in the named Rail line multiple times. The bonus for this rail is not so good, but I do 20M investment anyways. Sorry I forgot to write down the name of the rail line. I put berries in quarters. Helping some company mates grind casting again and make some more Seal of Slyph. I have over 2000 now.
The Boston Thesis boost is on Jun 13th-July 11th. It says the number of theses you can write is increased by 100%. What it really means is that you get to write twice the normal pages for a successful action. So for if your fishing and get a normal fish that gives you 1 pages, it would give you 2 pages instead. In essence you complete the thesis in half the time. While in at Boston I switched to the fisher job and sailed back and forth between Boston and NA East coast and while I did my collection thesis. It only took about 3 minutes to complete a thesis! (Exotic fruit count as a great success and 100 pages of a 1000 page thesis, so you only have to get 10 of those and the thesis is done.
Including the sailing from Boston o NA East coast I would say a thesis takes 7-8 minutes to complete.
--------
Well I do have to write more on this. I continue to do Boston College Thesis and find that building #2 opens up after only 12 submissions. 13-14 Theses submitted opens up Boston College skill slot #2.I activate the fisher 1 Boston skill (gives me a chance to catch an extra fish while fishing, above the field studies +2. I am going to check the old chicken/egg cooking trick to see if it works here.
---------
Today was supposed to be Atlantis day, but since the chicken/egg thesis works in Boston, I'm going to grind the heck out of Boston College. I take the title of cooking meister and away I go.I have personally moved the total theses submission up by 160 points. This morning it started below 3000, it currently stands at 3,167/20,000. (2 points per submission, I did 80 theses between my main and alt.) I think the 20,000 is the number of thesis submissionsneeded before Boston allows players to have access to Building #3. I now have 3 Boston College skill slots. The other two besides the fisher 1 bonus, is cook skill 1, which allows R17 base cooking skill and, fisher 2 skills, which makes the cool down time between fishing attempts shorter.A rough calculation is one fishing action/10 seconds with this Boston college skill on, and one fishing action/12 seconds without it. (my alt and I had a fishing competition). Between my main and alt, we earned over 50,000 college credits in four hours. I could have done more, but I got bored and was already at the max 60k credits and my alt, was near max too.
---------
I did manage to get the 3 Atlantis quests done, while I sent my alt to start collecting green ore in the Red Sea West coast lading. This is another component to continue the next step in the process for headache meds.Seal of Slyph + 10Green ore +
---------
Went to Atlantis. I picked up the "Ancient technolgy research" quest (slot #3) by trading/delivering 100 wares. I then proceeded to see how far I can make it in the endless dungeon with the Deepseeker title on. I made it to level 21 in the endless dungeon. I went in with a great warrior spear and light armor, 94a 74d. I did not do enough battles to complete the quest, but it is really easy to finish and is reported back at your capital. There are many ways that you can get progress in the research, butI like to do 100 land battles to complete the research, and they can be done anywhere vs. even the easiest npc's.
-------
I pick up the "crystal of blessing" while in Atlantis. One at the temple of Posiedon, and one at the port. These can be used in different methods to get different effects. I use them and ask for Posideon's blessing which will allow me to sail back and forth thru a canal with 1000 trade goods for ONE HOUR. I will explain how I do this tomorrow.
I have a very long day planned. 14h or so of activity.
NA, Collecting berries for quarters and turning rocks into crystal. After that, I sailed to Red Sea (Step 3a of 7 for headache meds) and started collecting green ore. While I was at the landing area, I did some land battles to complete my Atlantis quest, researching mysterious goods and picked up Tech #77, Triple shot.
-----------
I take approximately 3800 green ore from Red Sea West coast and set up my alt's aide bazaar in Suez. I stock it with 1800 ore. With the crystal blessing from Atlantis, I take 1000 ore thru the canal and put it into my main's aide bazaar which I set up in Cairo. I sail back and pick up the next 1000 ore from my alt in Suez... thru the canal and put it into the bazaar in Cairo.. back thru to Suez and take 1000 more ore from the alt's Cairo bazaar. I sail thru the canal with my alt who is now empty. In Cairo, I transfer the 1000 ore to him and sail back thru the canal to Suez and buy the last 800 ore from my alt's bazaar and take the last trip thru the canal to Cairo. This works with EA goods as well, but this trip is a huge shortcut as the recipe I need to use is in my quarters in Istanbul at the alchemy test kiln. Step #3b of 7 (for headache meds) Make Gaseous Drugs. I take all the goods I collected and start making gaseous drugs.
----------------
Made marching R11.
---------------
Some players ask, how do you get to level 80 adventure? ..... Wind god's charm just prior to reporting a sea zone then chart the next zone and also report it. 15,840 Adventure xp. for 1 sea zone chart. 50% Papaya bonus, 10% Exploration ship refit Adventure, +50% wind god's charm. 15,979xp for South Pacific Ocean Basin, 16,123xp South Pacific East, South Pacific North 16,264xp, Samoan Sea Basin 16,408xp.
I made Level 80 Adventure. Charting, collection in NA during the Thanksgiving Festival and land battles during the festival are the top three ways to make adventure xp. Some players get discouraged charting the first few areas because the xp starts so small, but as you can see, keep at it and it ends pretty high. Even without the bonuses, those zones are 8k each. 259/297 areas charted.
Another green ore collection day to make gaseous drugs. When my quarters is filled with gaseous drugs, I bring a load of crystal from Seville and (step 4 of 7 for headache meds)make test tubes and distillers. I continue with (step #5 of 7 for headache meds) make Ventus Reductions. The Gaseous drugs are trade goods (not consumables) so they cannot be stored at the bank and I can only fit 999 in my quarters goods storage. I process as much as I can and at the end of Day I have 850 Ventus Reductions.
More Green ore collecting, more gaseous drugs. More crystal (from Seville bazaars), more ventus reductions. My plan is to be done by June 23-24th so I can spend a day grinding my alt's craft trade just prior to the 26th. On the 26th there will be a EA trade good available in San Francisco again, and I hope to take advantage of it.
----------
(Step 6a of 7 for headache meds), collect Seaweed and Grass. Step 6b Make stomach Meds. My calcs are wayyyyy off. I will have around 2600 gaseous drugs, which will end up as5200 Ventus reductions. I have no chance to make 6x that many stomach meds so I stop at 4000 Ventus reductions. I have to look into shared storage as there I will need 6x that many stomach meds.(24,000 stomach meds! will require an astounding 144,000 seaweed and 96,000 grass!!! Holy crap thats a lot of collecting to do and there is no way I will get that done before the 27th(when the skill boost ends), especially if I take a day to do the Nanban goods from San Francisco on the 26th.Ihave 5 days to get it done, and there won't be any time left for any battle reports, or even to do the planned unlock grind with archive maps from India.. I am going to have to do the headache meds in multiple rounds.
I can collect 330 seaweed in 1h per toon, 660 for 2 toons = 165 stomach meds. Maybe I can make 200 stomach meds per hour if I turn on college great success 3 and 4.That is still 120 hours just to collect the seaweed I am going to need. I also bought and activated shared storage. It is like having an extra ship cargo hold that allows you to store 5000 trade goods of any combination up to 50 goods. I will not be able to store more than approximately 4800 stomach meds. 1000 in each bank, quarters, and 400 iventory on each toon. I will also be able to store 12,0000 seaweed which should convert into another 2000 stomach meds.
--------------
Got the Alchemy job card from Alexandria, 3m to change jobs, otherwise it would be 60M!
-------------
I will be getting a lot of sobers as the regular success of this recipe, so I will do another of the Elite tricks. I have to criedit Juicebox on Ivyro for posting about this .
Tip of the Day using sober and stomach meds is a fast way to give your aide xp sailing bonus days. You can cap it out at 100 days by buying special course meals. (check out ivyro under "sober."I will give you the first one mentioned Cueta/Seville Liquer, Tortilla, bachalau croqutte, Chicken Paella, milk.Has a % chance of giving your aide a +2-3 sailing day bonus. When your drunk or full, use the stomach meds or sober and keep going. I don't know if there is a restriction on the meals, but i had success on 2 out of the first 5 meals.(3 days of sailing bonus per success) After that I failed 15 times in a row so I stopped.
-----------
I did my first run at the recipe to try and get headache meds. Here are the results.
-----------
Step 7 of 7 for headache meds.
90 alchemy test kiln experiments.. 90 fails. Here is what I posted in the forums under bugs.
-----------
Ok I have the skills R8+2 and all the materials to do a test kiln experiment.
6 stomach meds + funnel + ventus reduction.
I did the experiment 100 times.. ALL FAILED.
this can't be right. It used up materials .. and wore down my kiln durability,
but zero results, not even the common regular success. of "sober"
I am trying to make (great success) headache meds.
Ventus Reducitons are NOT easy to make and I just blew 90 of them.
Thanks for looking into this.
-----------
I corrected myself after checking the results and made another post saying I only did 90 experiments.
Extra info that I did not post. The kiln is a +2 "normal" test kiln, not the basic +1 kiln nor the +3 storage adv. kiln. I was in the alchemist job, with base R8 alchemy using an academic tam +1 and emerald tablet +1 total R8+2 alchemy, to do a R10 alchemy recipe. I have college skill, increase production success rate 4 active. When I did each experiment, the message was either 70x "nothing changed" (only part of the components were used up, usually the ventus reduction) or 20x "your materials have undergone a violent reaction in the course of the experiment and vanished" (all components are used up)
---------
I think a hold on the alchemy experiments is in order until I get a reply in the bugs forum... I will most likely work on craft trading and the EA goods in SF on the 26th and also use all the extra time to do battle reports in the Black Sea.
Frustrated with the results of my headache meds, I sail to NA to collect and fill my quarters with berries. While collecting berries, I decided to think/test out my other theories, when I go back to Istanbul to deliver berries. I started by using the other R10 Recipes at the kiln, they use distillers instead of funnels and I got 3 successes 1 great success and 1 fail on 5 tries. I think I found the problem.I scanned down to the recipes that needed a test tube or funnel.. and found the recipes that I wanted were in the lower section... and that section needs a lab bench instead of a test kiln! Now I still think there is a glitch, because when I was not equipped with my tam (hat) and emerald tablet (only R8) it says no recipes are available at the kiln. When I equip them, the experiment shows up at the kiln with the funnel or test tube.. but they should not show up here. I should not get any recipes or it should show a blank where the testing equipment shows up as I was only carrying funnels and you cannot use funnels with stomach meds to make anything at a kiln.
-----------
I set off to Cairo for the experimental equipment book, then to Beirut for some steel and lumber and go to Venice to make myself a couple lab benches.
----------
After installing the lab bench at my quarters. I proceed with my experiments!
(Step 7 of 7 make headache meds 2nd attempt)
6 stomach meds + 1 funnel +1 ventus reduction for each experiment
Made handicraft R16+2 refined, from making so many beakers/test tubes/distillers etc. Today will be my last day of Alchemy. The plan is Alchemy R10, so I can make +3 trade goods benches and make a couple for myself and other company mates. The recipe I am still grinding is lab benches which is glassware->beakers, lots of MCCT's and Lumber for processed lumber.
-------
My alt is now R6+6 Craft trade, which i think is good enough to use with PO 3's if there are crafts as the EA good in SanFran on Tuesday.I have been grinding craft trade in conjunction with wares trade to grind alchemy. The lab benches require large quantities of glassware which can be purchased in Venice and Naples. He is using "line of Chieftain clothing" +2, coral earrings +2 and college trade skill (category 3) +2, to get the total +6 in crafts.
---------
Enough grinding of that for this skill boost. I will do a quick run to EA to unload some raisins which have topped out at 5k in my quarters.I trade for saori and tan rifles. On the way back, I stop at Calicut and use 15 headache meds and pick up about 15 unlock treasure maps.
End of day, I make Alchemy R10 and Handicraft R16+2 refined, and level 82 Trade
EA goods in San Francisco. Today it is Paper lanterns. They are sundries and use PO1's. My sundries trading skill is R6+6. The good thing is that, PO1's also restock food/livestock as well as sundries and are 5 types of foods in SF. My current Food trading skill is R12.
-------------
End of day made R15 Food trading on my alt, then went to refine it in St. Petersburg.
I bought and sold probably 30,000 paper lanterns from an aide bazaar in Boston at 30k each.if you take into account how many PO1's I used, I estimate that I netted around 700M that day.
-----------
Caribbean and East Coast of NA is safe waters, but it ended when I was at St. Petersburg. Now the pirates are out in force around Boston.
------------
I go to NA Newfoundland and bring some lumber and iron ore, to restock my completely depleted MCCT stock. I probably made and used 4000 of them while grinding alchemy lab benches. After making 800 MCCT I switch to collect 1500 berries to put back into quarters storage.
-----------
I participated in the Seville->Jaffa race because I was going to Beirut anyways. I placed 45 and 43rd with 9:40 and 9:35. I start my unlock grind by collecting high level unlock maps in Alexandria.
A day to collect archive maps and work unlock. I used approximately 150 headache meds collecting unlock maps.I checked out Ambon which has over 79,000 development, but the culture/business and maritime development are very low still, only the cultural development is around 10k. It needs items delivered and discovery cards reported there to boost the culture before the scholar shows up. There is no carpenter, sculptor, painter, archives, weaponsmith, sailmaker or craft shop yet. Ambon/Ternate are by far the best locations to get maps to grind high level unlock, as there are four separate unlock R12 maps there that you can collect in one session of browsing, and they all unlock at the same location; Australia North West coast.
I end up spending most of my time in Calicut archives looking thru appraisal maps and art maps.(Tip of the day must have an alt to do this, as I think you cannot get the same map from the scholar, if you have the same map in your inventory, so you have to pass it to your alt or bank. Even then it took a lot of moving inventory around) After i get to Appraisal R11, I switch to collecting art maps. After collecting 31 art maps, Iuse a +50% skill boost and unlocked all of the art maps. In two trips, I unlocked 36x R13 in Persian Gulf North and 27x R9 in Central Nile river. The Persian gulf maps have an added bonus that the item you discover is a R3 unlock chestwhich gives extra unlock xp when you open it.
--------
On a side note, every session of browsing gives me approximately 75 xp in the type of book I am browsing. (with the 50% skill boost) 150 sessions of browsing books gives approximately 11,200 xp in art/appraisal
---------
End of day I made Appraisal R11...Unlock R10... Art R10
Last day for the xp and skill boost. I only need to finish my 40 last headache meds, which will put me close to R11 unlock.
--------
fan of sandalwood+1 sociability, +1 provisions, gold scarab +2 Bio, Indian Calico Shawl +1 appraisal, +1 art; ancient epic poem +1 archeology; persian dress +1 evasion; talwar +2 swordplay, +1 plunder. I threw away as many as 20 of each, as you get some combination of these items, not just one when unlocking maps.
----------
Doing these unlock maps has given me a new respect/perspective on being Turk/Ottoman. One thing that I found extremely useful is the ability to use the Suez Canal, then take the camel ride from Suez to Basra, then go to Persian Gulf North, or India. Basra to India is only 3 tow permits or 9-10 minutes sailing depending on the winds. Cairo to Calicut in 10 minutes is something I will have to think about.
------
Five minutes before the server update I finished all the unlock maps that I had, and got to 8431 /10,000 thru unlock R11.
----------
After the update I will take stock of where I am in cash and goods inventory.
A day to collect and restock items; berries for raisins, white ore for MCCT's, seaweed for stomach meds, deck brushes, rat poison, landmark ribbons.
---------
Best tip in the game, bar none. One of my company mates was asking about the chicken/egg college thesis trick posted on Day 244. I do not know who first came up with it, but it is not a hard trick to figure out yourself if you have the books. The prerequisites are, livestock book (poultry), R1 cooking, travelers food procuring book, storage R2, and two chickens or eggs and a LOT of vigor food. The explanation goes like this take chickens and the poultry book, step 1 process the chickens into eggs, step 2, take the storage book and process the eggs into chickens; repeat. It helps tremendously to be a Meister. The production gives anywhere from 1.2 to 1.5 goods back depending on refined/active college skills, so after 10+ cycles, you should be at 100's of eggs/chickens. From there you can stand next to the scholar and keep taking the building 1 cooking thesis and do one thesis per 100' eggs or chickens. Step 3, During Thanksgiving, you will understand why this is the best tip in the game. If you figure it out send me a tell in game.
----------
While in Boston I pick up the Artisan's research 1 theme. I will try to do a new one of these every day, until I have completed them all.
---------
Did a quick run to EA and loaded up on Saori and Katanas.
I have been thinking about my CHC (Cruise High Clipper) and what I plan to put on it.
It will be my final adventure ship and designed to do shipwrecks and fast sailing. When I do, I will pass my G3 4/5 Windjammer on to my alt. What I am thinking is to actually use HuseyinGazi's fusion service. It is listed on the Papaya forums under "Trade Market." With his fusion bonuses from Mayor and other things, he is much better equipped achieve successes when going high level G4+ fusions.I will have to start saving my pennies to come up with the 7B+ in costs to do a G6. It is best if I think about this for a while, as it will be a huge investment of time and money to make this ship. It also deserves a lot of time thinking where I will be, and what I will be doing (if anything) one year from now.At the top of the list is Shipwrecks and Adventure quests, and if speed or 10% adventure xp bonus is more valuable....
-------------
I take a liner out to EA, trade wine for tan rifles. I sail to SF, then train it to Boston again.
Today I picked the Tailor job thesis from Boston. After this one, I will have Casting / Cooking /Handicrafts and Sewing at R17 cap. Most of the other job theses, provide no current benefit as the skills that they give a higher cap to, Archeology, Appraisal etc, which I am not close to R16 yet.
-----------
Back to NA to collect berries for my quarters. My aide Caldina is level 50+ trade and can process berries 10 times per day.She uses up approximately 1000 berries turning them into 500 raisins. I have to do a EA run every 2 days to keep the raisins from hitting 5000.
----------
After filling my quarters it is back to collecting seaweed and grass for stomach meds. When I hit 3000 stomach meds, I will swap to alchemy and the Boston Alchemy thesis and make more headache meds. End of day, I am over 1500 stomach meds.
I pick up spice trader's growth thesis at Boston, then when I am back in Europe I use up some PO4's at Palma and worked up my spice trade to R10 and complete the thesis.
--------
More grass/seaweed-> stomach meds. I help another company mate get his casting from R1-R11 in a hurry. I get my company mate to make a ton of steel, cannonballs and eventually R11 cannons. I get myself organized and have one bazaars in Hamburg for him to buy ores from me (to make steel and cannonballs) and one at Manchester that I fill with the components he makes. When he is finished at R11 I move both my aide bazaars to Manchester. The only reason he did not get to R13, is that he kept getting disconnected. On the last disconnection, he did not come back on which put my off by 45 minutes since he had my metal book and my firearms book, so I had to sail to Lubec and Cueta to get another copy. At Manchester, I make make 23 x (18) Carronades, in the Steam Engineer job. It is the only job I can have R17 casting and R13 Management at the same time. The plan is to start doing Battle reports tomorrow, or Viking Event battles if any of my company mates want to give that a go.
-----------
End of day, I am over 1900 stomach meds and lots of carronades, ready for a Battle reports
I pick Sr. Officer research from Boston, and go to the Black Sea to start my Battle report. 1.5 battle reports completed and many hours of collecting seaweed on my alt as I worked my melee and cannon skills.
----------
End of day, I complete the Sr. Officer research and have over 2500 stomach meds.
Passed 400 Oxford Theses, and 50 Boston College Theses.
=======
July 2nd, Day 259
I complete my 2nd battle report of this series then sail back to Boston to pick up Cannoneer Research. I collect berries for my quarters and sail back to continue my battle reports. My alt Contra, is collecting seaweed all day again. Soon I will have 3000 stomach meds. I will have to stock a few thousand beakers, glassware and clay (for alchemy pots) as well. Then I will be ready to do another alchemy run; headache meds and furniture.
-------
With the cannoneer research, I complete my 3rd Battle report in the Black sea.
Early morning 12:00am I take the company liner with company mate that has opened EA and bribed officials, but not traded yet. I pull out 3000 raisins and make wine for myself, my alt and my company mate to trade in Nagasaki. The rates are not the best, but we use NPC's and get some Rifles, and I get Katanas in Sakai. On the way back, half way to San Francisco, I realize that my company mate has not unlocked SF and I do a 180. It ends up taking 78 minutes to sail from Hawaii to Seville, instead of 35 minutes using the SF/Boston train route (and that is with a 1h 30% speed booster.)
--------------
I do another BR in the Black Sea and collect seaweed all day with my alt.
-----------
I sail to Boston to invest in the Railways and to buy some bonanza boxes. I also get a free large gold nugget from the cheerful miner in Boston. We both have invested in the West Central Railway, (I have invested 700M so far.) The first effect of investing in the West Central is that Gold nuggets appraisals are higher. My nugget weighed in SF is, 6530g, which gets pretty much nothing. My alt gets a nugget weighing 15,900g which is about a 40 pound gold nugget. It is funny that I watch Yukon Gold and Gold Rush on the History channel and after a week of sluicing using rock trucks and D9 Backhoes, the cleanups (total gold) are not as good as this single nugget that the miner gave me for free! That nugget is about 640 oz or $800,000 USD at a rough price of $1250/oz. I trade in the nugget for a "Special Hardened Steel Armoring" +16-18, one of the best if not the best in the game. Incredibly I would need a 20,000g nugget to get a single headache medicine!
Another battle report in the Black Sea. The only thing to note is that with my plunder skill at R8 and in the Pirate thesis active I seem to be picking up PO 1's by melee/plunder which I have never seen before.
----------
After my battle report, I help another company mate regrind his casting after refining it in Russia. I set up two aide bazaars in Hamburg with a total of 16,000 ores and 4000 coal. He finished it all off and makes it back to R11+.
----------
I sail to NA. I invest in the rails again and pick up the Musketeer research thesis. At the end of the day I collect 1500 berries and sail back to Europe.
==========
July 5th, Day 262
Another boring BR in the Black Sea. Completed the Musketeer research thesis.
Another BR in the Black Sea. I invest in Railroads and collect in NA.
----------
I help another company mate get handicrafts From R1 to R10 I get my alt's Luxury trade to R7, and almost R9 alcohol trade.
-------
I am slowly wearing down my supply of carronades. I probably use 2.5 of them per battle report. It depends really on what job I am in and how many of the larger fleets I attack.
Comments
June 4th , Day 231
Step #1 of 7 (to make headache meds) is to collect and make
Seals of Sorcery. Step 2 is make Seals of Slyph.
Made collection R13. I spent over 12
hours collecting with main and alt. I am really exhausted, sailing around,
collecting, sailing. making seals. I collected white ore in North America to make
silver, Mandrake in North Africa, Salt in Porto and collected brine while
sailing.
-------
At the end of the day I have made 169
Seal of Slyph and have 149 Seal of Sorcery left over. This took roughly 4500 Salt, 2000 Silver,
2880 Mandrake (half of the salt was purchased) and 2000 wings of the eagle from
Cairo. I was not planning on the Seal of Slyph part today, but I wanted to test
the recipe and ended up making a lot of them.
June 5th, Day 232
Discovered Submarine Volcano (Natural
Phenomenon) 1240:3290. This is probably one of the easiest phenomenon to
discover. I sail past it all the time going from Alexandria to Istanbul all the
time.
-----------
I am getting better at optimizing the
collecting. When I go to North America, I bring 1000 salt and 800 mandrake with
me. After collecting lots of white ore and making 600 silver, I convert all of
it to Seals of Sorcery (consumables) and get down to 0 Cargo, before starting collecting
again and making whole new pile of silver.
Not an exciting day. Ended with 526 Seal
of Sorcery. Two more days more for collecting and making Seals and One and a
half days of collecting green ore and seaweed.
June 6th, Day 233
Another boring day .. 12 more hours of
collecting White ore for silver and Mandrake. My alt's seasoning trading is now
up to R6+2 from buying so much salt in Porto (From R2). I use Porto instead of
Barcelona because I can also pick up a lot of leather while I am there. This goes well with the excess vegetable oil
I collect in North Africa with the mandrake. I set up my base in Tunis where I
have an aide bazaar to store all of the excess goods. With the excess veg. oil
and leather, I make lots of high defense boots. 70d-90d and put them up for
sale in Seville. As I am investing 20m
in Railroads from my main and alt every day when I go to North America so the
boot sales keeps me from going broke.
---------------
Step 2 of 7 (to make heachache meds) is make Seals of Slyph
(bit more detail). With salt and seals of
scorcery, I sail to Cairo and stand at the item shop and buy multiple loads of Eagle's
wings.
At the end of the day I have 721 Seal of Slyph and 143 Seal of Scorcery
left over.
June 7th, Day 234
More collecting. I take
a detour to EA and change some raisins into wine and trade it. The reason is
that the product storage in quarters can only store 5000 of each good type and
I am around 4800 raisins.
----------
I have made and sold about 500m in boots
while collecting veg oil/mandrake, and buying salt/leather (Porto). I am up to
1.1B in coins, nothing close to the 20B+ needed for elite cash ships, but good
enough for me.
End of day, 1037 Seal of Slyph.
June 8th, Day 235
As part of the plan to make headache
medications, I will have to go to Atlantis if it is still available to get more
of Posideon's blessings. The key location to collect green ore is the Red Sea
West coast. The location is very close
to Istanbul if you go thru the Suez Canal, but you can only take goods thru
there with a Posideon's Blessing charm from Atlantis. I still have 3 from my last trip, but I need
to get another 3-4 to be able to get the 10-12,000 green ore thru the Suez.
---------
Tonight is the ESF which I wanted to participate
in, but I was not able to find the quest. The ESF help page seems clear, but
the npc who are supposed to have the quest for me do not have it. Somehow I
missed a step. Anyhow I keep on working towards headache meds. At the end of
the day i have1167 seal of Slyph.
June 9th, Day 236
I managed to find the ESF quest today. Belive
it or not, I'm fleeting with KillaDub, a very active and capable pirate of the
OGP age. Also in the fleet are AJ, Samantha99, ThomDan. Thanks to Seraph for
helping organize the stragglers like me. We did get owned a lot by ISSA and
KATTANA's fleet. I think in Fleet battles vs them we were 1-6 and the 1 was
because their admiral retreated after losing most of his fleet. AJ may have
been away for most of the battles, as he took no actions in the logs i
reviewed, but I hate to admit it, but
ISSA's fleet was faster and better than us.
----------------
I was also distracted for the first few
fights as I was not sure who our admiral was.
On the left side of the screen, the admiral usually has a head next to
his name and it is also who I follow, when you click follow admiral. During the
battles, if the admiral is following someone else in the fleet, that player
becomes admiral for the battle. I may
be wrong , but as far as I could tell, this is how it works and I was confused
when we lost the battle and the player who I thought was the admiral was not
sunk. It is also confusing when there
are more than one fleet in combat and the admiral of an allied fleet gets sunk.
I am not 100% certain, but this also seems to be the case. I will have to look
into it more.
------------------
More collections. End of day 1421 Seal
of Slyph
Jun 10th, Day 237
More collecting white ore in Newfoundland
to make silver. Made collection R14, then off to complete the charting of the
North West Passage and level Adventure. Completed Arctic/Beaufort/Barrow Seas
and used a Pegasus Feather to return to the colony port. Made Adventure level 79. I will spend some time and scour the
Seville markets to get some equip and prep to do land battles tomorrow. I need
a club/bow/crossbow/gun and handgun to work on those weapon techs R2 once the
Thanksgiving festival starts. The plan
is 3-4 days of land battles in NA once that starts.
-----------------
Helped another company mate get his
casting skill from R10 to R12. I made it from mineral trade R13 to R14base+6
(boots, gold staff and silver earrings)
1604 Seal of Slyph.
79/81/76
Jun 11th, Day 238
A break on preparing for headache meds.
Was out most of the day. I loaded up on
weapons and 1-2 pieces of junk armor. The only interesting thing I did was get the Caravanner Job Card. I assigned
my alt the Admiral's of the fleet, so I could take the quest, as he has the
animal trading skill.
-----------
Thanksgiving festival started today so I
will go to NA, collect and do as many land battles as I can.
=========
June 12th, Day 239
Since the NA festival is on, the break
from collecting for headache meds will be 3 days.
Helped out three new company members get
set up in North America for the festival then worked on Bows and rifle
techs/finesse while doing land battles. I picked up Tech #76? (New Sure Arrow.) Nothing
special about the land battles, just boring and tedious working xp for
adventure and maritime. I did about 300 battles and ended with 9/4/9 in bow
finesse ranks and 8/4/9 in Gun finesse ranks.
June 13th, Day 240
Mostly out all day since there was an
update in the middle of the day. I got on in the evening to continue my land
battles. I managed a record 13tech chain. An
11 chain nets approximately 214 finesse points.
The maximum is 230 at 12. At 13, it is the same 230 finesse points.
========
June 14th, Day 241
I now have the finesse skills for all
the R2 Gun(rifle) techs, but I also need R3 gunfire to get them. I will have to temporarily get the skill and
a +3 Gunfire item, then come back and do more gun grinding to pick up the 3 R2
Gun techs. Fortunately, I already have the musketeer and Brigand Jobs, which
specialize in gunfire. I sail to Boston, switch jobs and with my Mogul gun +1
gunfire, I am already R3 gunfire. Take a
train it back to NA Southeast coast and more land battles. I did about another 100+ land battles, but I
did not get any new gun techs. My gun finesse ranks end at 8/10/12, enough to
get all R2 gun (rifle) techs.
Jun 15th, Day 242
The Thanksgiving festival is over so I
bring back a load of berries to store in quarters to process into raisins. Then
I head to Africa North Coast to start collecting Mandrake again. I will be back
on prepping for Headache Meds for 5-6 days. On Monday (3 days from now) I will
do my Atlantis solar barca quests again and go to Atlantis, for the purpose of
getting some Posideon's Blessings.
------------
After filling my bazaar with 1500
Mandrake, I decide to go to San Juan and get
the Money Trader job card. My alt
started at R1+4 and ended with R4+4. It will be quicker to load up on silver
for the Seal of Slyphs and I can save collecting in NA for berries instead of
white ore.
My alt also made R12 Food Trading and R8
Seasoning Trading while buying food/salt in Porto. I make another 100 Seal of
Slyphs. I have over 1700 now.
----------
I spent part of the day helping one
company mate work is Handicrafts skills and showing him how to make improved
defense boots. I also help another company mate skill his sewing skills. My
textile skill makes it to R11+2 refined.
79/81/76
Jun 16th, Day 243
I am back in NA Southeast coast picking
up some berries, Santo Domingo, for some Silver and Boston to invest in railroads.
Back to Europe to fill my office storage with berries and aide bazaar with silver. I do a EA run today because my raisins have
hit the 5000 max in product storage. I bring back 1900 Japanese Rifles and 1600
Saori. My alt made Trade 74, so he is close to sailing the Windjammer and I
will have to make my Cruise High Clipper for Shipwrecks soon.
-------------
I set my alt to collect more mandrake
and I go off to do some dungeons. I need to get some PO2s and 3's back as well
as hopefully getting a R2 rifle tech. I do 10 more runs of Bordeaux dungeon and
obtain Tech #76 Trick shot. I forgot
where I was, so I split them up and counted again. I think I was off by one
from my previous count.
18 Trap Techs/6 Merchandise Techs/52
Weapon Techs
----------
Today is my first Academy Debate. They
happen on the 3rd weekend of each month. Saturday 5pm-7:30pm and Sunday
10am-12:30. My stunning opening record is 2 wins-13 losses. I think building a
random deck is NOT good. You have to pick cards that are similar in location
and properties, (to get bonuses when played together).. well live and learn. I
earned a little xp and fame for my 2 lucky random wins. One more thing off my Record/Challenge
mission.
Jun 17th, Day 244 Happy Father's Day
Out most of the day. Collecting in NA. There is a request to
invest in a specific rail line. Taking the train allows you to invest in the
named Rail line multiple times. The bonus for this rail is not so good, but I do 20M investment anyways. Sorry I forgot
to write down the name of the rail line. I put berries in quarters. Helping
some company mates grind casting again and make some more Seal of Slyph. I have
over 2000 now.
Jun 18th, Day 245
The Boston Thesis boost is on Jun
13th-July 11th. It says the number of theses you can write is increased by
100%. What it really means is that you get to write twice the normal pages for
a successful action. So for if your
fishing and get a normal fish that gives you 1 pages, it would give you 2 pages
instead. In essence you complete the thesis in half the time. While in at
Boston I switched to the fisher job and sailed back and forth between Boston
and NA East coast and while I did my collection thesis. It only took about 3
minutes to complete a thesis! (Exotic fruit count as a great success and 100
pages of a 1000 page thesis, so you only have to get 10 of those and the thesis
is done.
Including the sailing from Boston o NA
East coast I would say a thesis takes 7-8 minutes to complete.
--------
Well I do have to write more on this. I
continue to do Boston College Thesis and find that building #2 opens up after
only 12 submissions. 13-14 Theses
submitted opens up Boston College skill slot #2. I activate the fisher 1 Boston skill (gives
me a chance to catch an extra fish while fishing, above the field studies +2. I
am going to check the old chicken/egg cooking trick to see if it works here.
---------
Today was supposed to be Atlantis day,
but since the chicken/egg thesis works in Boston, I'm going to grind the heck
out of Boston College. I take the title of cooking meister and away I go. I have personally moved the total theses
submission up by 160 points. This morning it started below 3000, it currently
stands at 3,167/20,000. (2 points per submission, I did 80 theses between my
main and alt.) I think the 20,000 is the number of thesis submissions needed before Boston allows players to have
access to Building #3. I now have 3 Boston College skill slots. The other two
besides the fisher 1 bonus, is cook skill 1, which allows R17 base cooking
skill and, fisher 2 skills, which makes the cool down time between fishing
attempts shorter. A rough calculation is
one fishing action/10 seconds with this Boston college skill on, and one
fishing action/12 seconds without it. (my alt and I had a fishing competition).
Between my main and alt, we earned over 50,000 college credits in four hours. I
could have done more, but I got bored and was already at the max 60k credits
and my alt, was near max too.
---------
I did manage to get the 3 Atlantis
quests done, while I sent my alt to start collecting green ore in the Red Sea
West coast lading. This is another component to continue the next step in the
process for headache meds. Seal of Slyph
+ 10Green ore +
---------
Went to Atlantis. I picked up the
"Ancient technolgy research" quest (slot #3) by trading/delivering
100 wares. I then proceeded to see how
far I can make it in the endless dungeon with the Deepseeker title on. I made
it to level 21 in the endless dungeon.
I went in with a great warrior spear and light armor, 94a 74d. I did not do enough battles to complete the
quest, but it is really easy to finish and is reported back at your capital.
There are many ways that you can get progress in the research, but I like to do 100 land battles to complete the
research, and they can be done anywhere vs. even the easiest npc's.
-------
I pick up the "crystal of
blessing" while in Atlantis. One at the temple of Posiedon, and one at the
port. These can be used in different methods to get different effects. I use
them and ask for Posideon's blessing which will allow me to sail back and forth
thru a canal with 1000 trade goods for ONE
HOUR. I will explain how I do this tomorrow.
Jun 19th, Day 246
I have a very long day planned. 14h or
so of activity.
NA, Collecting berries for quarters and
turning rocks into crystal. After that, I sailed to Red Sea (Step 3a of 7 for headache meds) and
started collecting green ore. While I was at the landing area, I did some
land battles to complete my Atlantis quest, researching mysterious goods and
picked up Tech #77, Triple shot.
-----------
I take approximately 3800 green ore from
Red Sea West coast and set up my alt's aide bazaar in Suez. I stock it with
1800 ore. With the crystal blessing from Atlantis, I take 1000 ore thru the
canal and put it into my main's aide bazaar which I set up in Cairo. I sail
back and pick up the next 1000 ore from my alt in Suez... thru the canal and
put it into the bazaar in Cairo.. back thru to Suez and take 1000 more ore from
the alt's Cairo bazaar. I sail thru the canal with my alt who is now empty. In
Cairo, I transfer the 1000 ore to him and sail back thru the canal to Suez and
buy the last 800 ore from my alt's bazaar and take the last trip thru the canal
to Cairo. This works with EA goods as
well, but this trip is a huge shortcut as the recipe I need to use is in my
quarters in Istanbul at the alchemy test kiln. Step #3b of 7 (for headache meds) Make Gaseous Drugs. I take all
the goods I collected and start making gaseous drugs.
----------------
Made marching R11.
---------------
Some players ask, how do you get to
level 80 adventure? ..... Wind god's charm just prior to reporting a sea zone
then chart the next zone and also report it.
15,840 Adventure xp. for 1 sea zone chart. 50% Papaya bonus, 10%
Exploration ship refit Adventure, +50% wind god's charm. 15,979xp for South
Pacific Ocean Basin, 16,123xp South Pacific East, South Pacific North 16,264xp,
Samoan Sea Basin 16,408xp.
I made Level 80 Adventure.
Charting, collection in NA during the Thanksgiving Festival and land battles
during the festival are the top three ways to make adventure xp. Some players
get discouraged charting the first few areas because the xp starts so small,
but as you can see, keep at it and it ends pretty high. Even without the
bonuses, those zones are 8k each.
259/297 areas charted.
80/81/76
June 20, Day 247
Another green ore collection day to make
gaseous drugs. When my quarters is filled with gaseous drugs, I bring a load of
crystal from Seville and (step 4 of 7
for headache meds)make test tubes and distillers. I continue with (step #5 of 7 for headache meds) make Ventus Reductions. The Gaseous
drugs are trade goods (not consumables) so they cannot be stored at the bank
and I can only fit 999 in my quarters goods storage. I process as much as I can
and at the end of Day I have 850 Ventus Reductions.
June 21, Day 248
More Green ore collecting, more gaseous
drugs. More crystal (from Seville bazaars), more ventus reductions. My plan is
to be done by June 23-24th so I can spend a day grinding my alt's craft trade
just prior to the 26th. On the 26th there will be a EA trade good available in
San Francisco again, and I hope to take advantage of it.
----------
(Step 6a of 7 for headache meds), collect Seaweed and Grass.
Step 6b Make stomach Meds. My calcs are wayyyyy off.
I will have around 2600 gaseous drugs, which will end up as 5200 Ventus reductions. I have no chance to
make 6x that many stomach meds so I stop at 4000 Ventus reductions. I have to
look into shared storage as there I will need 6x that many stomach meds. (24,000 stomach meds! will require an
astounding 144,000 seaweed and 96,000 grass!!!
Holy crap thats a lot of collecting to do and there is no way I will get
that done before the 27th(when the skill boost ends), especially if I take a
day to do the Nanban goods from San Francisco on the 26th. I have
5 days to get it done, and there won't be any time left for any battle reports,
or even to do the planned unlock grind with archive maps from India.. I am
going to have to do the headache meds in multiple rounds.
June 22, Day 249
I can collect 330 seaweed in 1h per
toon, 660 for 2 toons = 165 stomach meds. Maybe I can make 200 stomach meds per
hour if I turn on college great success 3 and 4. That is still 120 hours just to collect the
seaweed I am going to need. I also
bought and activated shared storage. It is like having an extra ship cargo hold
that allows you to store 5000 trade goods of any combination up to 50 goods. I
will not be able to store more than approximately 4800 stomach meds. 1000 in
each bank, quarters, and 400 iventory on each toon. I will also be able to
store 12,0000 seaweed which should convert into another 2000 stomach meds.
--------------
Got the Alchemy job card from
Alexandria, 3m to change jobs, otherwise it would be 60M!
-------------
I
will be getting a lot of sobers as the regular success of this recipe, so I
will do another of the Elite tricks. I have to criedit Juicebox on Ivyro for
posting about this .
Tip of the Day using
sober and stomach meds is a fast way to give your aide xp sailing bonus days.
You can cap it out at 100 days by buying special course meals. (check out ivyro
under "sober." I will give you
the first one mentioned Cueta/Seville Liquer, Tortilla, bachalau croqutte,
Chicken Paella, milk. Has a % chance of
giving your aide a +2-3 sailing day bonus.
When your drunk or full, use the stomach meds or sober and keep going. I
don't know if there is a restriction on the meals, but i had success on 2 out
of the first 5 meals.(3 days of sailing bonus per success) After that I failed
15 times in a row so I stopped.
-----------
I did my first run at the recipe to try
and get headache meds. Here are the results.
-----------
Step 7 of 7 for headache meds.
90 alchemy test kiln experiments.. 90 fails. Here is what I posted in the forums under bugs.
-----------
Ok I have the skills R8+2 and all the
materials to do a test kiln experiment.
6 stomach meds + funnel + ventus reduction.
I did the experiment 100 times.. ALL
FAILED.
this can't be right. It used up
materials .. and wore down my kiln durability,
but zero results, not even the common
regular success. of "sober"
I am trying to make (great success) headache
meds.
Ventus Reducitons are NOT easy to make and
I just blew 90 of them.
Thanks for looking into this.
-----------
I corrected myself after checking the
results and made another post saying I only did 90 experiments.
Extra info that I did not post. The kiln is
a +2 "normal" test kiln, not the basic +1 kiln nor the +3 storage
adv. kiln. I was in the alchemist job, with base R8 alchemy using an academic
tam +1 and emerald tablet +1 total R8+2 alchemy, to do a R10 alchemy recipe. I
have college skill, increase production success rate 4 active. When I did each
experiment, the message was either 70x "nothing changed" (only part
of the components were used up, usually the ventus reduction) or 20x "your
materials have undergone a violent reaction in the course of the experiment and
vanished" (all components are used up)
---------
I think a hold on the alchemy
experiments is in order until I get a reply in the bugs forum... I will most
likely work on craft trading and the EA goods in SF on the 26th and also use
all the extra time to do battle reports in the Black Sea.
Jun 23, Day 250
Frustrated with the results of my
headache meds, I sail to NA to collect and fill my quarters with berries. While
collecting berries, I decided to think/test
out my other theories, when I go back to Istanbul to deliver berries. I started by using the other R10 Recipes at
the kiln, they use distillers instead of funnels and I got 3 successes 1 great
success and 1 fail on 5 tries. I think I
found the problem. I scanned down to the
recipes that needed a test tube or funnel.. and found the recipes that I wanted
were in the lower section... and that
section needs a lab bench instead of a test kiln! Now I still think there
is a glitch, because when I was not equipped with my tam (hat) and emerald
tablet (only R8) it says no recipes are available at the kiln. When I equip
them, the experiment shows up at the kiln with the funnel or test tube.. but
they should not show up here. I should not get any recipes or it should show a
blank where the testing equipment shows up as I was only carrying funnels and
you cannot use funnels with stomach meds to make anything at a kiln.
-----------
I set off to Cairo for the experimental
equipment book, then to Beirut for some steel and lumber and go to Venice to
make myself a couple lab benches.
----------
After installing the lab bench at my
quarters. I proceed with my experiments!
(Step 7 of 7 make headache meds 2nd attempt)
6 stomach meds + 1 funnel +1 ventus
reduction for each experiment
here are the results
800 experiments; (4800 stomach meds +
800 funnels + 800 ventus reductions)
approx 50% 395 fails or (great fails
damage lab bench)
approx 34% 273 success (sober x 6)
approx 9% 74 success (strange powder x
2)
approx 7% 58 Great Success (Headache
meds x 3)
800 ventus reductions used
800 funnels used
2400 Stomach meds used (not the expected
4800, regular fails do not use meds, only solutions and funnels.) Nice!
I am ready for one run to India to pick
up 30 unlock treasure maps!
-----------------
I spent the rest of the day grinding
alchemy skills making lab benches.
Made Alchemy R9. Wares Trading R12 (buying lumber/steel/paper in Beirut)
Jun 24, Day 251
Made handicraft R16+2 refined, from
making so many beakers/test tubes/distillers etc. Today will be my last day of
Alchemy. The plan is Alchemy R10, so I can make +3 trade goods benches and make
a couple for myself and other company mates.
The recipe I am still grinding is lab benches which is glassware->beakers,
lots of MCCT's and Lumber for processed lumber.
-------
My alt is now R6+6 Craft trade, which i
think is good enough to use with PO 3's if there are crafts as the EA good in
SanFran on Tuesday. I have been grinding
craft trade in conjunction with wares trade to grind alchemy. The lab benches
require large quantities of glassware which can be purchased in Venice and
Naples. He is using "line of Chieftain
clothing" +2, coral earrings +2 and college trade skill (category 3) +2,
to get the total +6 in crafts.
---------
Enough grinding of that for this skill
boost. I will do a quick run to EA to unload some raisins which have topped out
at 5k in my quarters. I trade for saori
and tan rifles. On the way back, I stop at Calicut and use 15 headache meds and
pick up about 15 unlock treasure maps.
End of day, I make Alchemy R10 and Handicraft R16+2 refined, and level 82 Trade
80/82/76
Jun 25th, Day 252
EA goods in San Francisco. Today it is
Paper lanterns. They are sundries and use PO1's. My sundries trading skill is
R6+6. The good thing is that, PO1's also restock food/livestock as well as
sundries and are 5 types of foods in SF. My current Food trading skill is R12.
-------------
End of day made R15 Food trading on my
alt, then went to refine it in St. Petersburg.
I bought and sold probably 30,000 paper
lanterns from an aide bazaar in Boston at 30k each. if you take into account how many PO1's I
used, I estimate that I netted around 700M that day.
-----------
Caribbean and East Coast of NA is safe
waters, but it ended when I was at St. Petersburg. Now the pirates are out in
force around Boston.
------------
I go to NA Newfoundland and bring some
lumber and iron ore, to restock my completely depleted MCCT stock. I probably
made and used 4000 of them while grinding alchemy lab benches. After making 800
MCCT I switch to collect 1500 berries to put back into quarters storage.
-----------
I participated in the Seville->Jaffa
race because I was going to Beirut anyways. I placed 45 and 43rd with 9:40 and
9:35. I start my unlock grind by collecting high level unlock maps in
Alexandria.
Jun 26th, Day 253
A day to collect archive maps and work
unlock. I used approximately 150 headache meds collecting unlock maps. I checked out Ambon which has over
79,000 development, but the culture/business and maritime development are very
low still, only the cultural development is around 10k. It needs items delivered
and discovery cards reported there to boost the culture before the scholar
shows up. There is no carpenter, sculptor, painter, archives, weaponsmith,
sailmaker or craft shop yet. Ambon/Ternate are by far the best locations to get
maps to grind high level unlock, as there are four separate unlock R12 maps
there that you can collect in one session of browsing, and they all unlock at
the same location; Australia North West coast.
I end up spending most of my time in Calicut
archives looking thru appraisal maps and art maps. (Tip
of the day must have an alt to do this, as I think you cannot get the same
map from the scholar, if you have the same map in your inventory, so you have
to pass it to your alt or bank. Even then it took a lot of moving inventory
around) After i get to Appraisal R11, I switch to collecting art maps. After collecting 31 art maps, I use a +50% skill boost and unlocked all of
the art maps. In two trips, I unlocked 36x R13 in Persian Gulf North and 27x R9
in Central Nile river. The Persian gulf
maps have an added bonus that the item you discover is a R3 unlock chest which gives extra unlock xp when you open it.
--------
On a side note, every session of
browsing gives me approximately 75 xp in the type of book I am browsing. (with
the 50% skill boost) 150 sessions of browsing books gives approximately 11,200
xp in art/appraisal
---------
End of day I made Appraisal R11...Unlock R10... Art R10
Jun 27th, Day 254
Last day for the xp and skill boost. I
only need to finish my 40 last headache meds, which will put me close to R11
unlock.
--------
fan of sandalwood+1 sociability, +1
provisions, gold scarab +2 Bio, Indian Calico Shawl +1 appraisal, +1 art;
ancient epic poem +1 archeology; persian dress +1 evasion; talwar +2 swordplay,
+1 plunder. I threw away as many as 20 of each, as you get some combination of
these items, not just one when unlocking maps.
----------
Doing these unlock maps has given me a new respect/perspective on being
Turk/Ottoman. One thing that I found extremely useful is the ability to use
the Suez Canal, then take the camel ride from Suez to Basra, then go to Persian
Gulf North, or India. Basra to India is only 3 tow permits or 9-10 minutes
sailing depending on the winds. Cairo to
Calicut in 10 minutes is something I will have to think about.
------
Five minutes before the server update I
finished all the unlock maps that I had, and got to 8431 /10,000 thru unlock
R11.
----------
After the update I will take stock of
where I am in cash and goods inventory.
June 28th, Day 255
---------
A day to collect and restock items;
berries for raisins, white ore for MCCT's, seaweed for stomach meds, deck
brushes, rat poison, landmark ribbons.
---------
Best tip in the game, bar none. One of my company mates was asking about the chicken/egg
college thesis trick posted on Day 244. I
do not know who first came up with it, but it is not a hard trick to figure out
yourself if you have the books. The prerequisites are, livestock book
(poultry), R1 cooking, travelers food procuring book, storage R2, and two
chickens or eggs and a LOT of vigor food. The explanation goes like this take
chickens and the poultry book, step 1 process the chickens into eggs, step 2,
take the storage book and process the eggs into chickens; repeat. It helps tremendously
to be
a Meister. The production gives anywhere from 1.2 to 1.5 goods back
depending on refined/active college skills, so after 10+ cycles, you should be
at 100's of eggs/chickens. From there you can stand next to the scholar and
keep taking the building 1 cooking thesis and do one thesis per 100' eggs or
chickens. Step 3, During Thanksgiving, you will understand why this is the best
tip in the game. If you figure it out send me a tell in game.
----------
While in Boston I pick up the Artisan's
research 1 theme. I will try to do a new one of these every day, until I have
completed them all.
---------
Did a quick run to EA and loaded up on
Saori and Katanas.
Jun 29th, Day 256
I have been thinking about my CHC
(Cruise High Clipper) and what I plan to put on it.
It will be my final adventure ship and
designed to do shipwrecks and fast sailing. When I do, I will pass my G3 4/5
Windjammer on to my alt. What I am thinking is to actually use HuseyinGazi's
fusion service. It is listed on the Papaya forums under "Trade
Market." With his fusion bonuses from Mayor and other things, he is much
better equipped achieve successes when going high level G4+ fusions. I will have to start saving my pennies to
come up with the 7B+ in costs to do a G6.
It is best if I think about this for a while, as it will be a huge
investment of time and money to make this ship. It also deserves a lot of time
thinking where I will be, and what I will be doing (if anything) one year from
now. At the top of the list is
Shipwrecks and Adventure quests, and if speed or 10% adventure xp bonus is more
valuable....
-------------
I take a liner out to EA, trade wine for
tan rifles. I sail to SF, then train it to Boston again.
Today I picked the Tailor job thesis
from Boston. After this one, I will have Casting / Cooking /Handicrafts and
Sewing at R17 cap. Most of the other job
theses, provide no current benefit as the skills that they give a higher cap
to, Archeology, Appraisal etc, which I am not close to R16 yet.
-----------
Back to NA to collect berries for my
quarters. My aide Caldina is level 50+ trade and can process berries 10 times
per day. She uses up approximately 1000
berries turning them into 500 raisins. I have to do a EA run every 2 days to
keep the raisins from hitting 5000.
----------
After filling my quarters it is back to
collecting seaweed and grass for stomach meds. When I hit 3000 stomach meds, I
will swap to alchemy and the Boston Alchemy thesis and make more headache meds.
End of day, I am over 1500 stomach meds.
Jun 30th Day 257
-------
I pick up spice trader's growth thesis
at Boston, then when I am back in Europe I use up some PO4's at Palma and worked
up my spice trade to R10 and complete the thesis.
--------
More grass/seaweed-> stomach meds. I
help another company mate get his casting from R1-R11 in a hurry. I get my
company mate to make a ton of steel, cannonballs and eventually R11 cannons. I
get myself organized and have one bazaars in Hamburg for him to buy ores from
me (to make steel and cannonballs) and one at Manchester that I fill with the
components he makes. When he is finished at R11 I move both my aide bazaars to
Manchester. The only reason he did not get to R13, is that he kept getting
disconnected. On the last disconnection, he did not come back on which put my
off by 45 minutes since he had my metal book and my firearms book, so I had to
sail to Lubec and Cueta to get another copy. At Manchester, I make make 23 x
(18) Carronades, in the Steam Engineer job. It is the only job I can have R17
casting and R13 Management at the same time.
The plan is to start doing Battle reports tomorrow, or Viking Event battles
if any of my company mates want to give that a go.
-----------
End of day, I am over 1900 stomach meds
and lots of carronades, ready for a Battle reports
July 1st, Day 258.
I pick Sr. Officer research from Boston,
and go to the Black Sea to start my Battle report. 1.5 battle reports completed
and many hours of collecting seaweed on my alt as I worked my melee and cannon
skills.
----------
End of day, I complete the Sr. Officer
research and have over 2500 stomach meds.
Passed 400 Oxford Theses, and 50 Boston
College Theses.
=======
July 2nd, Day 259
I complete my 2nd battle report of this
series then sail back to Boston to pick up Cannoneer Research. I collect
berries for my quarters and sail back to continue my battle reports. My alt
Contra, is collecting seaweed all day again. Soon I will have 3000 stomach
meds. I will have to stock a few thousand beakers, glassware and clay (for
alchemy pots) as well. Then I will be ready to do another alchemy run; headache
meds and furniture.
-------
With the cannoneer research, I complete
my 3rd Battle report in the Black sea.
-------
End of day made Maritime Level 77.
80/82/77
July 3rd, Day 260
Early morning 12:00am I take the company
liner with company mate that has opened EA and bribed officials, but not traded
yet. I pull out 3000 raisins and make wine for myself, my alt and my company
mate to trade in Nagasaki. The rates are not the best, but we use NPC's and get
some Rifles, and I get Katanas in Sakai. On the way back, half way to San
Francisco, I realize that my company mate has not unlocked SF and I do a 180.
It ends up taking 78 minutes to sail from Hawaii to Seville, instead of 35
minutes using the SF/Boston train route (and that is with a 1h 30% speed
booster.)
--------------
I do another BR in the Black Sea and
collect seaweed all day with my alt.
-----------
I sail to Boston to invest in the
Railways and to buy some bonanza boxes. I also get a free large gold nugget
from the cheerful miner in Boston. We both have invested in the West Central
Railway, (I have invested 700M so far.) The first effect of investing in the
West Central is that Gold nuggets appraisals are higher. My nugget weighed in SF is, 6530g, which gets
pretty much nothing. My alt gets a nugget weighing 15,900g which is about a 40
pound gold nugget. It is funny that I
watch Yukon Gold and Gold Rush on the History channel and after a week of
sluicing using rock trucks and D9 Backhoes, the cleanups (total gold) are not
as good as this single nugget that the miner gave me for free! That nugget is about 640 oz or $800,000 USD
at a rough price of $1250/oz. I trade in the nugget for a "Special
Hardened Steel Armoring" +16-18, one of the best if not the best in the
game. Incredibly I would need a 20,000g nugget to get a single headache
medicine!
---------
I pick up the Pirate thesis while in
Boston.
---------
End of day 3360 Stomach meds.
July 4th, Day 261
Another battle report in the Black Sea.
The only thing to note is that with my plunder skill at R8 and in the Pirate
thesis active I seem to be picking up PO 1's by melee/plunder which I have
never seen before.
----------
After my battle report, I help another
company mate regrind his casting after refining it in Russia. I set up two aide
bazaars in Hamburg with a total of 16,000 ores and 4000 coal. He finished it
all off and makes it back to R11+.
----------
I
sail to NA. I invest in the rails again and pick up the Musketeer research
thesis. At the end of the day I collect 1500 berries and sail back to Europe.
==========
July 5th, Day 262
Another boring BR in the Black Sea.
Completed the Musketeer research thesis.
Alt collecting seaweed and grass again.
July 6th, Day 263
Another BR in the Black Sea. I invest in
Railroads and collect in NA.
----------
I help another company mate get
handicrafts From R1 to R10 I get my alt's Luxury trade to R7, and almost R9
alcohol trade.
-------
I am slowly wearing down my supply of
carronades. I probably use 2.5 of them per battle report. It depends really on
what job I am in and how many of the larger fleets I attack.
----------
I make Trade level 83.
80/83/77
