I pick up the Supply Corps research thesis while in Boston. Invest in Rails and collect 1500 berries for my quarters.
-----------
Back to the Black Sea for another battle report. This time as in Supply Corps Job. The thesis is done in 5 battles with Sinop fleet (3). Even though the thesis is complete, I stay in the job and work my surgery, repair and arms skills. One of the bad things about working surgery is that I cannot really work assault at the same time. I spend a lot of time meleeing the 3's and 4 fleets. Since assault is maxed at R10, I do not use the skill. I focus on just taking casualties and retreating. It works oddly well. When my crew gets low, I retreat, repair my boat and heal my crew and let them come back at me again. The worst part it really the damage my ship and gear takes from getting shot up while in melee. I use up over 600 MCCT's repairing my ship and will have to do a run to Newfoundland to get white ore to make more. I lost 3 plates, 3 guns, the one sail i had on my ship and my boots and spear took a ton of damage as well.I make Arms R6 and Maritime level 78.
----------
I check the nanban merchant by the company offices and decide to do another EA run. Sakai is in War status and the alcohol backstock line is near the bottom. Liner to EA (35 minutes). Activate a +30% speed boost. Sail to Sakai from the liner cities Pohang for my alt and Macau for me. (5 minutes) Take 1800 raisins out of product storage convert to 3000 wine. Use two Nanban Purveyor Certificates and trade for 1400 saori and 1600 Japanese paintings (15 minutes). In a few more trips, my alt will also have Saori opened in Sakai. Sail to SF (22 minutes), carriage and train to Boston. Muck around in Boston for 5 minutes and pick up the next thesis (5 minutes). Sail to Seville (12 minutes). Total turnaround time for the EA trip 94 minutes. The time is way under two hours and if I want I can just sell off all the goods and take the next liner back to EA!
Before I start the next battle report, I switch to shipwright. I spend 20 minutes crashing my boat into the rocks and repairing it. Shipwright's Influence thesis is complete.I switch to cannoneer and do TWO battle reports in the Black Sea. I make Surgery R7 and Accuracy R12. Nice!
---------
Off to North America to invest in railroads and collect white ore this time. My maritime boat is taking a beating from all these battle reports and I need to make and replace all the MCCTs I use up every BR.
==========
July 9th, Day 266
Another BR. Today I actually fleeted with a pirate who asked me to join.I am not sure if I have written about this before so excuse me if it is a repeat of a prior post. ...I still get pirated by player pirates about once per week and I just use a fine tribute and keep going so I normally ignore pirates. I don't respond after I tribute them. Most don't say much, but some like to talk smack. I just ignore it. My philosophy is that the game is what you make of it and different players consider different things "winning." A good example is that some of the players in my company like to socialize. They win just by coming on, relaxing and chatting with other company members. That's it. Others like to exert as much power and influence over others by playing pirates. Some small group of those pirates win by annoying other players as much as they can, by using smack talk and such. It is that group I generally ignore.Even if they get some money from me, they do not win as I am not annoyed by them at all. I do consider them to be a feature of the game. Pay my 1M ducats and sail on. The pirate whom I fleeted with I have seen in the Black sea for the last week doing battle reports and so I didn't really think about it too much, I just said sure and did about 1/3 of a BR with him. (completed the current one I was doing.)
Another BR. Not much to talk about, was in cannoneer job and worked cannon skills. I will make level 79 maritime on the next BR.
--------
Took the company liner to EA. Pulled 1600 raisins out of product storage and made wine. I traded for 1600 Tan Rifles and 1300 Saori. I sailed to SF and Trained to Boston, sailed to Seville.
--------
Tip of the day...Over to NA to collect berries to fill my quarters storage. When processing goods in quarters storage (assuming your aide is already set to process), you can actually have zero goods (berries) in quarters trade goods storage, fill it up first, THEN click on quarters info, and your berries will get immediately processed. If you click on quarters info first, it will try to process whatever you have in your quarters trade goods storage, and it will say due to lack of goods to process, nothing was processed.
Another BR. I make maritime level 79.Just in time too. I have no more spare carronades. It is time to switch to shipbuilding and adventure mode. The next short term goal is to do adventure quests while sailing around and making/collecting parts for my final Adventure ship, a Cruise High Clipper, which requires maritime level 75 to sail.
--------------
After the "supposed" update from 2-5pm, the game was still down. From what I read, it was up shortly but was giving out duplicate goods from the new "Treasure Cove" system that is replacing the Captain's tickets. The game was taken down and stayed down for the rest of the day.It did not come back online until near the end of the day around 11-12pm.
A day to get organized. I reviewed my college skills and found that I was missing a whole pile of building #2 Trade theses. I spent the afternoon completing those. At the end of that, I had 421 Theses complete and 51 college skills acquired.
------------
I went to Boston , invested in Railroads, picked up the Ocean Explorer growth then went to NA SE coast to collect berries.
==========
July 13, Day 270
Retuned to Europe and dropped off a load of berries and started to collect geography maps. First real day of doing adventure quests again. I did a circuit around Europe discovering archive maps and made my way back to Boston. I completed the Ocean Explorer research and picked up the same research again. I wanted to pick up a new research, but none have recognition and geography which is what I am focused on.
I take a quest going to Lima which is a good choice since it has recently been opened.
HuseyinGazi posted on the forums a week ago and asked the population to push for the development of Ambon and Lima. Both were without banks and scholars. With his organizing, we were able to develop them enough in ten days to get the scholar and bank. Now I can go to Ambon and farm unlock maps (when I make my next set of headache meds.)
------------
End of day, passed 1350 discoveries. Made Geography R10 and Recognition R9.
Picked up the thesis for court gardener in Boston. In the morning I completed the thesis sailing around Portobelo, Santo Domingo and Rio de Janeiro.
--------
The ESF is on and I didn't consider joining. I did not want to stop adventuring and build some carronades and armor. If the ESF was a week earlier as was scheduled on the Uncharted Waters Wiki "Railway Events"I would have taken a break from battle reports to join in, but I am fully in adventure mode and don't want to break out of it.
--------
In the afternoon, I didquests from Cape going to Calicut to meet a company mate and help her get the spice trader job. From there I continued to do my adventure quests towards SEA. I picked up a new quest not on Ivyro from Jakarta and it ends up taking me to Siberia! Since my alt has not opened the NE passage, when I sailed past Japan, I left him in Nagasaki to pull some raisins and trade wine for Tan Rifles. He sailed to SF while I went to Siberia. After completing the quest I continued on and landed at Boston!
Jakarta to Boston in 90 minutes (around/over Russia route) with a 30% speed boost. The Jakarta to SF train to Boston route is probably 25 minutes.
---------
I picked up the next Thesis, Treasure Hunter research.Collect my berries and head back to Europe.
A day of Art quests. I stayed in Europe until i completed Treasure Hunter research. Took the liner to the Caribbean and did more biology quests.
-----------
End of day, passed 1380 discoveries.
=========
July 16th. Day 273
I think the NA festival will start today at 10pm.
I return to Europe and spend most of the day just doing easy quests, mostly low level language quests. These are the typically the annoying language only quests that are slotted somewhere in a quest chain that must be done before you can continue the chain.
-----------
to stack up on guns/rifles and bows for the land battle grind.
----------
The Thanksgiving festival started at 8pm so I make my way to NA with a load of rifles, a couple (hand) gun and crossbow. I do about 300 land battles and my collections. I am close to making adventure level 81.
I start off with more land battles with handgun and rifle. I learn Trick Shooter, Tech #78 , and New Strange shot, tech #79. I sail to Boston to get tow permits and to visit Ben Franklin, change jobs and pick up another thesis.
----------
My alt finally makes storage R15 so we sail back to Europe and drop some berries and go refine storage for the alt.
----------
End of day I finish another 500 land battles and make adventure level 81.
Gun (Rifle) finesse are 8/10/12. My handgun finesse are 8/10/17.
I figured out a quirk in the game mechanics and will be trade Level 84 today. I also did an astounding 40 thesis in Boston +30k credits (maxed at 60k again). I do not want to give out the blueprint for these two, but if you have followed along, there are a few clues in previous writings on how to be able to do this without killing your fingers and mouse buttons.
----------------
After 40 theses, I take a train to NA SE coast to work my finesse and hopefully to pick up a new tech. I am using bows and Crossbows.
I continue working my trade xp, theses in Boston. In the afternoon I work on more land battles hoping to pick up all of the second level techs. Messed up and found out I need snipe R3 to get the level 2 crossbow techs, so I go to SF scholar and remove north American Language and equip Snipe, currently at R4.I do many fights and on several, I get 13 in a chain and have both of my toons get 230 finesse points for a single fight, 12th hit is 230 (max).
Thanksgiving Festival is over in North America. It is time to do adventure quests again.
I have a busy day irl so I plan to just do low level and language quests in Europe and take advantage of the restocked tow permits from the NA festival.
-----------
Not much to report as even though I probably did 10+ quests, there were no discoveries
for the filler language quests.
=============
July 21, Day 278
I helped a company mate make 10 master carronade 18's then switched back to adventure quests. Was busy most of the day again so I ended the day in NA collecting berries for quarters and investing in Rails. Not much to report.
Took a break from adventures to show a company member how to take a liner and open up EA. We did a trade and took the Japan->SF-> Boston->Lisbon route back.
----------
Made a fishing discovery of "Gibberfishes" at 12120:4030 just North East of Vera Cruz. Ended making R11 Art and passed 1400 discoveries.
===========
July 23rd, Day 280
Collected berries, invested in Railroads, then sailed back to Europe to put berries in quarters.Started again on adventure quests. Autosailed most of the day. Nothing of note.
Since I have invested over 900m in the West Central Railroad (increases gold nugget appraisal value) and the find a gold vein event is on in North America. I started off by trying out some gold mining. My alt who has invested 500M in the same railroad did not do nearly as well. In 20 minutes of mining my main had gold fever status 3 times while my alt had 0.When I pulled my first large nugget, I sailed back to SF to have it appraised. 12,000g. The top end trade items were not very good (just western wear style clothing) I decided not to continue. I collected berries in NA East coast and sailed back to Europe.
-----------
After filling my quarters, I did a few cooking theses with my alt to get him the item improvement techniques college skill. Then shifted to buying leather and collecting vegetable oil. Boot making in the afternoon.
----------
After more adventure quests I end up taking a quest from Lima going to EA, so I put my alt on a company liner and meet up in Nagasaki. We run into pirates leaving EA with a load of goods. Once back in Europe, I decided to do a few dungeons. I need to make some Fine tribute (large) for players, since I am low and need to replenish my stock. My plan is to get some PO 2's and 3's ahead of the next EA goods appearing in SF and to hopefully get some gold. I picked up "New Trick Draw" Tech #83, while running Bordeaux dungeon.
------------
End of day, passed 1420 Discoveries and 410 Ruin Exploration Rate.
There was an update today. The most significant thing is a note that on August 1st. The game will now allow pirating with the 1h restriction removed. This means that a trader can be pirated multiple times if staying in a zone. (I assume the 5 minute green flag will still exist)
----------
With the pirate restriction dropping from 24h to 1h last month, and now going to 5 min in August, I make sure I did a few quest going to the Caribbean then NA so I could collect white ore and logs. I turn the white ore into diamonds and logs into lumber. With some gold from the shops in Seville, I keep restocking my fine tribute for large ships (player tribute.)I believe that these items will go way up in value in 1 week.
More adventure quests. I did the Green Egg quest again that needed the Scholar in Lima to complete.
--------
More collecting White ore in Newfoundland while I am in the Americas. I make 10 more fine tribute for large ships.
========
July 27th. Day 284
I am out most of the day so spend a lot of my time collecting vegetable oil.I spend some time boot making. I make 3 pairs of boots for sale 70-80d boots.
---------
I do a few more discoveries.
-----------
I end the day back in NA collecting berries. Discoveries is at 1440.
I always found it confusing what"Main","Sub 1", "Sub 2" meant and "released from the main as a starting point with benefit 2, benefit 4, benefit 6 etc.
First you have to know that each railroad has 3 benefits, a Main, a Sub1 and Sub 2.
What it means is that when you invest in a railroad, the "Main" benefit is given to you when you hit the investment amount given for each benefit level ie. Main benefit #1 for investment amount #1; the Main benefit #2 for investment amount #2.
The Sub1 benefit #1, is given when you are also given the Main #2 benefit, and Sub1 benefit #2 is given when you reach the Main #4 benefit.
ie. I invested 1B in West Central Railroad and unlocked Main benefit #8 (larger gold nugget appraisal) and Sub1 #4 benefit (open North America SE coast as a train destination) at the same time.
----------
Back to NA to make more boots to sell.
--------
I get my alt to gear up and do crafts trading, while I spend some time running Bordeaux to collect more PO's . Although I am not working on it, I made Gunfire R5. What I am doing really, is preparing for the Nanban Goods to appear in San Francisco two days from now. Discovered Tech #84 New Charge Bullet.
-------
Fishing on my way to NA I discovered Scombrops Boops (marine life)at 13680:2995
-----
I get my alt's Craft Trade to R7 and Seasoning Trade to R9.
One prediction for tomorrow. The goods that appear in SF are ones that are unlocked by cultural points in each area. ie. Wuxu porcelain, Korean Black Raspberries, Paper lanterns etc. So I checked my spreadsheets for all of these types of goods and came up with6 PO#1 goods 2 PO#2 goods, 5 PO#3 goods and 0 PO #4 goods. There are a few goods that can appear that I will not do well with. PO #3 Art, and PO #1 Medicine (of which I have no skill) My guess is one of the Taiwan goods since Taiwan has not appeared yet.
-------
Did one Battle report with a fleet of 5 with company mates. They used a lot of AOS instead to work Arms skill, so we fought a lot of large fleets.
Spent the rest of the day doing Bordeaux dungeons collecting PO's
Good guess. The EA good is Water Caltrop, one of the two Taiwan goods. Since it is mostly valuable in EA for trading in the other three EA zones or Africa West Coast, I will not be setting up any bazaars.I sail to Newfoundland and collect white ore for diamonds.
-----------
Post Edit, I have a funny comment on if Soft Rush ever shows up. There is a shortcut combo, if you have invested 400M in the Central River railroad to unlock NA SE coast, and Soft Rush shows up. You can buy lots of it and take a railroad to NA SE and sail a very short distance maybe 3-4 minutes to Havana, Santiago (Caribbean) and sell the goods for full price +40k each. This would be an amazing shortcut to a fortune.
----------
I work on metal Trade but don't get too far. Cities only have 1 metal, but can get 2 if you invest and the city is already developed enough. Havana is not developed so it only has silver. I buy lots of gold dust and turn it into gold at Havana so I can make more Tribute. I switch to mineral trade and wares trading. I also have lots of PO 2's and 3's that I did not use for the EA goods in SF.
-----------
Starting tomorrow the green flag after being pirated will drop to 5 minutes if you use a tribute, 1 minute if you escape, 10 minutes if you are actually defeated (hostile waters.)I do not plan to spend much time in lawless waters, but will try to
1) stay in obscure areas and do adventure quests
2) stay in Europe and work trade and alchemy
3) work on techs.
-------
End of day I make R13 wares trade, R15 mineral trade, refine it and get it back to R7.
Out most of the day again.I spend a few hours grinding my Wares and Mineral trade.
I refined my mineral trade and get back to R7+2 refined and get my wares trade up to R13.
------
There are CA games on today with Bingo and an auction of several decent ships.
I do a few adventure quests and pick up white ore for more diamonds.
--------
End of day i have 100+ Fine Tribute for large ships (player). I am ready for 3 weeks of random pirates.EA is safe waters, I may be spending lots of time there doing adventure quests.
I was in Boston at the start of the day 12:00.. for railroad investment but found out that there is no investment allowed due to the current Train event... free trains. As I left 5 minutes later, I was hit by a pirate. Nice!
----------
In the morning, I was out. When I got back the update was underay 2:30-6:30. The new chapter, "Order of the Prince" is being installed. Unrestricted PvP and unlimited shipbuilding. I talked about the PvP before, but not the shipbuilding. From what I can read, you can build any ship with Skill rank R1 and you can now modify a ship with more improvements than normally possible. Also 22 more quest and 3 more archive maps were added.I will have to look into this new shipbuilding, as I have still to make my endgame adventure ship and endgame maritime ship.
---------
I am very low on funds and decide to start making and selling boots. For a time, I will have to focus on making money instead of skills. I need to have 1b or more to make the upgrades that I want to make on my new ships. At the same time I will slowly start collecting parts for the ships.
-------
Made 3 sets of boots for sale and put them up in an aide bazaar.
I took some time to think about the effects of unlimited modifications to a ship. I posted a question to the general forums for clarification on unlimited mods regarding increased level requirements for sailing ships with modifications over the normal limit. I will post here if I get an answer.
------------
Did a few quests and got my alt to grind his cooking to R15. He is ready to be a Grand meister of chickens on August 10th or so.
---------
End of day passed 1450 discoveries.
==========
August 3rd, Day 291
Helped a company mate grind storage in NA.Then worked on adventure quests from India, SEA, EA then brought a load of EA goods (Japanese Books) thru San Francisco. I set up an aide bazaar in Seville again and then started making boots again. I am slowly working up the bank account.
My aide bazaars sold all of the Japanese books that I put up for sale, so I am off to EA again. I hop on a liner to EA. I leave from Lisbon and end up in Macau. My alt leaves from Seville and ends up in Pohang. The liner to Pohang is more useful as it is more centrally located and has the option of being a good iron ore collection city and an excellent place to set up your aide bazaar to store goods to unlock all of EA.
-----------
While checking out if there was any liner to SEA or India (which would be my preference) where I could take an adventure quest that goes to EA where I want to go anyways I found that there is a new city added to the game. The city is Sagres and there are liners from every capital going there.
---------
After returning from EA, I set up my aide bazaars again with Japanese Paintings then went back to NA to collect 1500 berries for tomorrow's raisin production.
After returning and filling my quarters with berries, I started doing adventure quests again.
Picked up a few quests going to cape, then from India to EA. While passing Gia Dihn, I discoveredNaga Fireball (natural phenomenon) at 4925:4390. From EA, I picked up another load of goods (Tan Rifles) and sailed to SF.I did a few more discoveries.
----------
End of day I passed 1480 discoveries. 1.2B
=========
August 6th, Day 294.
I found out that one of our company Shipbuilders has a mayorship and was discussing grading a ship to G5 or G6. Even though I can make the ship and grade, the bonus for mayor makes it worth while for me to get this person to work on grading the ship. The approximate cost for the grading will be 3-5B, depending on a bit of luck.I told her that I would be making money for the next 3 weeks or so and should have close to that amount by Aug 27th which would give her 3 days to grade the ship.
-----------
Refilled my quarters with berries then took the company liner out to EA to do another run.3500 tan Rifles from Japan this time.
----------
Back in Europe, I made 4 pairs of boots for sale then went back to doing more adventure quests.
----------
End of day 1490 discoveries, and made R10 Fabric trading, R12+2 refined textile trading. 1.4B Ducats saved up.
Refill my berries in my quarters, then start again on more adventure quests. I go for a world tour again stopping in Lisbon, Seville, Naples, Istanbul, Cairo, Calicut, Manilla, Macau and Sakai. I pick up a load of Copper from Manilla and trade it in Macau, and continue my tour from Sakai to SF, Boston then back to Seville.
----------
End of day I pass 1500 Discoveries and am getting close to level 82 adventure. A few more days and I will be there.
I set up and help a friend grind casting from Hamburg.
---------
After that, I do more adventure quests, ending up in North America SE coast to make a discovery.I stay and collect 1500 berries and then sail to Boston and invest in Railroads. There is an update going on right now for 2h so I am here writing up this today's log. After the update, I sail back to Europe to restock my quarters and do more adventure quests.
-------
I take quest that take me thru Suez/India/Jakarta/Korea. I pick up a load of EA goods and sail back to Europe via SF/Boston. I am still on a steady pace of around 10 quests per day. Now and then I have to do a few more filler "non discovery" quests, but the pace is ok and I don't get too bored.
-------
End of day I am up to 1.7B ducats, 1510 discoveries.
for the new update " blessing of Sargas" there is a huge bonus for new and low level/skill players. I will be working on any of my skills that are below R8.
-----------
I seem to have found a fairly efficient cycle for one day. From NA, Invest in Railroads, Collect berries, stock quarters, update farms, do adventure quests going from Lisbon to Istanbul, thru Suez, Aden,Calicut, Jakarta, (pick up copper in SEA, with refined mineral trade) EA, Trade for goods and or take raisins from quarters to make/trade wine, SF-train-Boston, back to Europe, set up aide bazaars with EA goods, quest going back to Caribbean/North Americal. This of course is a non event day and gets disrupted by any events that are going on like the low level, player and skills boost. So in today's cycle, I stopped in the Caribbean at the end and did some metal trading and got my alt's metal trade to R6.
--------
End of day 1520 discoveries, Made Adventure level 82!
Out most of the day. I started with investing in Boston and berry collection in NA East Coast. I managed to return, load up the quarters with berries.
--------
then the Maris server went down for 3h or so.
------
When it came back on, I did a standard world tour doing adventure quests and bring a load of EA goods back.I did about 5 instead of 10 quest today with the server down time.
----
ESF is also off due to "glitches in the Matrix." It will be postponed until next weekend.
The server went down again. I do not know for how long as I went to sleep and it was still off.
-------
Back on and took a quest that needed me to talk with a character who gave bonus' for reporting ports, so I used a booster, changed jobs and reported 130 ports. I made sociability R7.
----------
NA to collect berries. Back to Europe, loaded my quarters with berries, then did my usual tour around the world and quest along the way. Same deal, Loaded up with Copper ore with my refined mineral trade in Brunei. Then traded in Taiwan, and sailed to SF. I found out that the NA Thanksgiving Festival has started !
---------
I have to go to Seville to put all my goods in an Aide Bazaar and sell them for cheap. Next I pick up some bows in Marseilles, and Rifles in Naples, chickens, and a full load of aide food in Lisbon and sail back to Boston.
I (my alt) is ready for a full day of "Master of Chickens!!" and I (my main) is ready for land battles.
Started with production in Boston College. I made eggs and chickens until my 4th aide made level 44 trade and so he can sail a TLG. All his stats are 100's now too. While that was going on, I helped a few other new company members set up to collect in NA. My alt's personal message is "Master of Chickens", Mine is "GranMeister of Eggs" (hint)
---------
While my alt continued to process in Boston, I took a train to NA SE and started my land battles.I picked up Tech #85 New Charge & Release (bow R2 power tech.)
At the end of the day I did about 200 land battles. My alt ended up at trade level 78.
Comments
July 7th, Day 264
I pick up the Supply Corps research
thesis while in Boston. Invest in Rails and collect 1500 berries for my
quarters.
-----------
Back to the Black Sea for another battle
report. This time as in Supply Corps Job.
The thesis is done in 5 battles with Sinop fleet (3). Even though the
thesis is complete, I stay in the job and work my surgery, repair and arms
skills. One of the bad things about working surgery is that I cannot really
work assault at the same time. I spend a lot of time meleeing the 3's and 4
fleets. Since assault is maxed at R10, I do not use the skill. I focus on just
taking casualties and retreating. It works oddly well. When my crew gets low, I
retreat, repair my boat and heal my crew and let them come back at me again.
The worst part it really the damage my ship and gear takes from getting shot up
while in melee. I use up over 600 MCCT's repairing my ship and will have to do
a run to Newfoundland to get white ore to make more. I lost 3 plates, 3 guns,
the one sail i had on my ship and my boots and spear took a ton of damage as
well. I make Arms R6 and Maritime level 78.
----------
I check the nanban merchant by the
company offices and decide to do another EA run. Sakai is in War status and the
alcohol backstock line is near the bottom.
Liner to EA (35 minutes). Activate a +30% speed boost. Sail to Sakai
from the liner cities Pohang for my alt and Macau for me. (5 minutes) Take 1800
raisins out of product storage convert to 3000 wine. Use two Nanban Purveyor
Certificates and trade for 1400 saori and 1600 Japanese paintings (15 minutes).
In a few more trips, my alt will also have Saori opened in Sakai. Sail to SF
(22 minutes), carriage and train to Boston. Muck around in Boston for 5 minutes
and pick up the next thesis (5 minutes). Sail to Seville (12 minutes). Total
turnaround time for the EA trip 94 minutes.
The time is way under two hours and if I want I can just sell off all
the goods and take the next liner back to EA!
80/83/78
July 8, Day 265
Before I start the next battle report, I
switch to shipwright. I spend 20 minutes crashing my boat into the rocks and
repairing it. Shipwright's Influence thesis is complete. I switch to cannoneer and do TWO battle
reports in the Black Sea. I make Surgery R7 and Accuracy R12. Nice!
---------
Off to North America to invest in
railroads and collect white ore this time. My maritime boat is taking a beating
from all these battle reports and I need to make and replace all the MCCTs I
use up every BR.
==========
July 9th, Day 266
Another BR. Today I actually fleeted
with a pirate who asked me to join. I am
not sure if I have written about this before so excuse me if it is a repeat of
a prior post. ...I still get pirated by player pirates about once per week and
I just use a fine tribute and keep going so I normally ignore pirates. I don't
respond after I tribute them. Most don't say much, but some like to talk smack.
I just ignore it. My philosophy is that the game is what you make of it and
different players consider different things "winning." A good example
is that some of the players in my company like to socialize. They win just by
coming on, relaxing and chatting with other company members. That's it. Others
like to exert as much power and influence over others by playing pirates. Some
small group of those pirates win by annoying other players as much as they can,
by using smack talk and such. It is that group I generally ignore. Even if they get some money from me, they do
not win as I am not annoyed by them at all. I do consider them to be a feature
of the game. Pay my 1M ducats and sail on.
The pirate whom I fleeted with I have seen in the Black sea for the last
week doing battle reports and so I didn't really think about it too much, I
just said sure and did about 1/3 of a BR with him. (completed the current one I
was doing.)
July 10th, Day 267
Another BR. Not much to talk about, was
in cannoneer job and worked cannon skills. I will make level 79 maritime on the
next BR.
--------
Took the company liner to EA. Pulled
1600 raisins out of product storage and made wine. I traded for 1600 Tan Rifles
and 1300 Saori. I sailed to SF and Trained to Boston, sailed to Seville.
--------
Tip of the day...Over to
NA to collect berries to fill my quarters storage. When processing goods in quarters storage (assuming
your aide is already set to process), you can actually have zero goods (berries) in quarters trade goods storage, fill it up first, THEN click on quarters info,
and your berries will get immediately processed. If you click on quarters info first, it will
try to process whatever you have in your quarters trade goods storage, and it
will say due to lack of goods to process, nothing was processed.
July 11, Day 268
Another BR. I make maritime level
79. Just in time too. I have no more
spare carronades. It is time to switch
to shipbuilding and adventure mode. The next short term goal is to do adventure
quests while sailing around and making/collecting parts for my final Adventure ship,
a Cruise High Clipper, which requires maritime level 75 to sail.
--------------
After the "supposed" update
from 2-5pm, the game was still down.
From what I read, it was up shortly but was giving out duplicate goods
from the new "Treasure Cove" system that is replacing the Captain's
tickets. The game was taken down and stayed down for the rest of the day. It did not come back online until near the
end of the day around 11-12pm.
80/83/79
July 12, Day 269
A day to get organized. I reviewed my
college skills and found that I was missing a whole pile of building #2 Trade
theses. I spent the afternoon completing
those. At the end of that, I had 421 Theses complete and 51 college skills
acquired.
------------
I went to Boston , invested in
Railroads, picked up the Ocean Explorer growth then went to NA SE coast to
collect berries.
==========
July 13, Day 270
Retuned to Europe and dropped off a load
of berries and started to collect geography maps. First real day of doing
adventure quests again. I did a circuit around Europe discovering archive maps
and made my way back to Boston. I completed the Ocean Explorer research and
picked up the same research again. I wanted to pick up a new research, but none
have recognition and geography which is what I am focused on.
I take a quest going to Lima which is a
good choice since it has recently been opened.
HuseyinGazi posted on the forums a week
ago and asked the population to push for the development of Ambon and Lima.
Both were without banks and scholars. With his organizing, we were able to
develop them enough in ten days to get the scholar and bank. Now I can go to Ambon and farm unlock maps
(when I make my next set of headache meds.)
------------
End of day, passed 1350 discoveries.
Made Geography R10 and Recognition R9.
July 14, Day 271
Picked up the thesis for court gardener
in Boston. In the morning I completed the thesis sailing around Portobelo,
Santo Domingo and Rio de Janeiro.
--------
The ESF is on and I didn't consider
joining. I did not want to stop adventuring and build some carronades and
armor. If the ESF was a week earlier as was scheduled on the Uncharted Waters
Wiki "Railway Events" I would
have taken a break from battle reports to join in, but I am fully in adventure
mode and don't want to break out of it.
--------
In the afternoon, I did quests from Cape going to Calicut to meet a
company mate and help her get the spice trader job. From there I continued to
do my adventure quests towards SEA. I picked up a new quest not on Ivyro from
Jakarta and it ends up taking me to Siberia!
Since my alt has not opened the NE passage, when I sailed past Japan, I
left him in Nagasaki to pull some raisins and trade wine for Tan Rifles. He
sailed to SF while I went to Siberia. After completing the quest I continued on
and landed at Boston!
Jakarta to Boston in 90 minutes (around/over
Russia route) with a 30% speed boost. The Jakarta to SF train to Boston route
is probably 25 minutes.
---------
I picked up the next Thesis, Treasure
Hunter research. Collect my berries and
head back to Europe.
-------
End of day, exactly 1370 discoveries.
July 15th, Day 272.
A day of Art quests. I stayed in Europe
until i completed Treasure Hunter research. Took the liner to the Caribbean and
did more biology quests.
-----------
End of day, passed 1380 discoveries.
=========
July 16th. Day 273
I think the NA festival will start today
at 10pm.
I return to Europe and spend most of the
day just doing easy quests, mostly low level language quests. These are the typically the annoying language
only quests that are slotted somewhere in a quest chain that must be done before
you can continue the chain.
-----------
to stack up on guns/rifles and bows for
the land battle grind.
----------
The Thanksgiving festival started at 8pm
so I make my way to NA with a load of rifles, a couple (hand) gun and crossbow.
I do about 300 land battles and my collections. I am close to making adventure
level 81.
----------
End of day I have 1390 discoveries.
July 17th, Day 274
I start off with more land battles with
handgun and rifle. I learn Trick
Shooter, Tech #78 , and New Strange shot, tech #79. I sail to Boston to get
tow permits and to visit Ben Franklin, change jobs and pick up another thesis.
----------
My alt finally makes storage R15 so we
sail back to Europe and drop some berries and go refine storage for the alt.
----------
End of day I finish another 500 land
battles and make adventure level 81.
Gun (Rifle) finesse are 8/10/12. My
handgun finesse are 8/10/17.
81/83/79
July 18th, Day 275.
I figured out a quirk in the game
mechanics and will be trade Level 84 today. I also did an astounding 40 thesis
in Boston +30k credits (maxed at 60k again).
I do not want to give out the blueprint for these two, but if you have
followed along, there are a few clues in previous writings on how to be able to
do this without killing your fingers and mouse buttons.
----------------
After 40 theses, I take a train to NA SE
coast to work my finesse and hopefully to pick up a new tech. I am using bows
and Crossbows.
81/84/79
July 19th, Day 276
I continue working my trade xp, theses
in Boston. In the afternoon I work on
more land battles hoping to pick up all of the second level techs. Messed up
and found out I need snipe R3 to get the level 2 crossbow techs, so I go to SF
scholar and remove north American Language and equip Snipe, currently at
R4. I do many fights and on several, I
get 13 in a chain and have both of my toons get 230 finesse points for a single
fight, 12th hit is 230 (max).
Obtained new jump arrow strike (Tech #80), Trick Bolt (Tech #81) Triple arrow
strike (Tech #82)
----------
End of day, I finish another 300 land
battles. My bow finesse is 10/7/9. My crossbow finesse is 5/8/10. At 110 Boston
Thesis. I make trade level 85.
81/85/79
July 20th, Day 277
Thanksgiving Festival is over in North
America. It is time to do adventure quests again.
I have a busy day irl so I plan to just
do low level and language quests in Europe and take advantage of the restocked
tow permits from the NA festival.
-----------
Not much to report as even though I
probably did 10+ quests, there were no discoveries
for the filler language quests.
=============
July 21, Day 278
I helped a company mate make 10 master
carronade 18's then switched back to adventure quests. Was busy most of the day
again so I ended the day in NA collecting berries for quarters and investing in
Rails. Not much to report.
July 22nd, Day 279
More adventure quests.
---------
Took a break from adventures to show a
company member how to take a liner and open up EA. We did a trade and took the
Japan->SF-> Boston->Lisbon route back.
----------
Made a fishing discovery of "Gibberfishes" at
12120:4030 just North East of Vera Cruz. Ended
making R11 Art and passed 1400 discoveries.
===========
July 23rd, Day 280
Collected berries, invested in Railroads,
then sailed back to Europe to put berries in quarters. Started again on adventure quests. Autosailed
most of the day. Nothing of note.
------------
End of day passed 1410 discoveries.
July 24th, Day 281
Since I have invested over 900m in the
West Central Railroad (increases gold nugget appraisal value) and the find a
gold vein event is on in North America. I started off by trying out some gold
mining. My alt who has invested 500M in
the same railroad did not do nearly as well. In 20 minutes of mining my main
had gold fever status 3 times while my alt had 0. When I pulled my first large nugget, I sailed
back to SF to have it appraised. 12,000g.
The top end trade items were not very good (just western wear style
clothing) I decided not to continue. I collected berries in NA East coast and
sailed back to Europe.
-----------
After filling my quarters, I did a few
cooking theses with my alt to get him the item improvement techniques college
skill. Then shifted to buying leather and collecting vegetable oil. Boot making
in the afternoon.
----------
After more adventure quests I end up
taking a quest from Lima going to EA, so I put my alt on a company liner and
meet up in Nagasaki. We run into pirates leaving EA with a load of goods. Once
back in Europe, I decided to do a few dungeons.
I need to make some Fine tribute (large) for players, since I am low and
need to replenish my stock. My plan is to get some PO 2's and 3's ahead of the
next EA goods appearing in SF and to hopefully get some gold. I picked up
"New Trick Draw" Tech #83, while
running Bordeaux dungeon.
------------
End of day, passed 1420 Discoveries and
410 Ruin Exploration Rate.
July 25th, Day 282
Did a few more dungeon runs in Bordeaux.
------------
There was an update today. The most significant thing is a note that on
August 1st. The game will now allow pirating with the 1h restriction
removed. This means that a trader can be
pirated multiple times if staying in a zone. (I assume the 5 minute green flag
will still exist)
----------
With the pirate restriction dropping
from 24h to 1h last month, and now going to 5 min in August, I make sure I did
a few quest going to the Caribbean then NA so I could collect white ore and
logs. I turn the white ore into diamonds and logs into lumber. With some gold
from the shops in Seville, I keep restocking my fine tribute for large ships
(player tribute.) I believe that these
items will go way up in value in 1 week.
---------
End of day 1430 Discoveries
July 26th, Day 283
More adventure quests. I did the Green
Egg quest again that needed the Scholar in Lima to complete.
--------
More collecting White ore in
Newfoundland while I am in the Americas.
I make 10 more fine tribute for large ships.
========
July 27th. Day 284
I am out most of the day so spend a lot
of my time collecting vegetable oil. I
spend some time boot making. I make 3 pairs of boots for sale 70-80d boots.
---------
I do a few more discoveries.
-----------
I end the day back in NA collecting
berries. Discoveries is at 1440.
July 28th, Day 285.
More berries in NA, Double investing in
railroads. Now I finally understand what
the
Japanese Wiki Page on investing in
Railroads means.
http://gvo.gamedb.info/wiki/?TranscontinentalRailroad
I always found it confusing what "Main", "Sub 1", "Sub 2" meant
and "released from the main as a starting point with benefit 2, benefit 4,
benefit 6 etc.
First you have to know that each
railroad has 3 benefits, a Main, a Sub1 and Sub 2.
What it means is that when you invest in
a railroad, the "Main" benefit is given to you when you hit the
investment amount given for each benefit level ie. Main benefit #1 for
investment amount #1; the Main benefit #2 for investment amount #2.
The Sub1 benefit #1, is given when you are
also given the Main #2 benefit, and Sub1 benefit #2 is given when you reach the
Main #4 benefit.
ie. I invested 1B in West Central
Railroad and unlocked Main benefit #8 (larger gold nugget appraisal) and Sub1
#4 benefit (open North America SE coast as a train destination) at the same
time.
----------
Back to NA to make more boots to sell.
--------
I get my alt to gear up and do crafts
trading, while I spend some time running Bordeaux to collect more PO's .
Although I am not working on it, I made Gunfire R5. What I am doing really, is
preparing for the Nanban Goods to appear in San Francisco two days from now. Discovered Tech #84 New Charge Bullet.
-------
Fishing on my way to NA I discovered Scombrops Boops (marine life)at
13680:2995
-----
I get my alt's Craft Trade to R7 and
Seasoning Trade to R9.
End of Day Ruin Exploration rate is 440.
July 29th. Day 286.
I am ready for tomorrow's EA goods in
SF.
---------
One prediction for tomorrow. The goods that appear in SF are ones that are
unlocked by cultural points in each area. ie. Wuxu porcelain, Korean Black
Raspberries, Paper lanterns etc. So I checked my spreadsheets for all of these
types of goods and came up with 6 PO#1
goods 2 PO#2 goods, 5 PO#3 goods and 0 PO #4 goods. There are a few goods that
can appear that I will not do well with. PO #3 Art, and PO #1 Medicine (of
which I have no skill) My guess is one
of the Taiwan goods since Taiwan has not appeared yet.
-------
Did one Battle report with a fleet of 5
with company mates. They used a lot of
AOS instead to work Arms skill, so we fought a lot of large fleets.
Spent the rest of the day doing Bordeaux
dungeons collecting PO's
End of day Ruin Exploration rate is 460.
July 30, Day 287.
Good guess. The EA good is Water
Caltrop, one of the two Taiwan goods. Since it is mostly valuable in EA for trading in the other three
EA zones or Africa West Coast, I will not be setting up any bazaars. I sail to Newfoundland and collect white ore
for diamonds.
-----------
Post Edit, I have a funny comment on if Soft
Rush ever shows up. There is a shortcut combo, if you have invested 400M in the
Central River railroad to unlock NA SE coast, and Soft Rush shows up. You can
buy lots of it and take a railroad to NA SE and sail a very short distance maybe
3-4 minutes to Havana, Santiago (Caribbean) and sell the goods for full price
+40k each. This would be an amazing
shortcut to a fortune.
----------
I work on metal Trade but don't get too
far. Cities only have 1 metal, but can get 2 if you invest and the city is
already developed enough. Havana is not developed so it only has silver. I buy
lots of gold dust and turn it into gold at Havana so I can make more Tribute. I
switch to mineral trade and wares trading. I also have lots of PO 2's and 3's that I did
not use for the EA goods in SF.
-----------
Starting tomorrow the green flag after
being pirated will drop to 5 minutes if you use a tribute, 1 minute if you
escape, 10 minutes if you are actually defeated (hostile waters.) I do not plan to spend much time in lawless
waters, but will try to
1) stay in obscure areas and do
adventure quests
2) stay in Europe and work trade and
alchemy
3) work on techs.
-------
End of day I make R13 wares trade, R15
mineral trade, refine it and get it back to R7.
July 31,
Day 288
Out most of the day again. I spend a few hours grinding my Wares and
Mineral trade.
I refined my mineral trade and get back
to R7+2 refined and get my wares trade up to R13.
------
There are CA games on today with Bingo
and an auction of several decent ships.
I
do a few adventure quests and pick up white ore for more diamonds.
--------
End of day i have 100+ Fine Tribute for
large ships (player). I am ready for 3 weeks of random pirates. EA is safe waters, I may be spending lots of
time there doing adventure quests.
August 1, Day 289
I was in Boston at the start of the day
12:00.. for railroad investment but found out that there is no investment
allowed due to the current Train event... free trains. As I left 5 minutes
later, I was hit by a pirate. Nice!
----------
In the morning, I was out. When I got
back the update was underay 2:30-6:30. The new chapter, "Order of the
Prince" is being installed. Unrestricted PvP and unlimited shipbuilding. I
talked about the PvP before, but not the shipbuilding. From what I can read,
you can build any ship with Skill rank R1 and you can now modify a ship with
more improvements than normally possible. Also 22 more quest and 3 more archive
maps were added. I will have to look
into this new shipbuilding, as I have still to make my endgame adventure ship
and endgame maritime ship.
---------
I
am very low on funds and decide to start making and selling boots. For a time,
I will have to focus on making money instead of skills. I need to have 1b or
more to make the upgrades that I want to make on my new ships. At the same time
I will slowly start collecting parts for the ships.
-------
Made 3 sets of boots for sale and put
them up in an aide bazaar.
August 2, Day 290
I took some time to think about the
effects of unlimited modifications to a ship. I posted a question to the
general forums for clarification on unlimited mods regarding increased level
requirements for sailing ships with modifications over the normal limit. I will
post here if I get an answer.
------------
Did
a few quests and got my alt to grind his cooking to R15. He is ready to be a
Grand meister of chickens on August 10th or so.
---------
End of day passed 1450 discoveries.
==========
August 3rd, Day 291
Helped a company mate grind storage in
NA. Then worked on adventure quests from
India, SEA, EA then brought a load of EA goods (Japanese Books) thru San
Francisco. I set up an aide bazaar in Seville again and then started making
boots again. I am slowly working up the bank account.
--------
End of day passed 1460 discoveries.
August 4th, Day 292
My aide bazaars sold all of the Japanese
books that I put up for sale, so I am off to EA again. I hop on a liner to EA.
I leave from Lisbon and end up in Macau. My alt leaves from Seville and ends up
in Pohang. The liner to Pohang is more useful as it is more centrally located
and has the option of being a good iron ore collection city and an excellent
place to set up your aide bazaar to store goods to unlock all of EA.
-----------
While checking out if there was any
liner to SEA or India (which would be my preference) where I could take an
adventure quest that goes to EA where I want to go anyways I found that there
is a new city added to the game. The
city is Sagres and there are liners from every capital going there.
---------
After returning from EA, I set up my
aide bazaars again with Japanese Paintings then went back to NA to collect 1500
berries for tomorrow's raisin production.
After returning and filling my quarters
with berries, I started doing adventure quests again.
----------
End of day I passed 1470 discoveries.
Aug 5th Day 293
Picked up a few quests going to cape,
then from India to EA. While passing Gia Dihn, I discovered Naga Fireball (natural phenomenon) at
4925:4390. From EA, I picked up another load of goods (Tan Rifles) and sailed
to SF. I did a few more discoveries.
----------
End of day I passed 1480 discoveries.
1.2B
=========
August 6th, Day 294.
I found out that one of our company
Shipbuilders has a mayorship and was discussing grading a ship to G5 or G6.
Even though I can make the ship and grade, the bonus for mayor makes it worth
while for me to get this person to work on grading the ship. The approximate
cost for the grading will be 3-5B, depending on a bit of luck. I told her that I would be making money for
the next 3 weeks or so and should have close to that amount by Aug 27th which
would give her 3 days to grade the ship.
-----------
Refilled my quarters with berries then
took the company liner out to EA to do another run. 3500 tan Rifles from Japan this time.
----------
Back in Europe, I made 4 pairs of boots
for sale then went back to doing more adventure quests.
----------
End of day 1490 discoveries, and made
R10 Fabric trading, R12+2 refined textile trading. 1.4B Ducats saved up.
August 7th, Day 295
Refill my berries in my quarters, then
start again on more adventure quests. I go for a world tour again stopping in
Lisbon, Seville, Naples, Istanbul, Cairo, Calicut, Manilla, Macau and Sakai. I
pick up a load of Copper from Manilla and trade it in Macau, and continue my
tour from Sakai to SF, Boston then back to Seville.
----------
End of day I pass 1500 Discoveries and
am getting close to level 82 adventure. A few more days and I will be there.
August 8th, Day 296
I set up and help a friend grind casting
from Hamburg.
---------
After that, I do more adventure quests,
ending up in North America SE coast to make a discovery. I stay and collect 1500 berries and then sail
to Boston and invest in Railroads. There is an update going on right now for 2h
so I am here writing up this today's log. After the update, I sail back to Europe to
restock my quarters and do more adventure quests.
-------
I take quest that take me thru
Suez/India/Jakarta/Korea. I pick up a load of EA goods and sail back to Europe
via SF/Boston. I am still on a steady pace of around 10 quests per day. Now and
then I have to do a few more filler "non discovery" quests, but the
pace is ok and I don't get too bored.
-------
End of day I am up to 1.7B ducats, 1510
discoveries.
August 9th, Day 297
for the new update " blessing of
Sargas" there is a huge bonus for new and low level/skill players. I will be working on any of my skills that are
below R8.
-----------
I seem to have found a fairly efficient
cycle for one day. From NA, Invest in
Railroads, Collect berries, stock quarters, update farms, do adventure quests
going from Lisbon to Istanbul, thru Suez, Aden,Calicut, Jakarta, (pick up
copper in SEA, with refined mineral trade) EA, Trade for goods and or take
raisins from quarters to make/trade wine, SF-train-Boston, back to Europe, set
up aide bazaars with EA goods, quest going back to Caribbean/North
Americal. This of course is a non event
day and gets disrupted by any events that are going on like the low level,
player and skills boost. So in today's
cycle, I stopped in the Caribbean at the end and did some metal trading and got
my alt's metal trade to R6.
--------
End of day 1520 discoveries, Made Adventure level 82!
82/85/79
August 10th, Day 298
Out most of the day. I started with
investing in Boston and berry collection in NA East Coast. I managed to return,
load up the quarters with berries.
--------
then the Maris server went down for 3h
or so.
------
When it came back on, I did a standard
world tour doing adventure quests and bring a load of EA goods back. I did about 5 instead of 10 quest today with
the server down time.
----
ESF is also off due to "glitches in
the Matrix." It will be postponed until next weekend.
I wonder if the NA festival will also be
delayed.
August 11, Day 299
The server went down again. I do not
know for how long as I went to sleep and it was still off.
-------
Back on and took a quest that needed me
to talk with a character who gave bonus' for reporting ports, so I used a
booster, changed jobs and reported 130 ports. I made sociability R7.
----------
NA to collect berries. Back to Europe,
loaded my quarters with berries, then did my usual tour around the world and
quest along the way. Same deal, Loaded up with Copper ore with my refined
mineral trade in Brunei. Then traded in Taiwan, and sailed to SF. I found out
that the NA Thanksgiving Festival has started !
---------
I have to go to Seville to put all my
goods in an Aide Bazaar and sell them for cheap. Next I pick up some bows in
Marseilles, and Rifles in Naples, chickens, and a full load of aide food in
Lisbon and sail back to Boston.
I (my alt) is ready for a full day of
"Master of Chickens!!" and I (my main) is ready for land battles.
August 12th, Day 300
Started with production in Boston
College. I made eggs and chickens until my 4th aide made level 44 trade and so
he can sail a TLG. All his stats are 100's now too. While that was going on, I
helped a few other new company members set up to collect in NA. My alt's
personal message is "Master of Chickens", Mine is "GranMeister
of Eggs" (hint)
---------
While my alt continued to process in
Boston, I took a train to NA SE and started my land battles. I picked up Tech #85 New Charge & Release (bow R2 power tech.)
At the end of the day I did about 200
land battles. My alt ended up at trade level 78.
